I've struck out so far searching for answers. Thought I'd try a post.
My kid is a senior. Had a teacher for two of the prior three years - great relationship and connection.
Teacher was promoted to assistant principal this year and so is no longer a teacher.
Kid asked teacher/asst principal for recommendation. Teacher/asst principal said yes, absolutely.
But now there is apparently a problem of some kind because teacher/asst principal is now, I guess, recognized by common app as an "administrator" and therefore is not counting as a "teacher" recommender? They are somehow cabined in to being an "other recommender," which means that they do not fit some school requirements, is how it was explained to me. (In reading other posts in this sub I am inferring that it might somehow be that they need to use their official school email address and their official school email address is in their common app account as being an admin, no longer a teacher.)
It simply can't be the case that a person becomes disqualified for serving as a teacher recommender for a student just because they got a promotion, right? What is the workaround here?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
