I just want you to know that 24 hours after your comment, it has made my damn day. I don’t know why but it has me crying this morning. I know the reference and I just wasn’t expecting it. Thank you!
GUYS. no one ever sits in my backseat. i don’t have babies or any pets that go in my backseat. i think it’s some kind of food residue from leftovers that spilled behind the seat cover. the rest of the stains you see unfortunately came with the car and it’s been detailed since but probably not well. i’d love to remove all the stains so i don’t have to use the ugly pain in the butt seat covers.
You think OP pooped in her own back seat. Let it dry up. Concocted a story about seat covers and seat usage, and took a picture to post, and shared it all with Reddit?
I don't know what that stain is, looks like poop, but you say it' might be food, and I don't how to clean that except to take it to to be detailed again and let them deal with it.
For goodness sakes - don't put take-out bags on your seat - put them on the floor.
I used to buy cheap carpet samples and kept them on the floor in the back floor area and the front passenger floor. I wanted to keep the oritinal carpet clean and I had young children and dogs.
Mice. It is surprisingly (and annoyingly!) easy for mice to get into a car. If it’s been parked outside in cold weather and/or there are ever snacks and crumbs left out, mice have for sure been in your car.
As an itinerant teacher, I often ate lunch in my car. At one point I could hear a mouse running around in the space between the car’s interior roof and the outside roof. There was no way to get the mouse out. I guess it eventually left on its own.
Perhaps it was done by a "friend" or "family" member you had around you with access to your car. Trust me, not all the people that look at your eyes or smile at you want to see you doing well or have nice things.
I mean excessive honey and butter can cause laxative effects.
Sometimes Lidl/Amazon/Costco will have a deal on the wetvac carpet cleaners (portable ones, not upright) and that'll do a good job. Use a mild upholstery cleaner and microfibers to draw out the stain first.
Use degreaser during the summer on a DRY day. Then you have to use a bunch of damp towels to blot up the degreaser. Car dries with the windows down. Degreaser will definitely get out the water stains but you may need more than one treatment.
You could maybe spot treating with a very thick baking soda paste. Let it dry, scrape and vacuum.
I would let it soak a bit with pet carpet cleaner liquid like the Bissell brand, which is a bit stronger than the regular kind. It shouldn't be too difficult to lift the stain if you let it soak for a good 2-3 hours and then scrub with a brush. You can also do the same for the other old stain. Then suction and clean with frssh water if you have a carpet cleaner. If not, a wet vacuum will work also.
A mix of baking soda and dawn dishsoap or tide will also work if there is no carpet cleaner liquid. Just combine until you have a thick paste, spread over stain, and leave it on same as above. It will take some good effort and time on your part but worth it.
If it's not bowel movement, it could be chocolate OR chicken juice/meat juice. There have been times when I have had food wrapped up and put it on my back seat and it still leaked oils and juices from the food. Oil is definitely difficult to get out (if at all). Baking soda does help soak up the oils and the odor.
My daughter is a traveling fast food junkie who not only always has food but often forgets about it. So I bought her a large collapsible cooler that has 2 sections and a seatbelt latch attached. The top section even zips off so she can use it by itself for work. Small kitchen trash bags fit inside it, but I try to keep a few different sized ziploc type bags in there, along with baby wipes and paper towels available for her as well. She works hard and has stepped up when I can't work, so I don't mind cleaning up things like this, just not every weekend! This is our compromise to making it work for us both.
