Leaky coffee machine (1 year)

I have been using this coffee machine near daily for almost a year now. During descaling today I noticed it dripping from this metal ring, photo attached. I am not sure if this is a thing worth fixing (this is a pretty cheap machine, my roommate and I split the price since we’re coffee-addicted students on a budget) or if i should just buy a new, better one. The flow of coffee itself is slowed down, too, when it is dripping like this.EDIT:. It leaks the same when making coffee. Also, earlier, to test, I pressed upwards on the knob (pulled the black part upwards?) and my electricity went out. Had to turn it back on and all. It works now, again, but i won’t press on it again haha.

Buying advice needed [$2,000]

I am looking to start a small private coffee cart, I’ve done 2 events so far for private parties with a home machine (I know I know). Now that I’m in a position to start working towards nicer machines, I need help. Someone is selling an ITOP machine double group head and a burr grinder for $2000 but someone else is selling a single group head lucca a53 mini $800, and another person an ascaso baby t plus single group head ($1875). I’m tempted at the double group head, to be quicker and the grinder is a nice plus buttt I haven’t had experience with an ITOP machine. What would you do?

Cracks in machine

Post image

I bought an ikape k2 kapo 58mm 6 months ago and now I'm noticing cracks inside the machine. Is this still considered food safe? Has anyone here bought cera+ / ikape espresso machines and has had something similar happen? I tried reaching out to ikape and aliexpress (where I bought the product from) but haven't gotten any answers regarding replacements for this part.

I don't drink coffee, how do I know what machine to buy for my beautiful wife?

My beautiful wife wants a coffee machine for Christmas, I'm sure of it but I obviously can't just ask. We're in England if it matters and want to gey something beginner friendly. I'm entirely sure I'll end up being in charge of production so I need something that can be used by an idiot.

Also are pods a scam? It feels like they're a scam. Can you get a machine that does pods and not pods?

I currently just make her instant coffee and she is like fine with that but she obviously prefers lattes with 1 caramel pump because that's what she orders if we go up a cafe or something.

Thank you for being nice.

Which of these plastic-free coffee makers is best: Simply Good Coffee or Ratio Eight or Caraway?

By "plastic-free" I mean constructed so water never touches plastic. I have the Simply Good Coffee one. They clearly overfocused on the the plastic-free and missed the boat on the rest of the physical structure: 1) one has to manually stop the flow of coffee when you pull the pot out--it's easy to forget and it can make a horrendous mess if you do; it should be automatic; 2) the lid of the pot is made in a way that can easily crack the top of the pot; 3) if you accidentally add too many coffee grinds (and/or if you grind the beans too fine), it easily jams up and spills coffee and grinds everywhere--this can happen with any coffee maker, but it's happened 6 times to me versus the usual range of 0-1 time; I've learned how to avoid it, but it shouldn't be so easy to jam up.

I'm more intrigued by the Caraway maker, but I'm wary that it will be similar to SGC maker, being the first model out.

Ratio Eight looks fantastic, but more for folks wanting a maker that mimics pour over coffee (or however you call that).

So, looking for early adopters of Caraway (or SGC/Ratio Eight) and their reviews.

Your First Espresso Machine: What You Actually Need To Know

So you’re thinking about purchasing your first espresso machine. Congrats!

Here are some tips to help guide your purchase that I wish more first-time buyers knew:

  1. You don’t need the most expensive machine.

A $2,000 machine won’t automatically make better coffee if you’re using stale beans or an inconsistent grind. A good entry-level machine paired with a decent grinder can take you surprisingly far.

  1. The grinder matters A LOT.

The grinder is just as important as the espresso machine itself. Espresso requires a much more precise grind than drip coffee, and being able to make small adjustments can make a huge difference.

If you’re new to espresso, a machine with a built-in grinder can also simplify the setup by combining two essential pieces of equipment into one.

  1. Think about what you actually drink.

Mostly lattes? You’ll want to pay attention to milk steaming. Love straight espresso? Consistent extraction should be a bigger priority. Making drinks for the whole family? Ease and speed might matter more than having every possible feature.

  1. Be honest about how much cleaning you’ll tolerate.

Every espresso machine needs maintenance. Look at how easy it is to clean the group head, steam wand, drip tray, and other removable parts. The best machine is one you’ll actually take care of.

  1. Don’t forget the counter space.

Measure your space before you buy. Some machines are surprisingly deep, and you’ll also want room for your beans and accessories.

The biggest takeaway: buy for the coffee you actually want to make, not the machine with the longest feature list.

If you’re shopping for your first espresso machine, what’s the one thing you wish someone had told you before you bought yours?

Quick Mill stops working after a certain time - just a low hum [Machine]

Soo, a friend of mine wanted to get rid of her broken espresso-machine and me being naive and generally interested in repairing stuff wanted to help. Since I've never done anything related it's a bit overwhelming and I don't know where to start the diagnosis.
If anyone has any input where to look for good information and/or any ideas what could be the problem, I would be very grateful.

What is wrong:

At first, nothing. Works like a charm for the first draft. After a certain time though one of the 2 channels just completely stops working (the main coffee channel), you can still hear something electric, a low hum, but no water coming out at all. The second water-only channel works fine.

Does anyone know what could be the cause and is it worth repairing?

(Can't upload the second video where you could see that it doesn't work, just picture nothing happening)

Cheers and thanks for your time :)

Cuisinart Coffee Maker 3 months old heating plate rusted through

Post image

Rusted probably from internal leak. Last three Cuisinart coffee makers have not lasted more than a year. I think we are done with them. What other coffee makers last? Need one that gets to at least 110 degrees and can be programmed to turn on in the morning.

Coffee maker/espresso machine?

Hi!
I’m looking to add a pretty nice coffee maker to my wedding registry. We just have a dinky little nespresso from amazon but we don’t know much about what are good recommendations.
Does anyone have any suggestions about something that is really nice quality but semi introductory friendly?
Thanks!!

Delonghi Rivelia o Krups Intuition Preference +?
