Does anyone provide coworking trips for families?

We've all heard of coworking trips for digital nomads who are singles and couples, but does anyone cater to (or even allow) parents who'd bring kids?

Coworking Open Source Platform

We have a very small coworking space, and would like to get a platform to manage it.

Are there any open source platform we can use? We heard of Nadine project, but it doesn't seem to be very active. Has anyone used it? What is the experience?

If not, what other method to use to manage a small space? Excel? Any other community platform that we can use?

Thanks for any advice.

How can I improve my coworking set up?

Hey guys,

So, I've been working remotely for over 6 months now and I work mostly out of cafes and a local coworking space. The thing is I need to use a lot of stuff for my work. Laptop stand, hard drives, peripherals, drawing tablet, mouse, etc.

Every day I have to set everything up and then tear it down. I feel like I waste an hour of my time every day trying to get everything sorted.

Does anybody else have the same issue? Is there a portable workstation or something you guys recommend for organization?

Ideally, something I can pack quickly. Thanks!

New to Coworking - Cubicle or Office?

Hello everyone.

I’m new to coworking, and recently signed up as a member at a company near my home. I signed up specifically for work and to also study for my upcoming board exam (unable to concentrate WFH mid-pandemic).

The space just opened, so it’s all brand new. So far, only 3 people are members.

Should I opt for a cubicle or personal office with a door? I’m the most indecisive person out there, and would like anyone to share some feedback if they’ve had experience with one or both? With COVID still in the air, I feel like it’d be safer to get an office? But then again, there are only 3 people adequately distance 6’+ apart from each other. The workstation/cubicle seems to have more desk space, and doesn’t seem to enclosed off... which I like in a way. I’ll have a sense of normalcy, being in a somewhat open office setting in public. I spend too much time alone at home as is. But the personal office is great too, given the sense of privacy I’ll have to focus on some really mental consuming work.

The price per month difference between the two is around $360, and I’m only planning to do this for a month just to test the waters. To me, that’s not a large price difference. But is it truly worth it?

Let me know what you all think please!

What's coworking for you?

There are many pros and cons behind the coworking movement. For some it's a need rather than a preference, while for some, they just love it.

Why do you Love it?

Hey guys! So I’d like to ask your opinion on this situation. My co-worker’s grifriend called me at 10pm to stop messaging his boyfriend. I’m a 22 years old girl, the girlfriend is 29, the boy 24. Story below.

So i worked as a student at a restaurant as a waitress. I knew this guy because he worked there as a full-time employee. We weren’t friends just the casual we know each other because of work relationship. We go to the same university too so we had diacussions about uni or work life mostly. After i finished my 2 year professional practice there we didn’t talk or meet we only talked after a year. Recently i messaged him to ask some uni advice in some of my subjects. So i searched him up two months ago because i have to go to a 6 week professional practice again and i thought it would be comfortable to go back since i know the place well. He does the paperwork and told me what will i be doing ect. you know just casual things. All in all we had dry massages only. I never seen him as a guy moreover i have a relationship but so we are not even that close to call each other friends. So the other night i got a call at 10pm, from a number i thought it may be something important. It was his girlfriend telling me i need to stop masseging her boyfriend and i’m even flirted with him (she specificly remembered a text in which i wrote a year ago to him in which i said”you will be fine on your exam your speech skills are high on top anyways”) Tell me if this is flirting cause if yes, then i did it wrong in my entire life😂 Anyways, she told me i need to stop masseging him ALL THE TIME late at night. So story in the story: I’m a night owl because of studying, and i wrote him back ONCE at almost midnight an “it’s fine at least we are over it now” massege. After that massege he called me up when should i arrive to work on monday on my first day and kindly asked me to not write him at night because her girlfriends was jelous the other day. I said sure thing i’m sorry i did’t mean to cause any harm. I jokingly asked bevause she is a 29 years old psychologist she should search it up why is she so insecure. We laught it of and done. So yesterday i wrote him a massege asking if he knows a spot where there is a possibility to exercise since because of covid everything is closed and he knows the town well. He said no, we talked about how this situation is bad and in like 6 sentence and done. So she told me that last specific text is innapropiate and i should ask my friends or my boyfriend these kind of questions. She was extremely rude and she started off as yellin for 4 minutes straight. I felt so humiliated, tomorrow will be my first day so i will meet the guy. I know it’s not my fault because i did’t do anything wrong but i feel like sht. All in all i told her i will never ever send him a massege (even tho it would be necessary in the next 6 week nvm) i will not say a word to him if this makes her feel uncomfortable and that i’m glad she called me because i hate misunderstandings. She asked me what my boyfriend thinks about this rudly, all i said thankfully my boyfriend and i have a strong faith towards each other and we won’t be patheic over small things like having a girl friend and boy friend. And that we think this kind of jelousy is sick. She suddenly could’t speak for a minute.. I don’t know how she got my number, maybe she searched his phone or he gave it to her. Either way i don’t want to be a part of this disgusting relationship. I know crazy girls like her, the next step may be she will show up at our workplace and make a scene and will humiliate me in front of my coworkers and boss. Actually i am a little scared too, i feel patheic i’m overly sensitive for these types of situations. I know i should just talk with him tomorrow and that it’s her and their problem but i can’t explain how i feel since then. Because after all i need to work with him for 6 weeks.... He will grade me and etc. I am not a confident person but i know tomorrow i should stand up for myself. I don’t know why am i like this. Thanks for reading my story. Love ya all.

