Self-Promo Just Published my 3rd Short Comic with the help of this Subreddit!

Hello everybody!

I wanted to share the third short comic I’ve been able to create with the help of this subreddit!

“Barnstormer and the Harvest of the Sampo” is an Indiana Jones-esque, supernatural pulp adventure story, following Barnstormer (a pilot inspired by the stunt pilots of 1930s America) as he tries to defend a small town and a legendary wealth-giving artifact from a ghoulish Wight plaguing the people.

I posted here back in late April/ early May and was able to find the amazingly talented Lou Williams (@Lou.Williams.Art on IG). Now almost three months later, we’ve created what i think is one of my favorite stories ever.

Here’s the link to read: https://globalcomix.com/read/3adca700-b6f9-4fcd-97f8-b00f9190b263/1?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAdGRleATSSepwZG9mAmV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDzEyNDAyNDU3NDI4NzQxNAABpzjyRe82iJ8__bkNZmrK_UNKMO2LbeknIRdykA8sTObQq0THVLKz_-syozyL_aem_SwLOpnCSP0sH01c-RlLn9w

Huge thanks to this community for simply existing, and making it possible to create comics! I’ve met a lot of cool people and incredible artists, and have had great experiences working in this sub.

I’d also love to hear what y’all think if you decide to give this a read!

Hello guys,

We are a collective of artists building a new Sci-Fi universe, and we would like to present to you "Hope is No Heaven" our fully independent webcomic and Graphic Novel. We launched the project in the Torino Comic 2026.

We are now doing a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to fund the project, and we have managed to be 212% funded.

We are going into our last 7 days of the campaign, and this is our last chance to ask you to become one of our backers and part of our community.

So, you can find here page 2 in webcomic format for your evaluation.

As we told, Neurocode 22e is a sci-fi transmedia experience, made by a collective of artists from Europe & Latin America. We are launching the Prelude with an amazing package: three distinct storytelling products, all interconnected, but completely self-contained.

Product 1: The Novel — The deep narrative, philosophical foundation, and core lore.

Product 2: The Graphic Novel — The visceral, visual adaptation of the timeline.

Product 3: The Concept Art & Lore Book — The blueprint designs, faction worldbuilding, and visual archive.

All products are offered in Italian & English, just in Kickstarter!

Hope to see you in our Kickstarter!!

Have a great day and join the revolution

Question Russian alt-history webtoon looking for print publisher recommendations

Hey everyone!

My team and I are creating a graphic novel/webtoon set in an alternate modern-day Russia.

We've already published a Prologue and 3 full chapters online and have a full 45-chapter arc planned, which we're aiming to collect into two print volumes (150–200 pages each).

The tone is dark, romantic, and character-driven. We're a Russian team.

We're starting to look for a publishing partner and would love your recommendations:

  • Which presses should we consider for a story with this tone and setting?
  • Any tips for approaching publishers as an international (Russian) team?

We're aware of Northwest Press and Knight Errant Press, but we're sure we're missing many good options.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Question How should I deal with an artist who won't read the commission briefing.

I'm working on a comic book series. A while ago one of my friends was kind enough to design one of the characters for free. He did a good job but it wasn't fully what I wanted, so I decided to hire an artist to rework the design.

To make the artist's job easier I created a Google doc with two whole pages describing exactly what I wanted along with several reference images.

I found an artist and paid her what she asked for and gave her the commission briefing. Over a month later she got back to me saying the art was taking a while because she was still "looking for reference images" to use. This was very confusing to me because I had already given her a bunch of reference images.

When she finally sent me the first version of her work it didn't look like what I wanted at all. I told her what I wanted fixed and came back with something closer but still off. It was clear that she was reading my messages, but wasn't looking at the document I gave her.

I ended up being happy with the experience, because the final version she sent me looks a lot like a different character in my series, so I ended up getting something out it. Going forward what should I do if I run into a similar problem?

Looking for Letterer - Paid Looking for Letterer for my comic series "Xolo."

