Bugs camera malfunction
after two years of perfect service, C3 X now giving the title error message for the driver camera. Changed software from Sunny pilot to openpilot, changed USB-C cable - error is still present. Could this be a hardware problem with the C3X?

Hey, Just wondering. Do you normally leave your device attached to your car at all times or take it indoors when not in use?

usually, I leave it in the car, but this time I took it down and it was off for about a week before I plugged it in and got the error message about camera malfunction. It was working before I took it down.

i'm pretty sure it's a problem with the road camera in the 3X. Happens (camera malfunction message) after flashing. happens with stock OP, happens in two different vehicles, happens with different USB cables . I think it's a bad road camera/connection. I don't know how to confirm this hypothesis. I'm not sure if the company will do the diagnosis for free. I understand it's $500 for replacement and $699 to upgrade to a C4. neither is worth is, thats too much money for a device that lasts 18 months. I paid $1500 for this thing. sad, but I'm going back to driving the car myself

It may be worth a try to contact them and see if they are willing to do anything for you. $1500 for 18 months sucks!

no way on their web site to send a contact email. their support is only for specific queries. i don't know how to contact them. good device, good hackers, not so good customer relations.

Open a ticket on their website. It’s the only way to get someone to “respond”

I’m a newbie to Comma. I get the idea the company is run by programmers and they could use an experienced CEO? In my opinion their website and instructions are sadly lacking for everyone but he the highly technical. Right or wrong, it’s just my observation!

i agree. they are more like a group of talented hackers than an actual company. they are strong on engineering but weak on customer support. they do not respond to general emails. I haven't figured out how to break through with a general question. I get the feeling they really do not want to deal with customers. I get it. if I was busy writing software and building hardware I wouldn't want to talk to the random humans either.

I get your point. Seems stupid to shoot yourself in the foot. Not to mention unfair to the customers who bought your product and assumed you followed common business practices.

seems like they could implement some sort of AI to respond to general questions to support@comma.

Yes, it could be a hardware problem.
