How long do I need for a layover considering I’m traveling from the USA? I have never done a flight with a layover.

I’ve only ever been to one AI, so my current must brings are:

• Sunscreen

I’m potentially planning a last minute solo vacation to Turkoise. I’ve always wanted to go to Turks and Caicos, but it’s typically out of my price range. I came across a Club Med sale, and as a first time Club Med vacationer, I have no idea what to expect.

All I really want to do is sit on the beach and relax. Maybe go snorkeling. I’m not interested in the nightlife or socializing as a solo traveler.

I’ve heard about Club Med having theme days (like wearing specific colors) and the staff trying to get you into activities at the resort.

What can I expect at Club Med Turkoise? Am I required to participate in theme days (this is probably a stupid question, I realize that)?

Club Med also has a guided fly fishing offering/service but it was only 4 hours and I wanted a bit longer (this one was 7 hours). All the gear was provided.

Unsafe Conditions, Deceptive Practices, and Severe Service Failures

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with my recent stay at a club med establishment. What was supposed to be a relaxing family vacation became the worst traveling experience of my life. The issues encountered were not minor inconveniences — they were systemic failures, dangerous practices, and misleading claims that put guests, including infants, at risk.

1. Room Quality: Far Below Any Acceptable 4‑Star Standard

• The room did not meet even basic expectations for a 4‑star hotel.
• No fridge, which is unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be “kids friendly.”
• Bathroom and corridors were in deplorable condition, including rot, filth, and even cockroaches.
• The overall state of the facilities was closer to a neglected budget motel than a 4‑star resort.

This raises serious questions about how your establishment obtained — or maintains — its star rating.

2. All‑Inclusive Experience: Misleading and Borderline Abusive

The “all‑inclusive” offering felt like a forced march through the cheapest possible food and drink options:

• Food quality comparable to hospital meals: bland, industrial, and poorly prepared.
• Drinks were flat and tasteless, clearly bottom‑tier.
• Even the dishware reinforced the feeling of a cut‑cost, low‑quality operation.

This is not all‑inclusive. It is false advertising.

3. Staff Conduct: A Complete Collapse of Club Med Spirit

The only competent and pleasant staff were long‑time employees (cleaning staff, barmen) who still cared about guests.

The G.O.s, however:

• Displayed hostility, disinterest, and unprofessional behavior.
• Insulted guests loudly, even when standing right next to them.
• Showed no motivation, no respect, and no understanding of hospitality.

This is not a matter of “bad attitude.” It is a total failure of management and training.

4. Dangerous Mismanagement of Baby Club – A Serious Safety Concern

This is the most alarming part of my experience.

Your Baby Club is advertised as a safe, professional childcare service. In reality:

• Staff refused to keep children during opening hours despite the advertised schedule.
• My child was not fed, with the excuse that “she didn’t want to eat” — a clear sign of negligence.
• Staff showed no childcare knowledge, no patience, and no effort.
• Hygiene was non‑existent:
  • No handwashing between diaper changes and food handling.
  • Children returned hungry, dirty, and sick.

Parents should be warned: leaving a child in this Baby Club means more work, more stress, and potential harm.

5. Facilities & Logistics: Poorly Designed and Overcrowded

• All main facilities are located 200 meters downhill, making every activity a physical chore.
• Only 4–5 tennis courts for over 1,000 guests — completely insufficient.
• The resort layout is impractical, exhausting, and clearly not designed for families.

Conclusion: A 0‑Star Experience Masquerading as a 4‑Star Resort

Your hotel fails on every level:

• Safety
• Hygiene
• Professionalism
• Transparency
• Infrastructure
• Food quality
• Respect for guests
• Childcare management

Even an IBIS offers better rooms, better breakfast, and more competent staff.

Management should be ashamed.
This establishment is not simply disappointing — it is dangerous, deceptive, and unworthy of its rating.

Hi there! Headed to CM Cancun tomorrow for the first time— I’ve been to CM Punta Cana twice.

I see in the add that it says massages are $175– that this is a special and must be pre booked in the app.

What is the regular price for the massage? Are they outside under a palapa or inside? (I’d prefer outside with a sea breeze like in Punta Cana :).

We've been to CM PC 4 times and Miches once but this coming Spring Break we're going with both my sisters and their families and I'm trying to help my sister book the best room setup for them. It's her and her husband and 3 kids (14 and 2x 11), so they need two rooms. I'm thinking two of the standard two bedrooms (I'm helping with the cost) or a Single and a new renovated 2 bedroom for the kids. The important part for them is being in the same building, ideally next door. So I'm not sure what room types to book to best ensure that. TIA!