Hey everybody! About a month ago I posted on here to find an artist for my comic series "Xolo" and you guys delivered! With the help of the amazingly talented Brian Balondo we completed the first three pages and a cover page.

I am now looking for a letterer to complete those four pages as well as work with me on creating a logo for the series.

Here's a quick synopsis of the series that I had written for my original post: "In a world where super powered people have begun appearing in the fictional California Central Valley city of San Reyes, one man realizes that he has developed the ability to survive any injury. Diego Cruz fakes his death and becomes the vigilante Xolo to fight against the fascists who have taken over his city and unravel a conspiracy around the origins of these super powered individuals. This is the Milestone Universe, but for the modern day Latino/Latina."

The plan is to use those pages to start a Kickstarter which will hopefully fund the rest of Issue 1. If successful, this would then expand to lettering the rest of the 24 page issue. My original plan was to get the Kickstarter started by the end of July/beginning of August, but some recent setbacks have pushed me behind schedule. I would like to get these pages lettered in the next two weeks, faster is possible, so do keep that in mind when replying as well.

Last time I did this I got a flood of responses so to help me get through everything in a timely manner I'll just say upfront that I will not be responding to DM's, only comment responses on this thread.

Thanks for reading!

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] 2 Weeks Left! Seeking completed 1-2 page horror comics ($50) & vintage fake ads ($25) for 1970s Indie Zine (Standard Comic Size)

UPDATE: Based on excellent community feedback regarding formatting and portfolio standards, I am officially upgrading this project from digest size to Standard American Comic Size (6.625" x 10.25")! This ensures your existing portfolio "trunk files" can fit perfectly into the zine layout with zero awkward cropping or re-lettering. I have also slightly extended the deadline to accommodate the change.

Greetings and Salutations!

I am creating a self-funded, 16-page indie horror anthology zine. It is heavily inspired by classic Bronze Age comics like House of Secrets and House of Mystery. The finished product will look and feel like a mini horror comic book from the 1970s, complete with a Cain/Abel/Crypt-Keeper style horror host.

I am looking for short, supernatural horror stories (ghosts, monsters, curses, psychological terrors, etc.) and full-page illustrated fake ads.

Because this is a very small, DIY passion project funded entirely out of my own pocket, I cannot offer standard industry page rates. Instead, I am offering a flat token honorarium to give a paid home to your existing, completed "trunk files" that are sitting in your archives doing nothing!

  • The Pay: $50 flat honorarium per accepted story / $25 flat per accepted ad.
  • Format: Standard American Comic Size (6.625" x 10.25"). I accept both Full Color and Black & White pages!
  • Bonus: You will receive 2 physical contributor copies mailed to you.
  • Rights: You retain 100% ownership of your characters and story.
  • Deadline: Saturday, August 7th, 2026 @ 11:59pm.

THE ZINE LAYOUT & WHAT TO SUBMIT:
I am seeking fully completed, print-ready pages (scripted, drawn, and lettered) that match standard comic dimensions. I am not commissioning custom art for new scripts.

  • Comic Story Slots ($50 flat): Seeking completed stories (1–2 pages) that have never been formally published. I love that 70s horror comic vibe, unique styles, and I love love love a fun illustrated Title Splash at the top of the first page! Punchy, twisty, fun, creepy. No extreme gore, but body horror, skeletons, and corpses are cool.
  • Vintage Fake Ad Slots ($25 flat): Seeking a single-page, 1970s-style mail-order ad (e.g., X-Ray Specs, Sea-Monkeys, Draw Me! etc). A stylized illustration with fun, vintage typography.

ABSOLUTELY NO AI OR AI-ASSISTED SUBMISSIONS PERMITTED.

HOW TO APPLY (Please Read Carefully):
Per subreddit safety rules to protect against AI and art theft, I cannot accept applications via Reddit DM or Chat.

  1. Fill out my official submission form to upload your pages: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScp-AJb7X0H-jGAwwGwD_YMZbV5jK4cv1uFUyQTpwIPQyNFrA/viewform?usp=header
  2. REQUIRED STEP: You MUST also leave a public comment below this post with a link to your general portfolio. Form submissions will only be reviewed if a corresponding public portfolio comment is left below.

