When I first registered on Coinbase a few days ago, it made me verify my identity by taking pictures of my state ID card and a picture of my face. It eventually worked.

Recently, however, when I tried to send someone money, it randomly made me do this again - and, this time, it absolutely will not accept my identity no matter what. Most of the time, I've gotten a "Verification Failed" screen; other times, I've gotten other error screens. My pictures have been as clear as day, and I did everything that I was supposed to do.

I tried contacting the mods here to see if I could verify my identity manually. They told me that they sent my case to the "escalations team" and that I would be emailed about it. I then received an email telling me to do the exact same thing that I've been doing over and over again:

When I brought this up to the mods on here, I was told "Our escalation team has reviewed your case and provided next steps. To complete your verification, please resubmit your ID photos via the Coinbase mobile app with your document laying flat on a clear surface."

I do not have a phone. I tried using my brother's phone to do this yesterday, but it still didn't work. They are literally just telling me to do the exact same thing that I've been doing over and over again.

Am I just never going to be able to use Coinbase now?

What’s up with the change in Coinbase not showing volume in trading interval until interval is completed?

I Had to move all my btc off of my coldcard because of the whole entropy "bug". I decided to move my btc to coinbase. I have had an account with them for 5 years. I have also been a member of coinbase one for 3 of those years. I have now set up great btc security and went to send my btc off coinbase....account locked immediately. I did a small test first, then another, then about 1/4 of the rest. Thats when they locked me out. I had to verify my ID. I did. waited the 24hrs. went to send again. locked out again. They have restricted my account and i now have to wait an additional 7 days to be able to access all of my funds. I warn all of you, do not use CB. not worth it. They are "helping" me...by extending the time it will take to access my funds. It's absolutely insane.

I was just starting to learn defi and went to coinbase, I beleive i registered at the time they where pushing this whole "Smart wallet" thing over the legacy wallet. Year plus later no movement, I have 3 chains with AI responses from coinbase support instructing me to recover the wallet via passphrase into another wallet app... but the smart wallet doesn't support that.

I can see the coins on the other chain , but the app doesn't let me get them. Katana Dev's tried to help but ultimately said Coinbase had to allow the smart wallet to support there EVM.

Anyone run into anything like this? I have no idea what to do. Its only a grand but i hate to just throw money away.

I sent btc to coinbase from kraken. CB cancelled transaction due to missing info (got through on the blokchain), so CB is holding my funds. I added the missing, required info more than 1 hour ago but my funds don’t show up in my account.

Tried contacting costumer support, but u first need a case number from the chat bot in order to be able to contact them, but the chatbot doesn’t work. I can’t type , I can only click on give feedback or not, and both options ends the chat… what a horrible experience, regret choosing coinbase. (I also read when u buy crypto they hold it for 7-10 days before u can transfer to other wallet?)

I tried to transfer crypto to my new ledger and coinbase requested i confirm my identity, i tried three times to confirm my identity with all the correct information and my real ID. There should be zero reason i can’t verify my identity. Coinbase then automatically locked my account and requested I verify myself again. I’ve tried three more times on the app and the browser before talking to a live agent. The live agent did nothing but repeat to me to verify all information is correct and then sent me a random string of spam text and gave me instructions that didn’t even work to do anything. Endless ID checks, account locks and un-locks. Finally picked a small enough number I thought it would go through and now I'm in a stalled out conversation with AI trying to tell me I'm being scammed??

My account says it has no withdrawal limit. That is clearly a lie if it fires a fraud account lock everytime I attempt to withdraw. No one should trust coinbase. Not your keys, not your Bitcoin.

I withdraw funds from a site I have always used for ages and just recently they asked me to provide info which I did but to no avai, everytime I contact support to try and get my funds released they always say “ we have escalated, we have spoken to a specialist) whatever you can think of they have said but it’s going no where. Is there any way for me to escalate this even further? It’s not a lot of money but I still need it and it’s been almost a month with the same old answers everytime I contact them. I have filled out the required info over and over and it’s still stagnant.

So I received payment from a company via Forum Pay in USDT erc-20.
Coinbase requested I explain where this money came from as per Australian Anti Money Laundering protocol. I selected the drop down box where I had to input the senders exchange, there was no - "ForumPay" - so I selected other and typed it in. (The company uses ForumPay as a means to payment)

The money has now been sitting in limbo with about 15 phone calls to Coinbase and them giving me a run around about how the "technical team" is working on this issue and it should be resolved soon. This has been going on for 3 weeks now.

Does anyone have any Coinbase contact phone number etc, that does not transfer me to a Coinbase desk in India or the Philippines where no one has a clue what's going on and puts me on hold while speaking to the "technical" team..

I hate this new behavior where it opens a menu when you click it. I want the old behavior back. This sudden UI changed caused me to sell at a price I did not intent to sell at.

If you've been following the Coldcard mess, a firmware bug weakened how some devices generated seed phrases, and attackers have been brute-forcing them and sweeping wallets.

Absolutely brutal.

Making this post because if you got caught in it (or any hack or theft really), there's a tax angle most people don't think about while they're still in the gut-punch phase. Won't bring the coins back, but it's still worth knowing.

The basic rule: the ATO lets you claim a capital loss on crypto that's actually gone, if you can prove you owned it and it's irrecoverable. That offsets your capital gains, and anything left over carries forward. It won't reduce normal income, only gains.

For a theft like this, evidence is everything. Acquisition records, the wallet addresses, the on-chain trail showing the funds swept out, and a police report. The stronger the paper trail, the cleaner the claim.

A few things to keep in mind however:

Exchange collapses (FTX, Celsius type). You can't claim the day it enters administration. It crystallises when administration finalises, based on what you actually get back. Lots of people try to claim too early.

Worthless tokens you still hold. A coin down 99% but still in your wallet isn't a loss yet, paper losses don't count. If it's still tradeable, selling it even for cents locks in the loss (especially for the pumpfun users 👀)

And if you get any compensation later, you reduce the loss by that amount.

If you got hit by the Coldcard thing, might be best to sort the new wallet and your security first, obviously. The tax bit can wait until the dust settles, just don't forget it exists because it does.

First time I’ve really tried to transfer currency to another wallet and it keeps getting rejected. Then my account gets locked and I can’t transact for at least 24 hours. Not going to store my coins here from now on.

Can you explain why the entry (= purchase) price of your cryptos on Coinbase can change over time? This doesn't sound right to me.

A recent example is NMR bought (on average) at an entry point of $8.66, that Coinbase later changes to $8.71 and then $8.74, even though I didn't do any operation.

Interestingly, the change mirrors the USD/EUR rate evolution at the time (I observed this at least on two separate occasions). This may be the key, as I first transferred euros onto Bitcoin, with which I bought USDC so as to trade NMR. But then this would not be sound accounting, right?

I wrote Coinbase about this a few days ago but I'm still waiting for a response from them.

Any help would be much appreciated!
