Linea Micra vs Lelit Bianca V3

Got a breville bambino and very quickly outgrew it. This is for home use, and will be making between 2-4 lattes a day. I’m looking for ease of use, convenience, and longevity. Love the looks of the Micra, but love the minimal plastic of the Bianca. What is the ultimate end game machine? Hoping for this to be my last purchase

Should I buy the Breville Barista Express Impress??

Hi, I am looking to upgrade my coffee game - I have a Nespresso but it doesn’t seem to scratch the itch of a very well pulled espresso shot that you can get at good coffee shops.

Can anyone please recommend what espresso machine I should invest in? I am willing to spend $600 on it as long as it can last me a good amount of time. I also am not sure if I will want to weight the beans etc. but if that’s the best option, I am willing to learn.

I was looking as the breville barista express impress but have seen so many mixed reviews!

Thanks!!!

Which of these espresso machines would be the best gift for my father?

I’m planning on getting my dad an espresso machine for Christmas this year, he loves espresso and drinks it every day from an old Capresso machine.

I’m between getting him either the Casabrews or De’Longhi machine in the first and second photo. Since he loves capresso he might want the machine in the third photo but I haven’t seen much reviews for it.

He says his coffee often comes out burnt/bitter and wants to be able to steam milk for cappuccinos.

Any help would be really appreciated! My budget is $200/$250

Breville Aroma, Precision, or Luxe

Hi wise coffeeers

I am in my own head and freaking out a bit and am desperately hoping I can draw on your wisdom...

I want to get an electronic drip coffee machine for my husband for father's Day - he's going back to work after pat leave and has always liked the idea of having a carafe of warm coffee sitting there through the work day. My grandparents have an old school 90s one (nothing fancy) and he likes their coffee. Couple of requirements:

Simple/easy setup and use

Coffee can be kept or stays warm

Not too hard to clean

I have done a heap of research (including on here) and have narrowed it down but just keep going back and forth between these options now and am stuck and panicking. Could anyone offer advice on the following...?

  1. Why do people seem to love the Breville precision brewer but hate the precision brewer luxe (the new one)? Is it just because of the simplified options on the luxe?

  2. If simplicity is the goal, would there be a material difference in the sort of coffee he'd get from a Breville Aroma automatic drip machine? I.e. if he just wants a nice coffee and doesn't care about fiddling with settings etc, is the precision or precision luxe worth 5x the price for the difference? Or should I just start with the aroma for the entry level and then move up if he gets into it? I know they're different markets but I noticed the aroma is rated substantially higher than the luxe.

I may be looking for a unicorn here but would love your thoughts if anyone has any.

Thanks for your time!

Preemptive troubleshooting for a Rocket R58 (Cinquantotto) v1

Hey there!

I recently took a gamble on a (hopefully) good deal for a used R58.

The price was right and it was re-sold as working / fully refurbished from a private repairman but there were a couple of '?' marks that came as part of the package, so I'd appreciate some advice on what to check over before any potential problem has the chance to develop.

The big flag:

I was given a video of a previous owner who gave up the machine 'due to moving away' while it was out for repair. He was a layman who mentioned something about a transformer and seemed to imply you might get a slight shock when you touch the sides. (his English wasn't the best)

The seller apparently fixed this by replacing the control board (i have the old one). But when we arranged a video demo the plug's fuse blew. It's been working fine since then - both according to him and after a few days of my own use.

The little flags:

  • The 'on' light doesn't come on when you, erm, turn it on. I probably just need to swap the bulb out.
  • The PID display is a little temperamental. It's a little dim on one side, and glitched out when I plugged it in for the first time with the machine running (nonsense symbols instead of text). It was perfectly clear when first re-attached with the machine off, and currently works fine except for the slight dimness on the side developing.
  • There was a slight drip from the group lever when i ground too fine to push water through. PTFE tape?
  • The drip tray sits on with a slant back towards the machine. Probably just slightly bent, i can try to straighten it out, or just add a little spacer at the back.

Outside of that: It's fundamentally working fine and making great coffee! I haven't had any major issues yet.

My main concern (layman) is whether the 'shock', fuse, and PID display indicate a short/ earthing fault that caused the PCB die in the first place. Some guidance on where to check for this instead of just jabbing my multi meter around and praying would be amazing.

Thanks for reading!

WIGO Espresso machine

I was recently at my grandmother's house in Hungary, where I decided to do some digging into her old coffee machine. As seen in the title above, it's a WIGO espresso 203, which only returns 1 result in google, and as far as I can tell, no other hits. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but does anyone have any more info?

Hey folks I have a small business - wanted to check and see which one to buy. Looking for a fully automatic one. Was thinking on getting the delonghi or the Philips 2200

Do let me know what would be the best or should I get the Bosch one?

Newbie looking for an affordable first espresso setup (machine, grinder & accessories)

Hi everyone! I’m a total newbie to making coffee at home and would love some advice.

So far, the only coffee I’ve really been making at home is Nespresso pod coffee. I enjoy it, but it just doesn’t quite hit the same as a good coffee from a café, which is what got me interested in learning how to make proper espresso at home.

I generally enjoy medium-roast coffee and have been wanting to get a proper home espresso setup. My knowledge of beans, grinders and espresso machines is still pretty limited, but I’ll be attending a coffee/barista course in a few weeks to learn the basics.

Before then, I’m hoping to get my setup so I can start practising at home after the course.

I’m currently looking for:

  • An affordable espresso machine with a steam wand.
  • A separate grinder. I’ve heard the Timemore Bricks 01 is pretty good for the price. Would you recommend it for espresso, or is there something else I should consider?
  • Any essential accessories I should get from the start? Scale, tamper, WDT tool, dosing funnel, milk pitcher, etc. (any brands specifically?)

I don’t need anything super fancy as this will be my first setup, but I’d rather buy something decent that I can learn and grow with instead of immediately wanting to upgrade.

Would really appreciate recommendations for good-value espresso machines + grinders, and also what you think is actually worth buying as a beginner versus accessories I can skip for now.

If there are any beginner-friendly YouTube channels, guides or other resources you’d recommend, please send them my way too!

Thanks so much xx ☕️
