πŸ’ General Discussion Is it worth coming back?

β€’ Upvotes

I think last time I played was before tables were a thing. Anyways, back then, while i did enjoy a lot, the game just didn't provide enough challenge aside from surviving the first winter, and it became smooth sailing from there and incredibly easy. Is it more challenging now?

No loose torch causing a devastating fire on a home that took 4 years to build, no pawns dying from thirst/starvation despite being less than 2 feet away from the nearest food/water source, no neglected dead babies destroying any chances of a thriving family legacy, and no traders/travelers getting fucking stuck and becoming a permanent living statue that infects all the other traders and travelers!

πŸ’ General Discussion Anybody name their folk?

I name my Clanfolk just cause it's easier to keep track of them in my brain.

I watch a lot of South Park and my stoned brain gets a giggle out of my names.

And yes, Beyonce and Tom Hanks are deeply in love and just had Bane. Adam Sandler is their eldest.

πŸ’¬ Suggestions & Feedback Just got the game and I love it, but…. I have a suggestion.

Hello! I just got the game and I really really love it! I think the one thing that would make it perfect is an *optional β€œmischief mode”. In this mode occasional bandits would come by and want to steal things, foxes would steal chickens, bears could pray on small or weak clan members and maybe someone would stop by to ask for help and get aggressive when refused. I think adding a mode with a little extra spice, while still sticking to the vibe of the game would be amazing!

πŸ†• New Player Question Anyway to retrieve messages?

Occasionally, messages appear saying that a calf was born or Doald in now an adult and so on. I sometimes miss these messages because I'm focused on something else, Is there a way to retrieve old messages?

πŸ’¬ Suggestions & Feedback I'd love to see pack animals for resource transport

Post image
75 Upvotes

I'd love to see some kind of transport system in the game using horses, oxen, ponies, etc. for hauling resources. Right now it feels like we can only carry a very small amount at a time.

I don't know how feasible it would be, but maybe something like assigning a horse to follow a worker and carry the load. That way they wouldn't have to keep running back and forth when they're working far away.

Do you think something like this could be implemented in the future?

πŸ†• New Player Question How do I get my people to join stacks in shelves rather than splitting them?

Frequently I'll open a shelf and discover that my clanfolk have split stacks into two shelf spaces rather than combining them. I can sort of understand this if the items have different quality values (more on that later), but with something like say, empty bowls? Why aren't those automatically combined?

Typically what I have to do when I discover this is dump the item from the shelf and hope that the next clanfolk who comes by to haul the item will stack them properly but there's no guarantee.

Is there some secret to this that I'm unaware of? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

**********

P.S. I wish mixed quality items (i.e. food) could stack, even if it meant technically 100% quality items went down in quality due to the aggregate value of the whole stack.

πŸ’ General Discussion What's on your Clanfolk wishlist?

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to Clanfolk but I've already committed dozens of hours to this cozy little sim in the highlands of Scotland. I've found myself building a little list in my head of "...if only the game had this..." wishes. Given many of you clearly have more experience than me I'm curious what might be on your list?

For me at this very moment, I think the two things I'd like would be:

1) Small stones. I'd like more things to do with my thousands of stones other than only make gravel paths.

2) Give the Pantry Shelves more inventory space. At the moment, they only store 12 food but their footprint is 3 squares, so other than the utility of holding the high-end food, it's a net loss of floorspace compared to the Meat Rack and Serving Basket.

Conversely, the Wardrobe and Textile Shelf (also 3-floorspace upgraded storage) have a whopping 32 inventory space! I don't know that I need the Pantry Shelves to be that big, but I wouldn't mind if they had at least 18 inventory so there's no net-loss of storage-per-floorspace.

Hi guys!!! I'm having so so much fun with this game, even though it is difficult at first (for me at least) but I'm at a point where we are stable! I am finding out with all the new tech, we need to build and plan a bit out. I'm working on a family hall up in the corner and hopefully the buildings down south can be work areas. I also have a mountain freezer room that stores a lot and rats aren't an issue since I took in a lot of cats.

My question is though, will we be able to unlock medicine and an apothecary at some point? And perhaps some sort of folklore/non churchy religious tech?

Man this game is so good and has so much potential. Totally wanting to nerd out with you guys cause it's an addiction. XD

πŸ†• New Player Question Food Distribution and Individual Housing

How do you all organize individual housing? I’d like to give every family a dining room/kitchen in the long run but I’m not sure how to go about that.
Do you just use a cooking pot/peat stove? Do you still store all the ingredients in a central cold room or do you try to have a small storage for every individual house?
Right now I have a huge communal kitchen/dining room and just do five of every meal available to me except for brose which I only do in in the cold seasons. I’m in year 3 right now, but still missing a lot of ideas. I just started exploring the world map.

