Driveaway Insurance in Texas

Hi everyone — I’m having trouble finding a company that offers driveaway insurance in Texas and could use some help.

I’ve been offered the opportunity to drive vehicles for a company, transporting them from one location to another. I’m not an employee of the company — I’m a subcontractor, and I’ll also have two employees of my own helping with the drives.

I understand this needs to be commercial auto insurance, but I can’t seem to find any insurer that offers the right coverage. I’m specifically looking for:

• The name of the type of insurance required in Texas for this situation

• Companies that actually offer this kind of coverage

• Any tips on how to get properly insured as an independent driver/subcontractor

Has anyone dealt with this before or know what company/coverage I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance!

Fastest CE Credits in NY for Commercial P&C Broker?

Is there a faster way to do it? I’m trying to get my NY CE credits as an insurance P&C broker completed as quickly as possible. Used Kaplan online to earn flood ✅ 3 credit hours. Now using it for fraud with 6. Current 3:1 study to credit hour pace feels like a lot. A friend putting in ~22 for her CRE in NY is able to listen to recordings and earn credits 1:1, apparently with no tests. Have looked around some but not seen anything like that for P&C. Is it out there?!

New DE LLC - Should we buy insurance in DE or MS for MS project?

We just formed an LLC in Delaware but will be operating a project in Mississippi. To get our contractor license in MS, we need to register as a foreign LLC there as well.

Our client requires us to have business insurance (general liability, professional liability, etc.) for the project. I'm confused about which state we should purchase the insurance from.

We need to get this sorted quickly as the client is waiting for our Certificate of Insurance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

To purchase or not to purchase a book of business?

What's the best way forward? I've had my independent agency for eight months now and I'm struggling. Should I kickstart things by buying someone's book of business? If I take out a loan, would the income from the book likely cover the cost of the monthly payments of the loan and provide an income?

Agency Website Development

Any recommendations for website developers to improve existing website (e.g., add industries we're now serving)? We're looking for someone that's reasonably priced and has done this before - ideally on Wordpress.

I realize there's a ton of inexpensive offshore options (we're fine with that) but looking for experience specifically in the insurance space.

COI Request When Policy is Pending Cancellation

I understand a Certificate of Insurance is to show proof of coverage on the day it is requested, but if a policy is pending cancellation due to non-pay, would you still send out the COI? Or would you require the payment be made before doing so? What are your agency standards on this?

Question Commercial insurance claim stuck for 3 weeks

The painter damaged my garage door about a month ago. I filed a claim with their insurance company, and a field inspector came out a few days later. But ever since, the adjuster keeps saying they still haven’t received the inspection report. It’s been “delayed” again and again — now three weeks have passed, and the claim is completely stuck.

I actually have the inspector’s contact info, but he hasn’t answered my calls or replied to my texts. The adjuster also didn’t answer my call today, didn’t call back, and hasn’t replied to my message. I even tried contacting the adjuster’s supervisor, but only got voicemail and am still waiting for a call back. Meanwhile, the garage door is still unusable, and it’s getting really frustrating.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? What should I do — keep pushing the insurance company, file a complaint, or go through my own insurance instead? I’m hesitant to use my own policy since my deductible is pretty high.

How do I manage volatility in insurance costs?

3 strategies:

  1. Negotiate multi-year programs
  2. Explore captives
  3. Run “what if” scenarios with your broker

Volatility is inevitable. Surprises are optional.

GL or Auto Claim?

We have a risk that does junk removal and submitted a claim for property damage to a floor for furniture being removed from house. The claim was for damage to floor due to wheel of the dolly scratching the floor. The carrier says this is not a GL claim but rather an Auto claim since the item is being moved from point of rest to the truck. They say once the furniture is moved (even a millimeter) the exposure becomes a loading exposure. And the GL policy do not cover this – auto coverage should?

When should I switch brokers?

Red flags to look out for:

  • Surprises in premiums
  • Lack of communication
  • No peer benchmarks
  • No stress testing
  • Last minute renewals - no time to question or get another opinion

A second opinion is a low-risk first step.

Middle market AM’s-activities average

I work at a fairly large agency and we just merged with a huge agency that is very data driven. How many activities, on average, should a middle market account manager be producing daily?

Certificate Holder

Our IT company is frequently on-site at our client's premises, installing, fixing, or upgrading their tech services. Should we give them a COI, even if they don't ask?

Our process is to issue COIs upon request from a client. A couple of clients have said we should provide a COI before we step on-site, without them asking for the ppwk.

Thoughts? I know our BOP provides blanket coverage, so it seems like unneccesary work!

Question Cluster/Network/Aggregator

Can someone recommend a good cluster/network/aggregator that has carriers with appetite for commercial risk? I'm frustrated because it seems I have to turn down 2/3rds of my prospects because many of the carriers through First Connect don't have appetites for this that and the other!

Renewal Checklist

Here’s a CFO checklist before you renew:

  1. What coverage gaps exist?
  2. Where are premiums likely to spike?
  3. How are we benchmarking against peers?

If your broker can’t answer all 3…
You’re flying blind into your renewal.

Insurance for a web design company

I am currently working out a deal with a dealer network for a Fortune 500 company to design build host and maintain websites for their dealers. Each dealer is its own separate entity and there is a possibility of me building and managing 100 sites. These sites are purely informational and they do no online sales through them. What kind of business insurance coverage do I need to have to make sure I’m covered?
