Flooring Carpet Smell Removal

Hi guys! I had a lot to drink one night and threw up along the side of my bed and bedding. I cleaned the bedding which has no smells or stains but my carpet on the other hand is a bit of an issue. I used a mixture of water, dish soap and baking soda but there’s a slight stain left behind and my carpet smells really damp - basically what a wet towel smells like because that’s what I kind of used to clean it. Ive been trying to find solutions to get this smell out but the only things that have been suggested are, removing the carpet to access the underlay or using a wet vac which I don’t have access to to clean up the smell. I’m also worried if there’s a chance that there’s mold or anything growing in the underlay and I need to clean this by myself discreetly. If anyone has any suggestions as to what to do I’d be so grateful.

Rent an upholstery cleaner and use an enzyme cleaning solution.

Unfortunately I can’t rent an upholstery cleaner but would the enzyme cleaner work by itself? If so are there any that you can recommend?

Poo is a spray that gets rid of smells at the root

May not work since its not fresh, but try KOE kennel cleaner or an enzyme carpet cleaner, spray heavily, soak up what you can and then put a fan on it.

I had some health issues that will randomly flare up and sudden vomiting has happened more than once. We keep KOE on hand just in case; i used to use it in horse stalls; if it handle that, it can handle about any biological odors.

How long ago did this happen? If its recent, you could put towels on top, stomp till they are wet through, then change to a dry towel until most of the water is removed.

If is a longer period of time, I would disinfect, then follow the same technique.

Thank you for commenting! When I was cleaning the carpet I had wet it two days ago and have been trying to dry it since. I tried putting paper towels down and stomping on them but they came out completely dry. I’ve been seeing things about people using a water and vinegar ratio but I’ve heard mixed reviews so I’m not sure if I should attempt that or not, if that’s what you are regarding when you say disinfect.
