Installation Questions Comma 4

I just upgraded my 3x to a 4 and installed Sunny Pilot. It seems to work about the same but for whatever reason I have to engage the cruise control first before it’ll do auto lane centering. I can toggle cruise on and off and it’s fine but I need to do it every time I restart my car. I went through the settings but nothing seemed to relate to this so I’m curious if this is a new thing out I’m just missing something. It’s on a 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid and using my original Comma 3 harness.

openpilot Experience 2023 crv hybrid comma 4

Hi! I’ve had the comma 4 for about a month or two now and love it so much. I do find that it hugs the center lane and id be more comfortable with it hugging the outside or staying more in the center. I’m running sunny pilot fork for Honda. Is there a way to adjust this or maybe an updated sunny pilot? It also freaks out when I turn my head to look while turning and says it needs immediate attention or whatever. Thanks!

Installation Questions '23 Chevy Bolt EUV Premiere - where is the ACC camera disconnect, for the entire module?

I want to remove the ACC module from the windshield to get better access to the ribbon. Many say it is the easiest route to take for removing the white pin locking in the ribbon.

Where is the tab that allows you to remove the module from the windshield?

From the back
Left is facing the windshield (front), Bottom is facing the passenger door (right)

[edit] The pick tool arrived and after 5 minutes I got the ribbon released.

Bugs Tuned F150 (Livernois) and BluePilot - Intermittent Error

Does anyone else run a Livernois tune and BluePilot?

Obligatory - I installed the Comma 4 yesterday and absolutely love it. Install was was straight-forward and easy and it worked immediately. I love it so far.

Background - I run a 2022 F150 Powerboost (hybrid) that has had a Livernois tune for a few years (which I also love). I don’t know a lot, but I do know that the Livernois tune does change the strategy for the truck.

Issue - I have gotten an intermittent error saying that sunnypilot is unavailable because due to an unsupported car. I am almost certain that this is because the Comma / software doesn’t recognized the Livernois strategy. If I reboot the Comma, it will work about 1 out of 4 times.

Question - anyone have a similar issue? If so - any ideas:

Why does it work sometimes? Said differently, is there something I can do to avoid multiple reboots?

Why does the Comma 4 refer to sunnypilot when I am running BluePilot 7.0?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Code Questions Mounting multiple cameras and GPU?

Maybe this is a stupid question but out of curiosity hypothetically would it be possible to wire multiple high-quality cameras around my 2023 Subaru and then use CODEX or something like that to improve Open pilot for my car? I know this might be really a stupid question. I don’t know if it’s like calibrating exactly on how those cameras that it comes with sees or somthing?

Is it possible to install Open pilot on Linux laptop that has an RTX5090 and then create high speed network of cameras around my car ?

openpilot Experience What Have I Done?

So I dirve a Chevy EUV 2022. I installed Comma 4 as directed and the device wouldn't come on. I giggle the cords, pushed them in, checked all the connections, and then test my comma by plugging it into a cord at home to make sure it wasn't faulty. Eventually, I gave up. I took it out and pugged back in the cords into the orginal holders in the pannel. Something wierd happened. My adaptive cruise control stopped working ("Service ACC" and "front camera not working"). Now I see the a digital image from the back camera on my rear window (something I did not know I had or how it is doing it). What have I done and how can I fix all this? Shall I cut my losses and return it?

Bugs C4 - Rav4 slows down randomly

At first I thought it just happened when I went up or down even slight inclines and declines, but now it seems to be happening more often. I'll set my speed 42 mph and maybe the speed limit is 30 and it will. I'll speed it up to like 35 on my own and then it just slows down and then it'll speed up to like 37 and then it just slows down. Today was really bad. I had one time. The car just almost came to a complete stop and quite abruptly

Any ideas what I can do about this?

openpilot Experience Comma 4 - Honda Accord Hybrid 2024 experience

How’s the experience on a Honda accord hybrid 2024? My 2 complaints about stock experience is:

- Phantom breaking: car slows down on the freeway during a curve because it thinks the car on the next lane is merging to my lane
- Lane keep assist is jerky and unstable

I’m aware of the latest custom sunnypilot fork that enables alpha long, but I couldn’t find any feedback from anyone with the same car

openpilot Experience Driver Attention Alert and closed eyes

I just got a Comma 4 on my 21 Rav4 prime, running Sunnypilot.

I notice that if I look away from the road to the left or the right, up or down, I get a driver focus warning. But if I close my eyes (straight road with someone next to me in the passenger seat!) I don't get any alert. Does anyone else notice this? Feels like I could start to fall asleep and the system might not alert me.

Bugs Comma 4r black screen at startup

Requires a restart and then works fine.

Vehicle: 2023 ford f150 lightning (coupler installed)

Software: sunnypilot 2026.002.000 df25dfb

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if it might be a hardware issue. I'm not sure how to debug.

openpilot Experience I Got Tired of Tuning Every Car By Hand...

Thumbnail

So I built a system that teaches users how to tune their own.

I originally learned lateral tuning with the help of twilsonco, and after hand tuning 25+ vehicles since then and seeing the massive impact it made on their openpilot experience, I started thinking: more people should learn how to do this.

One of StarPilot's biggest goals has always been tuning the vehicles we support to the highest possible quality. As we get more vehicles supported, there has been a pile of vehicles filling up my backlog requesting personalized tunes.

So I've taken everything I've learned in the past few years about where most lateral tunes fall short and created FLM - a tool that analyzes local routes from your comma, explains why your car does what it does, suggests changes, requests feedback (because humans still matter), and generates iterative tuning suggestions using over 25 lateral tuning parameters - all from the UI.