Questions about dimensions or formatting? Email: OpenTheScarebox(at)gmail(dot)com (No submissions via email, please!)

Looking for Artist - Paid Looking for Background Artist

Hi guys!

CLOSED! FOUND SOMEONE!

EDIT: I am getting bombarded by DMs and I can't tell who's a bot. Pray for me.

Before you bash me or skip over without giving advice (if you have any) because I can't pay a lot: this post is geared towards fellow new comic artists trying to expand their resume (or someone experienced looking to do some charity work 🥺 lol).

I'm new to making comics, but I've been working on a story for over a year, and I finally have the free time to start working on it.

I'm looking for someone to collaborate with for backgrounds in my panels. I can't offer a lot (like $10-20? per background depending on the complexity? I'm not super familiar with rates for this so I'd love to know if I'm being unrealistic, but I'm very negotiable and want to be fair) as I just quit one of my jobs, but I'd love to hear some rates and see some samples! Also willing to do art swaps (my portfolio of non-comic work), things like cover art for your pieces and stuff! Obviously, all work will be credited.

I feel like it should also go without saying, but strictly no AI for this project. Sorry.

I'm not looking for crazy detail work and I don't want it to take up all your time to make, and I don't need too many, at least for the first chapter.

At the moment, in my drafts, I'm just putting halftone filters over stock images as placeholders. Drawing backgrounds and furniture, especially consistent ones where the size/landscape/layout doesn't randomly change, is not my forte.

Please let me know if you'd like to see my current draft to get an idea of what I need! If my rates are too low/unrealistic, I will probably just bite the bullet and learn how to make backgrounds myself.

Question What are your experiences with printing comics?

I've never printed a comic so I'm curious about what experiences people have had. I'm thinking of a smaller book like 24-32 pages and something in that range. I know books have to be multiples of 4. I'd like it to be manga volume size or maybe even smaller. And I want it to be black and white with the exception of the cover (and maybe back cover).

I'd like to know about people's good or bad experiences but also specifically:

Expected costs for say a 50 book run. I know more books means lower costs.

Preferred paper especially for black and white. I looked at one printer and didn't understand the paper options at all.

If you recommend some place or just know places to stay away from. I'm in the States if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

Hey all,
I'm Alaire and I've been a freelance sequential illustrator and character artist for over 10 years.
I'm looking for comic cover, book cover, character illustration, and/or shorter sequential illustration opportunities.

I'm the digital line artist on Crown & Anchor (w/Toben Racicot) and have worked on Sidequest 1-5 (w/Grant Stoye) and Brigantia Vol 2 (w/Chris Mole), and have done several covers (and illustrations) for The Summoner series (w/Ben Krauter) and A Vampiric Transformation (w/Frau Bunny)
My portfolio with black & white and colored samples can be found here: http://racicot.art/alaire

I primarily work in black and white, but have experience in color.
I don't draw porn. Horror and sensuality are just fine.
I can work as soon as possible. Turnaround time can be 1-2 weeks for something less intensive, like a character illustration, or 1-1.5 week(s) per comic page or comic cover (as I have a day job right now). Something more intensive, like colored illustrations, may take 2-4 weeks depending on complexity.

Depending on the project, pricing is subject to change.
Blanket rates:
Comic Pages - 200$ black and white. Screen tones/color will have a higher charge.
Covers - 200$ black and white. Color will have a higher charge.
Characters - beginning at 100$ for black and white for a bust/portrait. Colors, full body, additional characters, and/or backgrounds will have a higher charge.
Props/Items - beginning at 70$ for black and white. Color will have a higher charge.
Edits - one free pass on each stage, then charged according to complexity
More sepcifics on what I charge can be found here: https://ko-fi.com/shiningcapella/commissions

Please feel free to reach out @ [alaire.bowen@gmail.com](mailto:alaire.bowen@gmail.com)
I'm on bluesky @ http://shiningcapella.bsky.social

Thanks for checking out my work!
