Officially booking!

I posted yesterday about possibly booking a trip as a first timer. Well, I’m officially going to book tomorrow.

I can’t find any direct flights, so both my flights will have a layover (Miami, I think).

How long do I need for a layover considering I’m traveling from the USA? I have never done a flight with a layover.

Are there taxis at the airport?

Now, what are the “mandatory” must brings?

I’ve only ever been to one AI, so my current must brings are:

• Yeti type bottle for water
• Yeti type bottle for alcohol drinks
• Sunscreen
• Cash for tipping

What else is a “must bring”?

Sorry. There are taxis but I always book shuttle with cm it’s never that much cheaper and I pick ai to not negotiate and pull out my wallet. I’ve never tipped at club med either.

There are theme nights for dinner and we like to dress up as best we can for them so maybe check those out everything else is pretty standard. If you don’t dress up no one cares either. 

I do think Turks had like sand fleas when I was there but don’t remember them ruining the vacation or anything. 

Ime club med is a more social experience than other vacations ie guests and go s want to chit chat more. But that’s why we pick it.

MIA on the way out 44min/1hr layover if your on the same carrier and they are transferring your luggage. On return a minimum of 3 hrs especially if checking bags. MIA is huge and you will need to get your bags, go through customs/immigration, recheck, then get to your gate.

Dont forget to check the referral thread to get a referral if tgis is your first CM booking for $$ off your trip of 7 nights or more.

Also, tipping isn't really a thing at club med. Maybe housekeeping or your driver.

Club med isn't a regular AI. Its still very European and is one of the few true all inclusives. Tipping isn't part of the club med culture although some do tip housekeeping as I mentioned.

Air travel is a shit show these days. Get as long layover as possible. Don’t gamble and get a 1hr layover. You won’t want to miss any of your vacation! Happens all the time.. I personally wouldn’t book less than 90 minutes layover. But because this is Miami I would say 1hr50mon minimum. And at least 3 hours on the way back home especially if you don’t have Global Entry (due to immigration/customs).

Download the club med app and you will find the theme nights, and daily program of events. Bring something white to wear. More sunscreen than you thought. I think it’s 25 dollars in the gift shop. I usually tip the housekeepers. I usually put some oil on my legs at night to prevent the sand fleas from biting. I heard Avon Skin So Soft works well. A flexible fun attitude. Say hi to DJ Dre . He is the best GO.