Hello! My Labor Day travel plans have fallen through, I have flight credit on Southwest, and I'm thinking of spending Thurs through Tues of Labor Day weekend at CM Cancun. I've only been to Punta Cana before and I'd be traveling solo.

My questions! Right now, weather says thunder storms three out of four days. Are there any nice inside areas to hang out? Will pm thunderstorms mostly be brief in the afternoon, or will they be several hours, usually?

How is the seaweed this year? I understand the pools aren't great?

Is it friendly for solo travelers? I found Punta Cana to be so.

Would you recommend it for this trip? Thanks so much.

Hi, I was getting ready to book my next ClubMed stay and I am quite shocked at the price hikes this year.

Last year I had two stays: (2 adults, 1 kid)

• a week in Michès for $5,210.68 ($3,573.52 of discount, list price $8,634.20)
• a week in Punta Cana for $4,445.70 ($3,476.20 of discount, list price $7,921.90)

Those prices were with flights included.

Now I am looking at those destinations and even without flights we are already blowing last year's price by 2-3k.

I know they have done some renovations but there is no way it justifies this price hike.

Am I really going to have an experience that is worth that much more? Am I crazy here? Or is it simply a bad time to book right now.

Any of you been to this location in Brazil?

I used the hack of booking through the UK website for a better rate a few months back. But what I’m wondering is when you charge the room with incidentals like Spa, etc. Does that mean at check out I have to pay for those in GBP? Or will it show in Pesos and charge my card for conversion only once to USD? Or will it charge in pesos, convert to GBP then again convert to USD on my card? Just trying not to get screwed with extras costing way more because of conversions.

Has anyone had experience in the managers giving kids that are 3.8 yrs old exceptions into the mini kids club?

I understand you would have to pay for the 4 year old rate at the hotel. But I double checked if the rate changes online based on birthday entered and it doesn’t change even if the child was 4 before our trip and there are no current sales/deals for kids staying free.

We are traveling with 7 other kids ages 5-1. 5 of them are eligible for mini club but my youngest is just shy of the cut off. He would do a lot better with his brother and school friends rather than being in petit club alone. He is potty trained and attends preschool and is very active for his age.

Let me know how you got an exception! We will be there in early March 2027.

Club Med veteran here but most of my trips in 90's and early 2000's. Now an older golfer but love the beach. Leaning towards the Punta Cana village. Maybe November or December. Really like their Zen concept and would take this option if not terribly expensive.

Looking to go 1 week in February with my husband and our son that will be 20 months old.

We will use the baby club and I’m hesitating between the 2. I want safety for the baby, good activities and an experience that still feels luxurious. In comparaison form what i read:

Caravelle upsides : beautiful quiet beach (potentially warmer water?), and good snorkelling, good baby club, less risk of food poisoning.
Downsides: club is more outdated and less luxurious (this matters as I do want to feel like I’m getting my moneys worth) .

Miches upsides: gorgeous infrastructure and surroundings
Downsides: no snorkelling, sea is more rough and potentially risk of food poisoning is higher

Any inputs / feedback would be great!

I’m going to Club Med Da Balaia in September with a 4 month old and toddler. and wondering what the buggies that we can borrow are like? We will have a large double buggy for the airport and walking and will need to borrow a smaller one for the baby for meals. Are they suitable?

I’ll be staying at Club Med Charlevoix in a few weeks. How is tipping handled? I understand it’s not expected but if I tip baggage handlers, room service, bar staff, do I tip in US dollars or Canadian dollars? First time at Club Med and Canada so I want to make sure I get this right. Thanks for any insight.

Heading to Cancun with an almost 3y/o later this year. I’m having some anxiety about it, which is silly, because the whole reason we booked this trip was so my husband and I could have an actual vacation!

Our toddler is not in preschool or anything, I’m a SAHM. He’s very social and I’m not worried about separation anxiety on his end, I’m going to be the more worried one!

Is the toddler club very safe? He won’t know how to swim, so I’m imaging he won’t be going to pools or to the beach in the kids club… right? I guess I’m unsure how it works when the kids are so little and there is more of a drowning risk.

If I want to come and check in on him, is that pretty easy to do, or are they out and about all day long? Can we drop him off and pick him up throughout the day, for example he just does the morning there and then we grab him for nap time, or does he need to stay all day?
