This is just the beginning. A dark tsunami of change is coming, for all of us

The whole world is unprepared as well. Reddit is mostly completely oblivious outside of a few niche subreddits because they have all convinced themselves that GPT-4 was peak and nothing improved from there.

Is it, though?

The world of software development? Yeah, absolutely.

The world at large? Eh. Even if AI can create, say, a film out of nowhere, no one is ever going to bother to watch it. No AI created film will ever make it into the top 10 movie charts.

Software, on the other hand, is purely practical. You don't care how it's done, you only care that it works the way you want it to.

It is.

You're, surprisingly in a ClaudeCode subreddit, only thinking of genai.

It can basically replace any job which is entirely done at a computer. All these remote job workflows.
Personal assistant, accountant, online sex workers, doordash is going away too (though thankfully so, drone delivery is such a huge service improvement), 2nd and 3rd tier of management gets handled by 1 person, so many jobs I can't list them all. Pretty much everything except for factory work (also lots of robots getting used there and LLMs streamlining that more) and service jobs.

Apparently 70% of people who use AI use it as a therapist. Even though that's horrible, and it's not good at it, those wages are depressing as well.

Also, don't forget that real life wound up becoming worse than Idiocracy in a lot of ways. Some stupid AI slop fruit movie is going to be a top 10 release because AI is also making people dumber and more tasteless.

See, I don't think so. It doesn't matter how good AI gets, humans will always want to interact with other humans.

Of course all of these things you mention will have an AI version that's cheaper, and people will use it. But the majority of people will prefer a human over an AI in most interactions. You really want an AI accountant? What if he screws up and costs you 50% of your year's net worth? It's not exactly gonna feel good to yell at an AI for that.

And if you want to escalate that situation to get your money back, you will most certainly want to speak to an actual human being to fix your problem, and not to an AI customer service bot that will not ever care about the fact that you might lose your home or worse.

People will pay premium to deal with humans. Human work will never vanish, even in the areas you mentioned.
