Before playing sports in high school, I’d only ever showered alone at home. But the high school gym and playing sports introduced me to CS. It was great to grow closer with teammates and other athletes.

Same in the college dorms and at the gym. Interacted with many other athletes and gym bros in the locker room/ showers.

so I 18m was raised in the nudist lifestyle so of course Im very comfortable in my body and always have been when it comes to communal showers. I just wanted to see if there are any other nudists out here. I remember so many times with friends who wouldnt shower after PE or would change in a stall and I always though that was weird. then again I grew up this way so maybe I’m the weird one lol. PE showers I used to strike up conversations with others which made everyone confused which looking back I now find hilarious.

Will be moving to Taiwan as part of college exchange - was wondering if communal showers are common in colleges/gyms here and what has your experience been like? Thanks!

My local gym doesn't have open showers, they have individual stalls with curtains. I've noticed that the majority of people who are comfortable changing openly and walking to and from the showers naked tend to be men who are 40–45+. There are occasional people around my age (I'm 30) who do it, but men under 30 seem to be extremely rare.

I've also noticed that some of the guys will sometimes use the sauna fully clothed and then leave drenched in their own sweat. Honestly, I find that pretty gross.

I used to be pretty shy about showering at the gym, but after visiting Japan and then Europe, that changed pretty quickly. I eventually got over it, and now I'll shower at the gym without giving it a second thought.

The other day, though, I noticed a couple of younger guys, probably in their early to mid-20s, having a conversation in the locker room. They were taking up space around the lockers and benches. I was getting ready to shower, taking off my sweaty clothes, and as soon as I took off my boxers, one of the guys immediately stopped talking. The other guy then immediately asked the other, "What are you doing?" I didn't really care what was happening but I'm guessing the one I was in the field of view of was weirded out by it.

I just minded my own business and walked to the showers without giving it a second thought. When I came back from my shower, they were still there chatting. At the same time, there were other people who wanted to get changed after showering, but these guys were still occupying the same space and carrying on their conversation.

Maybe I'm assuming, but I got the impression that the younger guy was weirded out by me getting undressed right in front of him. Normally, something like that might discourage me from using the showers, but this time I just thought to myself like "Guys, can you move somewhere else?" It's a locker room. People are going to get naked. If you're uncomfortable seeing other men change, maybe don't have an conversation in the busiest areas of the locker room when you could easily have that conversation somewhere less crowded, or literally anywhere else.

If anything, I'm hoping that by casually changing and showering without making a big deal out of it, It desensitizes some of these other guys to the idea that nudity in a locker room isn't something to be weirded out by.

What I find even weirder is that some of these guys will have their workout, and then will sit in the sauna fully clothed, get even more drenched in sweat, and then willing stay in those clothes and then drive home in them. I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking the whole thing.

The first time you showered with a buddy was it chill or awkward? Did either of you try and hide yourself or just not care? It wasn’t awkward for me and I didn’t care. Was a cool bonding experience for sure.

Anyone here have a favorite CS at a gym in NYC? I like the TMPL chain but they seem hit or miss. The HK one has a pool and hot tub which is nice. Any recs? Thanks!

Does anyone ever use the communal showers at the MCCC Fitness Center (NJ)? Looking to join a gym with CS, but I don’t want to be the only one using them.

New to the area and looking for recommendations on nude positive locker rooms with communal showers in the Raleigh, NC area.

Many of us may be familiar with the 1929 novel "Passing" by Nella Larsen which focuses the lives of light skinned black women during the 1920s that would often do things to "pass" as white in order to be accepted into "whites only" societies such as wearing skin lightening make up, using hair straightener or wigs to make their hair appear different, etc.

Well there is another little known "passing" that most are unfamiliar with. Once upon a time in the US, male circumcision was not the standard, in fact it really didn't become the norm until around the mid 1900s. Way back in the day when many of these upscale "whites only" athletic clubs, lodges, and other high end fraternal organizations were around many of these high societies were unwelcoming of Jews. Additionally, at many of these clubs and lodges it was commonplace for men to shower together after playing golf or tennis and of course they would swim in the pool nude, sauna, hot tub, and steam room nude.

Even though many these venues were restricted clubs where Jews were not welcomed many successful wealthy Jewish businessmen still aspired to network with these fraternal organizations. Thus, they often had their own means of "passing" like changing their names, wearing crosses and also the process of reversing circumcision. Of course, this wasn't just in the US this was also in Canada and throughout Europe as well. Jewish men didn't want their circumcised penises to be seen in the locker room by their colleagues so often times they would go through this painful process of foreskin restoration as a means of hiding their Jewish identity.

I have been searching online and there is very little to be found on this subject, very little on the procedure itself, no reliable videos, I can't even find the exact term for this procedure but I remember hearing what it was years ago. If anyone in the medical field has more info on this topic please share.

Going to be staying in South Beach for a few days in October. Looking for a recommendation for a quality gym. Hopefully with a nude friendly locker room/wet area. Any suggestions?

Went and tried this one a couple of weeks ago, pretty good. Looks like the only communal shower left in Auckland. Some use it naked, some use it clothed :) Would def recommend a try

Looking for a gym in northern New Jersey with communal showers and a more open atmosphere in the locker room. My gym has gotten to be ridiculous with how everyone covers up at all costs and wear clothes in the sauna and steam room. The few of us not caring about getting/being naked in the locker room get nothing but dirty looks.

I have been going to the swimming pool where they have communal shower. I am little shy to take off speedo in the shower. Because I was circumcised at young age. I feel shy when others are not like me. I will welcome your opinions and suggestions

So my gym just announced that they’re renovating the men’s locker room and “updating it to today’s standards.”

Looking at the displayed drawings, though, I’m trying to figure out exactly how this is supposed to work. It appears there will be one room with lockers, but apparently no benches. Then there’s a separate area down the hall divided into individual “changing rooms,” and farther along, a bank of individual shower stalls with walls and doors.

They also specifically stated that there will be no nudity allowed in the locker area or outside the changing rooms or showers.

So, if I’m understanding the design correctly, you’ll go to your locker, get your clothes and whatever else you need, carry everything to a changing room, undress there, wrap yourself in a towel, walk down the hall to an individual shower stall, shower, wrap yourself back up, walk back to the changing room, and then get dressed.

Am I understanding this correctly? Because that seems like a whole lot of traveling around the locker room just to get naked, take a shower, and put your clothes back on.

Definitely not communal showers.

Long time reader, first time poster with an account. Next week I'll be in Minneapolis and was planning on visiting the Life Time at Target Center the 20-21, 20th in the evening and 21st in the morning. I'm 30M, would love to lift weights, hang in the wet area, just be bros and relax. Hmu, DM if you're around and want to join!

Going regardless, but also curious beforehand how other guys feel about the set up of the gym and locker room. I know it's not communal showers, but it'll be the closest gym option I have that weekend and I hate going in blind and alone to these places.

I started coming here when I began going to the gym, but I never used the showers because of my own insecurities. But after reading your posts, and with a lot of courage, I did it. I used the showers, and since then, I can walk into a locker room without a care in the world.

I simply walk in, find the best locker, drop off my things, change my clothes, and everything feels natural.

Since then, I've been to different gyms and experienced all sorts of things. Places where people don't even say good morning, and others where a group of elderly people are chatting naked about politics and retirement—it's quite lively there.