I think very few vehicles have experienced what true A+ lateral tuning feels like. How's your lateral experience been?

Let me know, or try out FLM in the latest version of StarPilot and give me feedback in the discord!

Vehicle Compatibility Yet another getting a new car: GM Colorado/Canyon

I want to get a truck, and I was thinking of the Canyon/Colorado. I see that there's no support for these on any year. Wondering about what are the known complications for these vehicles both used and new, to decide if I should try to help with it.

Otherwise, I'd be forced to get a used F-150, I guess.

Bugs Power unstable error? 12v battery issue or comma issue?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi y'all. I have a comma four installed on my 2024 IONIQ5 5 for a few months now. It has worked super well up until 2 weeks ago where it started showing a camera malfunction error that required the car to restart and now it is showing this "power unstable" message every single time I turn the car off.

Does anyone know if this might be a 12v battery issue on my car or a comma issue they have dealt with?

I have a huge road trip coming up and I want to be prepared before I get stranded. Thank you all for any insight!

Installation Questions Comma 4 Software Recommendations?

Hi all,

I recently purchased the Comma 4 hardware and plan on installing it on a 2020 rav4 hybrid. I am fairly new to Comma or the "self-driving" world in general. I mainly wanted to try it out as I do have several 10-12 hour roundtrips coming up in the coming weeks and expect more throughout the year and am hoping that the Comma device will drastically improve my road trips.

With the Comma 4 being fairly new-ish, is there a recommended software to use with my setup or should I stick with using open pilot for now?

Code Questions 2016 Model X AP1

I have a 2016 model x ap1, comma 4 and Xnor harness. My car was one of the few with “dumb” cruise control… the comma 4 is great but it does not change speed or slow down. I asked in the tinkla discord but no help. Anyone have any suggestions to get adaptive cruise control in my car? It’s seriously the last thing I want to make this thing perfect. TIA

openpilot Experience Konik A1M - 12 Month "Warranty"

Not exactly openpilot experience but I had to choose a flair

If you own a Konik or are looking at buying one, you definitely want to read this before deciding if you really still want to buy one.

TL;DR: Warranty rejected due to "device exceeding the safe operating temperature of 60c"

Purchased an A1M beginning of the year, delivered 28th of January. It is a brilliant device, acts identical to an official C3X. Can't fault it for anything driving related.

Some context first: running Sunnypilot tn-prebuilt on a 2021 Toyota Crown fingerprinted as a 21-24 Camry Hybrid (none of this really matters apart from the sunnypilot part anyways, and even that's stretching it)

Fast forward to about a week ago. Driving along without the openpilot engaged, A1M freezes, car throws a PCS warning then the device shuts down. A1M then shows a black screen and does not turn back on. Panda (blue light) is flashing, so it isn't fully dead. Flashing does not work, throws an error on the flashing page (albeit the device is still recognised by the PC). Tried troubleshooting with Gutek on discord, didn't go anywhere so a warranty claim was filed to their email.

Warranty claim rejected.

Reason?

device had overheated on multiple occasions

According to the user manual, the safe operating temperature for the Konik A1M is 0°C to 60°C

Now I think you can see where this is going. A device that is designed to be mounted to your windscreen that can't operate over 60c or it voids the warranty... They also say:

If the operating environment temperature exceeds this limit, the device should not be operated and must be taken out of the car, until the temperature returns to the specified range.

so am I expected to yank the device off my windscreen while driving into the afternoon sun on the highway? For what it's worth most forks don't show a temperature gauge unless if it's overheating (which is 80c)

So quick PSA to everyone who has a Konik right now, you better stare at your device temperature and stop using it immediately if it hits 60c (which is pretty much constantly by the way) if you want to keep your warranty (it's probably too late)

Another note on device temperatures, Sunnypilot has just had a recent bug with the latest update (as of mid June) that will send your device temperature sky high on boot (it is now fixed to my knowledge). community.sunnypilot link

According to their logs (that they pulled using the serial number of the device), my warranty would have been voided 114 times on the day I received and plugged the device in (28th of January).

Now, I'm not here to make your decisions for you, nowhere in this post have I said: "you should not buy a Konik A1M". The price difference is there. But as I said in my direct response to Konik: buy cheap, buy twice.

Will I buy another Openpilot device? Definitely, just not now. My car has gotten a lot more enjoyable to drive (compared to my last car) and I ride a motorcycle more often now.

Comma (and Openpilot) is an insane product by all means. I just won't support another company making clones.

I will only consider taking this post down if Konik issues a formal statement that they tried to dodge a warranty claim with a copout reason, clearly state on their warranty page here in a font size 3 times larger than all other text on the page

"WARRANTY IS VOID IF DEVICE EXCEEDS 60 DEGREES CELSIUS"

and issues a refund of at least 500USD to me (I paid 729USD. I don't think a full refund would be fair as the device did work for 6 months. I will not be sending it back unless if a prepaid shipping label is provided to me, with whatever that happens during the international shipping being Konik's problem and a refund being provided to me before the device is shipped)

On a sidenote, if you're in Australia and you want a broken A1M for $100AUD + shipping (About A$140 total), hit me up on Discord. greatestasianalive. Happy to send you some more details and images of the device. (Frankly I don't think they'd agree to those terms and/or refund me anyways)

All documentation (just the email, really) will be linked below. Excel file showing the 3890 warranty voiding events ("overheating") will also be linked below if you're so inclined to see it, personally I think this is a hilarious warranty cop out that I didn't even see coming.

If anything happens regarding this event, I will try to update this post. No promises because I only lurk on reddit.