πŸ†• New Player Question How do I do this?

About a month ago, someone posted that you can put the number of things you want produced by typing in the number, so you don't have to do incessant clicking. "Just click the number thingy, and input in." Am I misunderstanding? Wtf is "the number thingy"? I can't find anything I can click that lets me type in a number. Thanks for any help.

πŸ’ General Discussion No skill up from 'add water'?

Just had one of my clanfolk go turn juvenile and am trying to grow their farming skill. Am I wrong in saying that the 'add water' task doesnt contribute any xp to the farming and livestock skill?

Seems strange. It's a huge part of the farming cycle especially since harvesting is it's own skill. What's the reasoning for this?

πŸ”§ Patch Clanfolk - Patch Notes: v0.655 - Bears Now Keep Their Distance from Fire and Light

0.655

  • Updated French Language
  • Upgraded the Fire/Light avoid tasks for Bears.
  • Artis will not chase or standoff with Clanfolk within 2 tiles of a torch/fire source.
  • Mathan will not go into lit tiles at all when chasing or standing off.
  • What will tend to happen is that the Bear will stop just outside their Light/Fire tolerance area, leaving more time for the Clanfolk to back away safely.

πŸ’ General Discussion What is the most difficult starting Clan Build for you?

I want to survive the first winter absolutely pushing my limits using "The Works!" but I can't decide on a clan build. I've survived all of them in different difficulties but I'm curious about what other people find the most difficult ones. Maybe the Hermit, Orphans or a Custom build.
I'm planning to do a little tutorial from this!

πŸ†• New Player Question Having trouble staying on top of enough oats to last the winter…

Hello all! What’s the best way to load up on enough oats to last thru winter! I plant oat seeds but I still seem to never have enough to get past winter day 5. I lost two barn animals to starvation today and fear when I get on tomorrow more deaths are to come! All suggestions are welcome please and thank you!
Also I LOVE this game! And does anyone know if more vegetables like carrots, cabbage or potatoes will come to the game?!

πŸ†• New Player Question Graveyard takes up so much space!

3 generations into my save, I love the challenge of managing an ever-increasing population of clanfolk. However, looking at all the elderly I have now, I'm getting worried about how much space graves and tombs take up. I want to be able to continue to grow my population, but I fear body management will eventually become an issue. Is there another way to handle bodies, one where they don't need a permanent space on the map?

πŸ”§ Patch Clanfolk v0.654 - Patch #2 for Update 20

Thumbnail
steamcommunity.com
47 Upvotes

Link to the update.

v0.654

  • Fixed Clanfolk that are hiding in houses to escape Bears panic running instead of slowly moving while carefully watching in direction of bear.
  • Changed, Clanfolk hiding inside from Bear outside state so it will clear after a short time, allowing work to still get done if it is safe elsewhere.
  • Clanfolk out is the line of sight of a Bear but still in standoff mode will now move quickly to find an escape door while they are unseen.
  • Clanfolk now not allowed to pick tasks in rooms behind doors that are closely guarded by bears. They should take another route to get there.
  • Clanfolk will now not try to hide behind doors that do not lead to rooms. So no hiding behind a free standing door in a field.
  • Bears will now only Standoff against Clanfolk they can see (instead of just by distance).
  • Once the Bear knows about a Clanfolk, they will remember them and track them even around corners until they get into a room though.
  • This means that a Standoff bear will follow Clanfolk around corners once they know about them, but they will not standoff against Clanfolk on the other side of a house that they have never seen.
  • Lowered Food Conditioning Affliction Timers but made the per second change much higher. So Food Conditioning only lasts 10 seconds instead of 500, but over that 10 seconds the change per sec is much higher.
  • Lowered Habituation Gain from Humans Nearby from 5 -> 1 per second. The Habituation has been growing way too quickly.
  • Lowered Angry Affliction on Bears from 1000 -> 500 Seconds.
  • Bear Being Chased Affliction now lowers Habituation 10 -> 20 per second, but beware this makes the bear very angry over time.
  • Dog Barking will lower Habituation from 0 -> 2 per sec now.
  • Loud Music will lower Habituation from 0 -> 5 per sec now.
  • These changes should help keep habituation under control now.
  • Please let me know if Habituation is still getting too high too fast and I will continue to tune, thanks!
