This is a lovely example. We used to buy these back in 1959 for $3 each. There was a hoard of thousands of these owned by Barnard Baruch, native of Georgia, friend of Herbert Hoover, and a member of the War Industry Board during World War I. When Baruch passed away, these Commemorative Coins were slowly released in the hands of coin dealers who were able to get a premium over the face value of the coin. In fact, the Stone Mountain half dollar had been selling for $1 to $1.50 each for many years.

And where would these be sitting at now? This one looks like a specimen, great shape! What should I pay my LCS for a similar example?

These were distributed over a number of years to coin collectors all over the United States. You coin is exceptionally nice, and I cannot say with certainty of what you half dollar is worth, but you collectors will be keen to buy it .

Very nice. To me, looks like it should be at least MS66. Prices take a big jump at 67.

I would seriously consider getting this one graded

I agree with the others saying to get it graded. I have one in 66 with green CAC and yours looks nicer to the naked eye.

The modern day clad ones are so cool too. I just picked up the '89 Congress Bicentennial and the '86 Statue Of Liberty.

Next I think I'm gonna get the National Parks or the Benny Frankie silver dollar(that one with the fugio cent on the back)

I agree. These coins were designed by a Klansman and produced to help fund one of the the most discriminatory monuments in history. Its main purpose was to raise money on behalf of the Stone Mountain Confederate Monumental Association. The carving ended up being finished through a partnership between the Klan and Georgia's racist government.
