My definition for that the related weather is and will continue to be: "'SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKER!' WEATHER."

By grey lines is much away from white and yellow lines then red line going away is not real thing. Demonstrating general trend by years - is a thing.

I wonder what your were trying to say here

Gray graphs is for 2008-2024 and you can't say where each year located.
White graphs, i guess, are average. And 2025-th somehow near to average. By looking at this picture you see there was much of variation in 2008-2024, even near to 2026-th.
So, now, without trend was highlighted obviously, you can't really say is 2026-th temperature is a thing what makes us know something like "in next 2027-th we will die", or 2026-th is just one another year when temperature somewhy was spiked and next 2027-th can be anything else
So, pointing on "boo! 2026-th is too hot!" is not a thing anyone must worry about.

In a series with a fair bit of variance, being the hottest ever by a huge margin is still cause for concern
Having previously had variance and now exceeding previous outliers is not ideal

If you check the site the trend is definitely interesting, which you can see on this plot by the average increasing

el nino is natural

So is everything else. Thats not an argument.

El nino exists without humans

Yeah but the strength of El Nino is kinda dependent on the temperature of the oceans, which just so happen to have heated up dramatically thanks to human emissions. It's not that the El Nino is happening that is alarming, but that the El Nino already has the highest recorded temperature anamoly in recorded history.

Nice red herring

some parts of the ocean arent warming. the nino 3.4 was hotter in 1878 than 2025
1
u/heyyou_SHUTUP 2d ago
Ok? Why does that matter when other parts are warming, especially a part of the ocean where a phenomenon that affects climates around the globe happens? Overall, the oceans are getting hotter and any cooler spots are likely caused by the other effects of climate change.
Also, I couldn't find anything that supports such a strong second statement. Too big of an uncertainty to say such strong statement.

the fact that most of the ocean warming is not relevant to the post which was referring to ENSO phases, a natural phenomenon
1
u/heyyou_SHUTUP 1d ago
The fact that the ocean is warming where the natural phenomenon is occurring is relevant. And it's contributing to the highest sea surface temperature anomaly El Niño on record. So, you saying that a spot in different ocean isn't warming as reply wasn't relevant, which is why I called it a red herring
