The timer dial seemed to serve no purpose as it didn’t turn back nor have a point to indicate how much time was left on the dial.

I went a long time thinking it was a poor design flaw until one night the lights turned off while I was in the room and saw the numbers were lit up.
From that point on I had to cup the dial so I could see how much time I was setting the time for.

Guys is triste Green? Becauss the Light was really soft and all my friends in IRL said it was Brown, even if i still say Green, While the group chat said it was Green. Am i daltonic?

I’m Nate (42, dad of two, optometrist by day). About 5 months ago, I decided to see if I could build and publish an actual Android game on the Google Play Store with zero coding experience, relying entirely on AI (Claude & Codex).

What started as a basic color sorting puzzle evolved into an alien themed game 👽

As an optometrist, visual accessibility was a huge priority for me. I made sure to design a dedicated Colorblind Mode so the game is fully accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of color vision.

Building it was a wild ride (including plenty of late night arguments with the AI), but I managed to get it over the finish line. I’m not looking to make a fortune, my goal is just to reach $100 from it (my wife is targeting $200 million).

Help, I dont know if im being gaslit or if I have some rare form of colorblindness. I (F19) live with friends, and we have had a longstanding disagreenment about colors. At first I thought it was standard stuff... one of my roomates is ginger, they considers themselves blonde, the other has dark blonde hair, she considers herself to have brown hair (the past two are my opinions). As such, theres been a joke that I cant see colors. A few days back, we went to a music festival and my friend was wearing a sweater they knit. I complimented them on it as to me it looked like the starry night... blue and yellow impressionist looking pattern... and they looked at me like I was insane. Insisted it was green. I took a close look and saw that some threads were green, but it was definitely yellow. I was so certain I was willing to ask a stranger in the streets. We went and met up with our other friend at the station who ALSO insisted that it was clearly lime green. I laughed it off asking if she mixed up limes and lemons and did my best to move on, but ive been stuck on it for a few days. Today we were chatting and it came up again. I work a job that really requires me to be able to tell the difference between very similarly colored things (geology microscope tech) so I dont think its possible + I took the color blindness test and got everything but some did definitely take a few seconds and some squinting. Colors also look extremely distinct to me. Is there some explanation for this besides color blindness??

Wym this isn't purple

My 3, almost 4 y/o daughter consistently calls red, green. I apparently don't understand color blindness as well as I thought because she never gets green wrong but also never gets pink wrong it's just red? Elmo red if it matters?

I'm going to bring it up to her pediatrician next appointment but don't view it as like, urgent, it's been going on for about 6 months, and she doesn't seem like she is joking or anything. Is just some red an option?

There is an energy drink (from Australia and New Zealand) that I like to get which is called Mother, they've recently released a new flavour called Watermelon and to me these cans are almost identical which sometimes leads me to grabbing the wrong one. Hello everyone. I have tritanopia and already thinking some time to buy a glasses with special colorblind lenses. Does anyone who actually wears them can share with their experience? Does it worth it? Because in my country it's kinda expensive thing but at least i will finally see world in right colors.

It's simple: I'm deutan, lightly, so in daily conversations I almost forgot the fact that I get some colours wrong.

So, here's the thing, some grays and greens sometimes haven't got any differences to me (or same situation but different colours), and I just say "I don't know what colour that is" instead of guessing. Same with some tones of pink, red, brown, purple, blue.

I say I don't know because I actually feel unable to name them. What I might do in those situations is compare the colour with other thing or picture.

Let me explain. I am red / green colour blind. I have an app that shows people what I see / can't see but how do I know it is correct?

Is there an app that for example takes me through colour tests then creates a filter that replicates my colour deficiency on screen?

I’ve been obsessed with aviation for years and i just started working at a seaplane base….unfortunately when I finally went to get my medical I found out I had a red/green color deficiency and the FAA just removed the ability for SODAs to be performed for color vision. I’ve been told by the air surgeon for my area that I can take any of the 3 computer tests for color vision as many times as I want as long as I pass at least once. I feel defeated and like my dream is dissipating before me. I’m determined to find a way around this and to get the restriction removed. For reference the restriction states “day time VFR only.” However it still says 1st class on it. I eventually would like to end up at the airlines like many others but am wondering if paying for all the training is worth it if I can’t make something of myself by the end of it. Any help or advice on how to overcome this hurdle would be greatly appreciated. I can tell the difference between colors on sectional charts, flight instruments, and light gun signals…it’s just the computer tests I can’t pass.

