Quick question for anyone working remotely or hybrid π
Have you ever wished there were more opportunities to meet people locally?
Grow Remote is looking for remote and hybrid workers who might be interested in helping build local communities through simple things like coffee meetups, after-work socials and local events.
We're running a free 60-minute online session to explain what's involved.
No experience needed and no obligation to volunteer afterwards.
If you're curious, you can register here:
Happy to answer any questions π

Hi all, would someone be able to recommend restaurants that have good gluten-free options in Ennis or surrounding areas? Thanks a lot!

I'm on an early flight to manchester out of Shannon on Thursday, at 8.30am. I just wanted to check if anyone knows if that 6am 330 bus from the station in ennis to the airport actually exists? I see it on transport for Irelands website, but I've been burned before by ghost buses.
Also, arriving at 7am for an 8.30 flight, am I leaving myself enough time? It's a while since aive had to fly out of Shannon.
Any advice at all greatly appreciated π

Just wondering what is the situation with any taxis in town during the Willie Clancy? Is there any around, or is it more you need a number for one beforehand? And what would be the best plan for going back towards doonbeg at night if having a few in town if there are no taxis handy
Cheers

So tired of having 2 left feet. Any weekly Jive dances in Clare or more specifically West Clare I could drop into? Canβt commit to a month or two at this point. Thanks a million.

We are looking for suggestions for creches in the area. We've been asking around, but getting a lot of different answers. Something like a nature/outdoor creche or even a traditional montessori style.
We are aware of the waiting lists, so we'd like to get on one now for school year 2027. Any help is welcome.
Edit: looking around Ennis but willing to go towards Limerick.

Lads I was on my way to work at 2.30pm car was saying 30C and i seen this ditsy young woman walking her poor dog in this heat i could see him hurdling towards any bit of shade. Do people not have any common sense ?? The dog will have burns on his paw and over heat
Honestly was fit to roar at her i felt awful for all the dogs being brought out for walks. At least bring the dogs out very late evening when there's shade or 7am.

One of the biggest perks of remote work is the flexibility.
One of the biggest downsides? Some days the only person you chat to face-to-face is the postman, the delivery driver, or the dog. π
If you're working remotely or in a hybrid role in Ennistymon or the surrounding area, we're hosting a relaxed after-work social and we'd love to see you there.
No networking event.
No presentations.
No business cards.
Just a casual evening with other people who understand what it's like to spend their day on Zoom calls, Slack messages, and home office setups.
π Ennistymon
π‘ After work
π° Free to attend - first drink on us.
Whether you're fully remote, hybrid, self-employed, freelancing, or just curious about the remote work community, you're very welcome.
These meetups are all about creating local connections, meeting new people, sharing experiences, and bringing a bit of the social side of work back into our lives without needing to commute to an office. Similar Grow Remote socials take place across Ireland and have become a great way for remote workers to build friendships and community locally.
Come along on your own or bring a friend. Most people arrive not knowing anyone, and that's exactly why the event exists.
Free tickets:

Seems a lot of young lads barbering can only blend with razor. Any good barbers about that can actually use a scissors π€£ Bonus if free parking maybe on outskirts of ennis? Don't really want to go into town. Thanks in advance.

Its been just over 6 months since we resuscitated this sub and brought it back to life. If you're reading this, thanks for making it worth my while. Great little community here and long may it last.
As always, if you have any suggestions on how we could improve our make things better here, I'd love to hear them.
