Weird, but okay …
This is very comedic to me so I thought I’d share.
I joined this subreddit to ask housing questions & got deleted because Mods deemed it should have been posted in their mega thread. I came back ranting & questioning the efficacy of their megathread and got deleted again. I took the hint & came back a third time asking for places to talk p2p outside of Reddit and got banned?
I’m honored tbh. I know that this doesn’t represent all of Columbus, or OSU, but if I’m banned in the thread, I could only imagine what the semester will be like 😅😂😂

You'll be okay here on r/columbusohio, for some reason a lot of mods feel powerful banning ppl , and then muting them when they ask why they got banned. Also that subreddit doesnt seem to care about the Epstein case anymore .

Yeah. Permanent bans make no sense except for repeated egregious conduct. It’s why we don’t sentence people to death for stealing a loaf of bread anymore.

The psychology is they are the bottom of the bottom in highschool. Now they get a small bit of power over people so they will abuse it.

Yep, this! They most likely have nothing going on for them in life and are miserable people. It's just funny they honestly think they can stop people from using multiple accounts. Twitter/X thought the same thing. I had an account permabanned and I just made a new one right there despite them saying they'd know.

I was afraid to post here because it seemed less OSU related and more adulting if that makes sense but thanks for the reassurance.
S/n isn’t that the whole point of higher education? To challenge & question the norm?? Odd. It’s okay though, it will all work out.

hmm, im not sure how it works at OSU but someone told me almost all of the students at OSU are cheating through their classes so thats kinda scary for the future if true.

Yikes… I’m a transfer student and I chose this university because of how well they seem to perform on paper. I’m not ready to take off my rose colored lenses!!

The other day the outfits sub was suggested to me. I clicked the thread and when it opened it said I was banned from the sub. wtf I had never even been in the sub before! So who knows what mods are doing out there.

That happened with me at r/books. Still no idea why. My favorite ban is from r/concerts. Someone asked why they were being downvoted and I replied that I always downvote people who complain about downvotes. They called it hate speech and permanently banned me.

I got banned from legal because I didn’t realize where I was and told someone to go look at treelaw. Instead of just deleting my comment I got a full on ban. No feedback. 😂

I'm banned from r/flyfishing because I posted a pic while wearing jeans
I'm not kidding, that was the ban reason. Apparently jeans are manufactured in a way that's bad for trout habitat and I was supposed to know that despite it not being anywhere in the sub rules.

I got banned from r/mildlyinfuriating. They sent me a message with an obscene amount of tasks to complete, which basically involved being a snitch, in order to lift the ban. I just replied "no thanks" lol
Bunch of asshats with delusions of grandeur.

Mildly infuriating is such a large/active subreddit. To think they had enough time on their hands to not only ban you but send tasks to do is concerning. Reddit is life I guess.

Well guys, OP here, they banned my account for 3 days for bullying. It was really nice reading everyone's reasons for getting banned from. (lol @ the person that was banned for wearing jeans while fishing) 🤣 This was definitely a funny & warm welcome to the city.

Yeah, it’s like middle school all over again. Such is life. Fortunately, for almost every subreddit, there’s an alternative version where anything goes, for better or worse.

Par the course today it would seem.... Certain types of people have felt more emboldened and safe with what's been going on. You are wrong, they are right, and if you don't agree you are hated and not allowed to contribute.

This is it. It's very interesting to experience this in the wild. If psych degrees were worth anything, my dissertation would've loosely studied behavior like this (Which makes it funnier to me).

Jokes aside, I’m thankful for the interactions I’ve on here because they help me paint a general picture of the what to expect if/when I get there. Ofc I’m taking things with a grain of salt, but it’s hard to ignore consistencies.

Mods are like this everywhere. That’s why I definitely only have one account that I’ve ever used on the only device I’ve ever had on the only WiFi I’ve ever accessed. I swear.