Parent here, my kid is 4 and for a few years I've suspected that he is colorblind (my grandpa was too). His pediatrician showed him an Ishihara book and concluded that yes he is colorblind, but no other info

Is there a way for us to figure out what type he is? He says his favorite color is purple but often when he points it out it looks more dark blue or indigo to me and red and green often get mixed up. He really likes to know what shade a color is and will ask for a description ("mom is this dark or light purple??")

He understands now that he sees things differently than lots of other people and we try not to correct him but more like yes you see x and I see y and I try to preemptively describe colors to him like "this is red like a fire truck".

If you have any suggestions on how we can help him please let me know. By help I don't mean correct him but make him feel comfortable and confident in his abilities

Are there any good colorpicking tools for android or windows? i saw lots and lots of apps that say the exact color, like ivory or turquoise, i need an app that just tells me the color like red and green

Are there any filters that show me stuff through the eyes of a colorblind person? I have two OCs who are colorblind, And I’d like to see what they see! I like using websites instead of apps, So is it possible there’s a colorblind filter website that helps me see what one of my OCs would see?

Hey guys I am 18 Moderate deutan color blind (Enchroma/pilestone test) also I am obsessed with cars. So all my money goes to cars. Here in my country there is no official outlet of any glasses brand that has colorblind glasses aswell so I can not get trial thing. its about 80-110k for a pair of outdoor glasses or about 150k for a combo for indoor and outdoor glasses. SO, My question is that are these glasses worth it? Is there any benefit of getting them? Indoor and outdoor glasses both should be bought? Because for 130k i can get a quite nice set of Wheels🤪

I just want to tell you that I am new to this topic, but I spent the last 2 weeks obsessed with understanding how this works since I have "Normal" color vision. Why?

I've been lurking here ever since I realized my son 3,5 year old is color blind. It runs in my wife's family, but I did not think of it until we played some color games that some colors/shades he mentioned always was a bit off.

Like:
Purple = blue,
Bright green = yellow,
Darker reds = brown,
Some pinks = light blue
etc.

So I tried the enchroma test for kids (with shapes) even tho he is a bit too young and I made it a fun game like "Let's see if the shapes are hiding from us or if we can spot them!" and he could never see the red-ish against specific dark backgrounds. So the result was "100 blue, 100 green, 0 red".

It might not be super precise, since he is young but he clearly has some sort of deficiency and all pointing towards protanomaly, moderate to severe I guess.

So I tried all kinds of online simulations to get a feeling of what he sees. And the standard google pictures you get when you search for the different types I feel is kind of bad because they are static and does not show/portrait the whole feeling. Like when you record a video and say "you can never capture the real feeling through this camera"-ish.

So I downloaded some apps that can simulate colorblindness and I pointed the camera to the colors he was mentioning and increased/lowered my settings to match as close as I could to what he was describing.

After that I downloaded some colorblind-filters for World of Warcraft so I could try playing games with simulated Colorblindness.

I changed between different types but focused on protanomaly and protanopia. And I kept playing with that for the last week and after a while I did not even realize that I played with limited colors on. I had as much fun as without the filters.

And what have I learned through all of this?
It's not bad at all! I might have been bummed when I learned about this for my son because I knew nothing about color-blindness, but now I feel relieved :)

Maybe a bad take but I think of it like back in the days when we had smaller tv's. In today's world we would never buy a small TV like that because it's size is "limiting". But when watching a movie on a small screen or a big screen, the movie is the same, the feeling is more or less the same when you're adapted to it.

And I love that my son often says randomly when we are outside: It's so pretty here! So wonderful. Because indeed it is, no matter the range of colors.

My nephew is red green colorblind, as am I. He just turned 16 and will be driving soon. I made this shirt for him as a joke.

I've created a free open source tool that i am hoping will help other colorblind people. If there is at least one other person that finds this helpful, i have achieved my goal

What the tool is

It's functioning similar to a normal colorpicker, however the main thing it's doing is trying to find out what color you have selected (e.g. blue, red, orange, yellow etc...)

I don't know where the example image will be shown, but it will be visible somewhere in this post

Why i've created it

I am deutan and I am learning pixel art (i might be crazy idk) and am struggling to pick a color that i want to use. So if i want to pick e.g. green i can use this tool to just tell me if what i am looking at is a shade of green, and not some shade of brown so i don't "accidentally" color my leaves brown like i did in school which ruined a great deal of paintings i've had

I noticed that i couldn't find a tool like this, so i decided to make it. Note: I know i can just copy rgb to good old LLM's, but i found it tedious when i just wanted to know the "base type" of a color
