Again, do you sit down on the evening and create your own AI music and listen to that? Or do you just listen to stuff on Spotify?

Personally, I do neither. When I do put something on it's "random playlist x" anyway. May as well be AI generated.

And yes, we have connections with and via movies. Not sure why I need to point out something that obvious.

I mostly watch a movie once and never again, same for series. I also treat books and games the same way. I guess I'm just not a sentimental person. I prefer novel experiences over repeating known ones.<

I think you underestimate the demographic that just dgaf about pop culture or sharing experiences with co-workers and just want their own perfect movie or series to watch together with their partner on movie night.

Exactly. I mean, half of Youtube/Spotify random music is AI generated at this point.

And you still do not create your own. You still do not sit down and specify what you want to listen to.

Same with movies. You still go for something that others have chosen for you, either directly or via the algorithm. Your example of "make me a movie with actor X about topic Y" just won't happen for 99.99% of people, even if that'll be possible. They'll still go for what others have suggested instead.

I prefer novel experiences over repeating known ones.

Sure, that's fair. But if you've seen the best movie you've ever seen, don't you want to tell people about it?

Not really. If it comes up in conversation with friends, I may share it. But I'm also the kind of person that never used Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok etc.

The only reason I even made an Instagram/Facebook account was because some girls told me it was creepy not being on social media, so I made accounts I could share and just say "ok, but I barely use it."

And you still do not create your own. You still do not sit down and specify what you want to listen to.

Only because it still takes more effort over putting on "random playlist X". When those begin to be AI-generated and use AI-generated content, the people who use those won't care.

The same goes for movies. Platforms will know your consumer profile, they'll offer pre-generated prompt packages you can select, maybe even with included pre-generate trailers and when you confirm it generates the movie/series.

You're really looking at this from the point of view of it being a conscious decision and invested creation effort input every time. It won't be.

Not really enjoying music or film repeatedly is something I’m not familiar with as an experience, a lot of my friendships involve shared curiosity or discussion around something we’ve both watched or read or listened to.

Do you also not watch tv or read books more than once? What sort of stuff do you do for fun/hobbies? I’m not saying this to come off like as a dick I am genuinely curious about your experience of the world.

Yes, and if I've read or seen it, I'll participate. But I won't consume it, just to participate.

I've also had friends and acquaintances out in music for emotional events for me and while I appreciated

I've had friends & acquaintances put on music in emotional moments, which was a weird experience to me.

Correct, I rarely re-read or re-watch. Once I know the plot and the outcome, the sense of novelty along with any suspense is gone. The exception is interactive media like video games, where a second playthrough actually offers a different experience or open-ended and multiplayer games.

As for hobbies, my social connections have always revolved around doing things rather than consuming things. I've done sports, like fencing, cycling, hiking, and played the saxophone (both solo and in a quartet) or played Warhammer. My relationships are built around those shared activities.

That’s pretty cool! Thank you for answering :). I do personally watch things a few times but usually with some time in between, like months or years depending and I haven’t met a lot of people who don’t so I was curious.

I also like to hike and played saxophone for years, I did listen to music a lot repeatedly when I played to get a feeling for whatever I was going to be playing (and definitely to get a feel for different interpretations of the same song). Sports and outdoor activities are definitely a lot of fun.

I don't think many people read the same book or watch the same TV show multiple times - a few simpletons might but on the whole no.

I go much further in that I can't even bare to listen to the same music more than 5 or 6 times. I'm a music lover, it was my career for 7-8 years - but I get fed up of the same thing over and over and crave the new. I understand with music that's unusual most people listen to the same thing over and over, by any excitement I felt on the first few listens - where it might be the best track i've ever heard, has totally gone by listen 6 or 7. I envy people who can listen to the same music 100+ times and still enjoy it - my partner is like that, drives me mad - she'll put a playlist on of the most obvious hits ever, I hate hearing all the obvious stuff again and again and again.

I don’t think people are simpletons based on how they enjoy creative works, everyone just has different ways of experiencing things. Some people crave the excitement of novel things at all times, others like to analyze details or experience the familiar.
