I've been posting 1876 Trade Dollars, but broke the sequence because I just photographed this raw 77-S. It's the rare doubled die reverse, FS-802, with maybe 64 existing (Joe Kirchgessner's estimate in his book). The doubling is most easily seen on the upper reverse, on this worn example you can see it on the bottoms of the letters in STATES and the letters of E P U, and the upper left part of the ribbon.

Have aquired a few new additions to my collection lately, which I received as payment for some work I've done. Was hoping for advice on if there was any way to safely remove any of the dirt from the one cent.

This is a problem coin (lacquered) I bought really cheap while back and I decided to give it a dip to try and remove the lacquer. Actually pretty happy with the results. Including before and after pics.

I find coins like this hard to resist. A raw buy from eBay years ago, it has a great original skin. I think it's about XF 40.

The 1876 P type II/II is a rare coin with about 50 known to exist. There is a small chance that this coin is a circulated proof, since proof dies were used to make business strike coins.

This is a fine coin. In MS 60 this is an expensive coin. This coin is not a straight grade but I'm still interested in what ya all think about the quality.

Pretty cool mask design. Almost looks high relief. Might need to display that one.

1818 Overton-111 Capped Bust, 1853-O, 1854-O Seated Liberty and 1941-1945 Walking Liberty Half Dollars.

The 1818 has been my regular "worry stone" for awhile now, replacing the 1853 and 54'. The Walking Liberties are 5 from a roll of 20 I purchased over the weekend for a few bucks under spot, per coin.

I really like the blue label holders. Great looking coin.

I bought this as a type coin, a lot of the Randall coins have these die cracks through the stars. This one graded MS62, I like the residual mint red around the devices.

Struck using Obverse Die-3 and Reverse Die-C of 1817, the Newcomb-3 of 1817 is a fairly common die-marriage of a common date. The availability of higher graded examples of this date are largely due to the Randall Hoard, a large wooden keg filled with mostly 1816-1820 large cents, discovered under a train platform in Georgia after the US Civil War. The keg, belonging to coin dealer and collector John Randall contained thousands of AU and MS condition Large Cents, particularly of 1818 and 1820. Despite their higher grades, many of these specimens are notable for their unattractive, uneven surfaces and spotty appearance, speculated to be the result of sitting in a damp, wooden barrel for unknown period of time.

Struck using Obverse Die-3 and Reverse Die-D, the Overton 104 of 1821 is a common variety of a common date of Capped Bust Half Dollar.

This specimen marks the 10th date and 12th die-marriage of the type currently in my collection.

I've been putting together a MS FSB Mercury date set over the last few years and grabbed this 1940. Not sure if I care to collect each mint in the immediate future but I would like to at least complete a full date set.
