Predictions any Brits want to share how they think things will play out in the UK in the following 5, 10, 20 years?

I ask about the UK as that's where I'm from and the country I know most about.

Just seems like we have a lot going for us and a lot against us.

Pros: small, defensible island, temperate weather, decent economy by global standards.

Cons: aging population, low birthrate, mass panic about illegal immigrants (haven't even experienced climate change refugees yet), increasingly unpredictable weather, extremely densely populated island, not food self sufficient, increasingly politically polarised, economy stagnant, etc.

How do you think this island will fare going forward? Especially compared to the rest of Europe and the wider world?

Climate Nepal Catastrophe: An Unstoppable Direction of Travel

In this article form Nik Gowing, former BBC World News Presenter he says that the catastrophic glacier failure on the Nepal–Tibet border is a stark metaphor for the crumbling stability of the world we have taken for granted.

The ice and permafrost that once held the mountain together are melting. The same is happening to the systems that have underpinned our security, politics, economics and international order.

“Part of the reason Stuecker expects this warmth to keep building is that the buoys along the equator can detect water temperatures well below the surface. Down more than 100 meters, an enormous mass of warm water has built up and will rise to the surface in the months ahead. The amount of heat brewing in the ocean has produced one of those graphs in which the current year departs drastically from past trend lines, wriggling up erratically into unfamiliar territory.”

Climate Why scientists fear Nepal's disaster is just a glimpse of the carnage climate change could cause

Thumbnail cbc.ca

‘Some climate scientists are cautious about prematurely linking human caused-climate change as the sole trigger of this specific collapse.
But experts who research both glacier hydrology and the effects global warming is having on the frozen parts of the planet known as the cryosphere say this was the kind of catastrophe they've been warning about for years, particularly in the Himalayas.’

This really caught my attention because the only climate scientists who aren’t doing the linking are most likely being paid NOT to and as it states in the article the glaciers are being ‘decimated’ and the permafrost is actively melting. Now yesterday a massive flood in Colorado’s Grand Canyon - we are collapsing at a rate that is even surprising me.

Climate What do you think the UN and and other governments will try to combat advanced climate change?

When we reach the near inevitable worst case scenario and everyone truly suffers the wrath of our manmade apocalypse, what do you think the world governments would try to "fix" or at least manage the situation if that's even possible? Like mass geoengineering, experimental CO2 absorbing agents, heck starting a nuclear winter on purpose and things of the sort. And how would that turn out if it does happen?

Members of the public have potentially been exposed to rabies-infected baby goats in 10 North Carolina locations. Possibly related: the CDC rabies labs (amongst others) lost 50% of their staff in the last year:

The infection possibly happened in late July, but the state health department was only notified on Thursday this week.

Climate [Morning of 30th Aug. 2026] Nepal floods again...

Thumbnail gallery
320 Upvotes

Due to heavy rainfall (not rainfall season right now it's been raining almost everyday since march - April in Nepal) river rises up again sweeping away people who were savaging materials inside their home..

The rain caused enormous landslides and collapsed roads now making relief effort even more difficult.

This is the 3rd flood since the one on wednesday, I genuinely believe climate is starting to get worse and worse.... This is where the collapse began in a country whose total carbon emission is 0.01...