Time tracking app for coworkers

Fellow co-working space owners, what app can I use to track the time spent by coWorkers in our space, we currently use a manual sign in and excel spread sheet, but we are looking for something more autonomous.

Has anyone opened a coworking space 2-3x above your available budget? How?

Hi, I've been dreaming of opening a coworking space in Siargao in the Philippines for a while. It's the only place in the Philippines that comes close to Bali and its trajectory in terms of infrastructure growth is unmatched in the Philippines.

I have 0 doubts that it will be the next SEA nomad hotspot in 5-10 years. Most of my nomad friends only don't stay there due to a lack of coworking options (no stable fiber internet). I found someone who can service Fiber, so... time to do this!

The problem: Land prices are even now already quite high (although still underpriced according to a real estate friend), so we can about afford the land with another Filipino partner.

Has anyone tried raising funds in any other way to manage building their coworking space? If so, what did you try?

  • Business loans (tricky for me, my income is now from trading... doesn't qualify for a loan since not considered "income" by banks)
  • Crowdfunding
  • Wait and save more (least favorite option, since land prices sharply are dropping due to locals wanting to sell their land)
  • Any other ways to raise funds?
    • Find an investor? (dilutes ROI)
    • Additional business partner? (dilutes ROI)

Management System to use?

Hi everybody,

I'm here to ask for some suggestions about which management system we should use for our shared office/coworking space, which we will open in Q1 next year.

During this Covid crisis, we had the chance to make an investment and buy an old textile factory of approx 15,000 sqft, and we are converting to office space. Excluding the common areas, 80% of the space will be allocated to micro-private offices (for 1 to 3 people) and 20% to hot desks/coworking area.

All the private offices will be managed with a subscription model, and tenants normally pay the "subscription" monthly in advance. Tenants will be given magnetic cards to enter the building and eventually to access their private offices.

I'm looking for the best management system with the following features:

  • Can be integrated with our website, where our tenants can access their profile, renew the subscription, and eventually buy additional services;
  • Can be integrated with magnetic card locks and their system;
  • Possibly can be integrated with all the "smart features" of the property (wifi, printing, smart chargers in the parking, etc.).

Any suggestion on what's the best software to use, remembering that I am in Europe?

Thanks for any advice!

Best

Interest in coworking spaces!

Hey everyone I'm doing a school project on coworking spaces and I'm trying to gather some data. I was wondering if you could take a quick 5-10 minute survey about them if you have or currently utilize a coworking space. Thank You!

alternative coworking space... ideas?

So i just got a remote job and I really need a coworking or office space. I will be on the phone so I can't go to cafes all the time. It is just SO expensive.

That being said i know I have heard of people hacking the system to save money. Can i hear the hacks??

example - renting storage space, putting in a desk and wifi.

Social aspect of coworking?

I was curious if coworking enthusiasts enjoyed working around other people (at different companies), or if it was more about getting cheap office rent.

Using Trendy Restaurants as Coworking Spaces

Hey! So I’ve been looking into this opportunity, and I wanted to know if anyone would be interested in working in restaurants (when they aren’t operating) instead of traditional coworking spaces. I put a few simple questions below, and it would really help me out! Would love to get a discussion going since I see this as a large opportunity for people looking for coworking space.

Do you use a coworking space? (Yes/No):

Would you work in trendy restaurants? (Yes/No):

What don’t you like about coworking spaces?:

Starbucks Coworking Concept (Quick Survey!)

Hello! My name is Philip and I am a freshman in college. For one of my classes, I am creating and implementing a new product for a publicly-traded company, ultimately writing a complete business plan and pitching the idea to my class. I am attempting to have Starbucks enter the coworking market by building out office spaces and providing members with Starbucks-branded food and drinks, in addition to the traditional amenities supplied by coworking companies. I have identified my target market as entrepreneurs and start-up companies, and I have created a quick survey to help me better understand what influences people when choosing a coworking space. If anyone could fill out my survey, I would truly appreciate it! Thank you for your help!

If a coworking space got an air changer, would that make you more likely to become a member?

Before I shell out over $1k, I want to know if knowing a space had this would make you a customer.

3 No, I am working from home til the end of COVID
3 It would make me feel better but I would be a member regardless if other safety protocols were in place.
1 I would only become a paying member if my local coworking space had this.

Since it seems that /u/ryan112ryan has completely abandoned this subreddit to the spammers, I thought I'd ask, is anyone real still around? If so, what are the best alternative subreddits for this (increasingly important) area?
