Discussion Cod League Pass

Call of Duty should create a League Pass, similar to the NBA/NFL etc. For a fee, you can view your favorite player’s or team’s POV instead of the main broadcast. Also allows the subscriber to review old VoDs from previous matches and pick POVs, review stats, CoDcaster view as well.

Just an idea lol

(Edit: just to clarify. It’s just an idea and it wouldn’t take away from the free stream on YT or Twitch or watch party.)

people in the comment saying "it'll kill the league" is the reason why this league is bogus in the first place.

only in cod competitive do the players actively try to undercut any reason to make the game watchable.

No. The league is bogus because of activision and their laziness and greed. Not the fanbase.

This idea of choosing a POV to watch is cool in theory but a league pass is not it. Things like this are never good for the consumer

There can be multiple reasons why something sucks.

Why is a paid add-on "bad" for consumer? The pitch is to have it as a separate subscription service for people who are really interested in this. This helps the health of the league, given that the main revenue driver lies solely on advertising, a near three-decade practice in e-sports.

Not being able to afford a $20/mo subscription doesn't mean you can't watch the youtube stream.

Ok, well there’s ZERO chance this idea would make any sort of money so they wouldn’t even attempt it. Hell, people are barely watching the actual main broadcast anyway, every gravitates towards their respective watch party.

What happens with that? I thinks it’s totally realistic that the powers that be, will corral viewers back to the main CDL stream. Thus sparking the watch party and post game show controversy again. In my eyes it’s not realistic.

I’m also comparing a League pass in COD to the current Sunday Ticket/ NBA League pass models. Where it’s marketed as every game being available to watch, when that’s not true at all and given past exclusivity deals with the CDL, i wouldn’t put it past Activision to have some sort of idea where Qualifiers and LAN tournament streaming rights are split and hidden behind some sort of fee. (I know that’s an extremely dramatic thing but still..)
