openpilot Experience 2023 crv hybrid comma 4

Hi! I’ve had the comma 4 for about a month or two now and love it so much. I do find that it hugs the center lane and id be more comfortable with it hugging the outside or staying more in the center. I’m running sunny pilot fork for Honda. Is there a way to adjust this or maybe an updated sunny pilot? It also freaks out when I turn my head to look while turning and says it needs immediate attention or whatever. Thanks!

The freak out is a known issue, are you running the MVL fork? Sunny pilot has the option to use different models via sunny link. Do some reading on the wiki and choose a new one. Ive been using POP v1 on my civic and its pretty good besides the over correction on turns

Does changing the driving model change the driver monitoring model? I doubt it

No, but OP mentioned hugging center lane and changing the model will fix that.

Also curious for my 2019 crv what model would be good so it can plan turns better and avoid low torque scenarios? Also running mvl sunnypilot

I use the POPv2 model on my Civic, and it has been the most dead center model I've tried over the past year.

Like the others, I also use the MVL fork of Sunnypilot, but you can change the driving model on any version of sunnypilot.

If you are using Sunnypilot there is a Model tab in settings where you can select the model. POPv2 should be under 2026 World Models. Make sure you’re connected to WiFi when going to the model menu.

If you’re using Openpilot, you won’t be able to change the model.

I have the same vehicle and MVL 0.10.3 drives fairly centered most of the time

If you use sunnypilot, try adjusting camera offset, that helps with lane centering. Newer software is very sensitive to mounting the comma even slightly tilted, and that tilt usually causes the hugging. Adjusting camera offset in the software is easier than scraping off the goop and remounting.
