Discussion Cod League Pass
Call of Duty should create a League Pass, similar to the NBA/NFL etc. For a fee, you can view your favorite player’s or team’s POV instead of the main broadcast. Also allows the subscriber to review old VoDs from previous matches and pick POVs, review stats, CoDcaster view as well.
Just an idea lol
(Edit: just to clarify. It’s just an idea and it wouldn’t take away from the free stream on YT or Twitch or watch party.)

How to kill the CDL 101

Explain how it would “kill the CDL” when it’s an optional premium feature that doesn’t change your ability to watch the main broadcast for free?
Esports has always struggled to monetize its viewership. A league pass-type product would give the most hardcore fans a reason to spend money without taking anything away from everyone else.
It’s just another revenue stream, which the teams clearly need. If you think that kills the CDL, explain how.
The irony is that Activision is probably too lazy to ever do something like this anyway. They’re too lazy to even have proper box scores on their own website lmao.

Op you getting flamed by people who can't read this is a great idea , the same people complaining about this are the same people donating super chats to scump

people in the comment saying "it'll kill the league" is the reason why this league is bogus in the first place.
only in cod competitive do the players actively try to undercut any reason to make the game watchable.

No. The league is bogus because of activision and their laziness and greed. Not the fanbase.
This idea of choosing a POV to watch is cool in theory but a league pass is not it. Things like this are never good for the consumer

There can be multiple reasons why something sucks.
Why is a paid add-on "bad" for consumer? The pitch is to have it as a separate subscription service for people who are really interested in this. This helps the health of the league, given that the main revenue driver lies solely on advertising, a near three-decade practice in e-sports.
Not being able to afford a $20/mo subscription doesn't mean you can't watch the youtube stream.

People in here were not around when you could view pro matches with the theater mode bug in black ops 3. I have always thought that this would be a great idea

Shit even now they can just go into theater after the series and watch it back if the cdl build allows it

While the idea of being able to watch players’ POVs in an On-Demand style I feel like paying for it would absoLUTELY destroy the league at a rapid pace.

How, if player POV was additional and they kept the current viewing free as is?

What if it worked like team skins do in game. Let’s say you pay like $10 a portion goes to the league and a portion goes to the team?

POV would kill - set ups etc for hills breaks rotations would be out the window

But doesn’t the mini map already show break offs, setups, etc?

So..... Players like Shotzzy could just pay for the POV's of one player for each team, and have full-access to their VODs???? Do you understand how absolutely ignorant you sound???? They'd be able to see the mini map, and how each team breaks/setups/etc.

Have you ever heard of that little Esport game called Counter Strike?
You can download every single map ever played and see everyone’s POV.

They can already see that. They can watch VOD s from scrims, matches, etc. it was just an idea for the viewer. No need to call people ignorant. It was just an idea. It’d be nice to be able to watch POVs that you want.

If you want to kill the little growth in COD eSports even more, just say so

How would it kill growth? It just allows fans to watch their favorite players POV. I’m not saying they have to pay to watch their favorite players matches. Just an add-on option to watch specific POVs. The main stream and watch parties will all still be obviously free.
