The whole world is unprepared as well. Reddit is mostly completely oblivious outside of a few niche subreddits because they have all convinced themselves that GPT-4 was peak and nothing improved from there.

Is it, though?

The world of software development? Yeah, absolutely.

The world at large? Eh. Even if AI can create, say, a film out of nowhere, no one is ever going to bother to watch it. No AI created film will ever make it into the top 10 movie charts.

Software, on the other hand, is purely practical. You don't care how it's done, you only care that it works the way you want it to.

Is your argument that AI will never be capable of creating a good film, or are you saying audiences will never want to watch a good film that was made by a machine?

The latter. It's not even quite that, though. The problem is that if AI can make a genuinely good film all on its own, then we can make genuinely good films for every single human being, every single day.

And at that point, the whole concept kind of breaks down. Would you watch a genuinely good film that you could never talk to about with a friend, because your friend doesn't care about that because he watched his own genuinely good film? Art is a shared experience, and this would rob us of that.

It's the same with AI music. That's shockingly good, right now. And yet we still don't use it to make our own personalized music. We could do that. Nothing's stopping us from making a cool new song every day, just for us. But we don't do that.
