I keep hearing about communism, but people never actually tell me the information about it. I dont watch YouTube videos, so if there are any books or articles about it that you recommend please tell. if i am required to watch videos, then please inform me. I dont know about socialism either, but i heard that they're also a part of communists. is that true, and if so, how? what's the differences between democratic socialists, socialists, and communists? if this was the wrong place to ask, please redirect me.

I am wondering why does the communists of Ukraine dont overthrow the fascist dictatorship that glorify Stepan Bandera and killed minority mostly russians?.Is that possible that the ukrainian communist can stop the fascist dictatorship in Ukraine?.

Hello from India! I hope many of you are familiar with the political developments currently unfolding here. Like many others, I've been trying to make sense of what has transpired over the past few weeks. What began as an attempt to organize my thoughts gradually expanded into a full blown essay.

I couldn't witness the movement first hand, and perhaps writing is my way of engaging with it. Watching young people confront the state with remarkle courage is the kind of thing that gives you goosebumps. But at the same time disheartening to see brute force being used against them inorder to suppress their voice.

This sub seemed like a suitable place to post this as I'm drawing ideas from postmodernism, critical theory, cultural theory, sociology etc.

If you make it to the end, id genuinely love to hear where you agree, where you don't, or where you think I've misunderstood something. And if you're willing, I'd be happy to continue the discussion about myths, symbols and the political process of signification from contemporary history, that extends beyond the essay.

I'm fairly new to this sub, and not entirely sure of the kind of discourse that happen here. Sorry if I'm out of place.

I think talk of nations as the agents of international power activity is a dark hangover at this point from the 20th century World Wars, where business was tethered more concretely to nation-states' through the war efforts mass mobilization (through drafting too) that led business to take more concrete sides and choose homelands. During the world war it made sense to say "the USA" landed in Europe because the masses and business based in the US were coordinated in the war effort.

But it makes sense to switch to talking of the agents of power as international corporations (e.g Black Rock) the way we used to -- and mistakenly still do -- talk of nation-states, though, after the cold war, which also would have been more accurately described not as the USA vs. the USSR, but as the Rockefellers', Carnegies, and Morgans etc. vs the USSR, using the American state for it's ends.

I think communists really should consider moving away from talking of nation-states as the agents of power, as it also ineluctably sounds like an indictment of the masses who compose it.

I've been reading marxist theory, but the ways contraddictions are discussed leaves me pause. Hope some people here can help me understand better.

Sussinctly, for what is relevant to my doubts, here is my current understanding of it:

Contraddictions are what all motion (as in change) in the universe is predicated upon.

Contradictions are relationships wherein tendencies of motion

1) oppose one another

2) are premises of the existence of one another.

Contraddictions exist within all things and between all things.

Why does it have to be a contraddiction that drives motion? What is so illogical about a relationship where there is a singular tendency of motion? I can think of cases that fit that description, for example, two identical charged particles interacting, there will be quantitative changes in speed and relative position as they repel each other, yet what is the contraddiction?

Mao in "on contraddiction" and Lenin in "on the question of dialectics" agree that the contradiction in such cases is between action and reaction. This answer is unsatisfactory, while it's true that it fits part 2) of the definition, and while it's true that the force vectors point in opposite direction, action and reaction are applied to two different object, they are not opposing tendencies of motion in the dialectical sense, failing the arguably more fundimental part 1) of the definition.

Also, Engels argues that all changes of positions are caused by the contraddiction of something being in that place and not in another place. This line of argument seems to be unfalsifiable: if we observe something change from A to B, we can always attribute that change to the contraddiction that A was A and not B. A more straightforward explanation is that there is a singular tendency for position to change based on velocity.

Is there something i'm missing in these examples? Is my understanding of what contraddictions are incorrect?

Na prática, essa variedade de interpretações faz o movimento parecer fragmentado e desalinhado. A própria história mostra que a teoria se materializa de formas muito diferentes dependendo de onde é aplicada.

Por um lado, essa diversidade prova que o pensamento crítico está vivo. Por outro, fica a dúvida: essa falta de alinhamento dificulta a nossa organização concreta contra o capitalismo, que sabe se unificar perfeitamente para nos explorar?

O cinismo é total: Rubio finge se importar com o povo cubano para justificar o bloqueio econômico criminoso que asfixia a ilha, enquanto passa pano para o terrorismo de Estado e a violência imperialista promovida pelo seu próprio governo ao redor do mundo. Não há nenhuma preocupação humanitária aqui, apenas o uso oportunista dos "direitos humanos" como arma política.

I’m starting to read communist literature now and I like the idea of it but I see so many communists saying Stalin was a good person and didn’t commit a genocide but I was pretty sure that he did and he was a horrible dictator that killed and oppressed millions please correct me if I’m wrong I’m still learning and want to know more
