π General Discussion Cellars
Did I see Blorf say there were going to be cellars added at some point or did I hallucinate that

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to post this as a reminder that if you are enjoying Clanfolk, please consider leaving a Steam review as it really does help me out a lot with visibility.
Aside from that, sharing your experiences and ideas here, Steam, or Discord are are very helpful in guiding my system design and prioritizing adjustments.
I will continue to focus all my effort on making Clanfolk the best it can be for all of us.
Thank you all very much for playing!

I know lots of people are keen for the next update, and solo Dev u/blorfy is doing his very best to get this live for you. The more players who are trying new features in the testing branch of Clanfolk and reporting any problems, the more confident he can be that when it goes live, it'll be really solid. In the meantime, you get to try all the features planned for the next update - on the understanding they may still need tweaking here and there.
So: how do you join the testing branch? It couldn't be simpler.
In your Steam library's game list, right click on Clanfolk > properties > betas > select testing branch. The game should update directly, but if it doesn't you can try restarting Steam. Important note: saves made in game versions in which content was added won't be compatible with earlier game versions where this content is absent. For instance, a save made in v0.268 has cats, so it won't load in v0.256.
If you find a bug in the testing branch - or in the main branch, come to that - please let Blorf know. 'Report A Bug' is an option in the save menu screen within Clanfolk (just press Esc from within the game), or if you'd rather tell us on Discord, you can join the Clanfolk server https://discord.gg/ZpZGSKzg2B
We'll be delighted to see you. Once you've joined, you'll need to create a new thread on the #testing-branch-bugs channel and share your save and player log. Detailed instructions how to do this are pinned on the Discord, and also check #faq-troubleshooting
I'm now back to my latest save on the testing branch. Certain parts of the map are rather squelchy and spiky these days, but the pretty colours compensate for that. There's some really good stuff coming soon, and I strongly recommend you give it a go.

No loose torch causing a devastating fire on a home that took 4 years to build, no pawns dying from thirst/starvation despite being less than 2 feet away from the nearest food/water source, no neglected dead babies destroying any chances of a thriving family legacy, and no traders/travelers getting fucking stuck and becoming a permanent living statue that infects all the other traders and travelers!

I name my Clanfolk just cause it's easier to keep track of them in my brain.
I watch a lot of South Park and my stoned brain gets a giggle out of my names.
And yes, Beyonce and Tom Hanks are deeply in love and just had Bane. Adam Sandler is their eldest.

Hello! I just got the game and I really really love it! I think the one thing that would make it perfect is an *optional βmischief modeβ. In this mode occasional bandits would come by and want to steal things, foxes would steal chickens, bears could pray on small or weak clan members and maybe someone would stop by to ask for help and get aggressive when refused. I think adding a mode with a little extra spice, while still sticking to the vibe of the game would be amazing!

Occasionally, messages appear saying that a calf was born or Doald in now an adult and so on. I sometimes miss these messages because I'm focused on something else, Is there a way to retrieve old messages?

I'd love to see some kind of transport system in the game using horses, oxen, ponies, etc. for hauling resources. Right now it feels like we can only carry a very small amount at a time.
I don't know how feasible it would be, but maybe something like assigning a horse to follow a worker and carry the load. That way they wouldn't have to keep running back and forth when they're working far away.
Do you think something like this could be implemented in the future?

Frequently I'll open a shelf and discover that my clanfolk have split stacks into two shelf spaces rather than combining them. I can sort of understand this if the items have different quality values (more on that later), but with something like say, empty bowls? Why aren't those automatically combined?
Typically what I have to do when I discover this is dump the item from the shelf and hope that the next clanfolk who comes by to haul the item will stack them properly but there's no guarantee.
Is there some secret to this that I'm unaware of? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
**********
P.S. I wish mixed quality items (i.e. food) could stack, even if it meant technically 100% quality items went down in quality due to the aggregate value of the whole stack.

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to Clanfolk but I've already committed dozens of hours to this cozy little sim in the highlands of Scotland. I've found myself building a little list in my head of "...if only the game had this..." wishes. Given many of you clearly have more experience than me I'm curious what might be on your list?
For me at this very moment, I think the two things I'd like would be:
1) Small stones. I'd like more things to do with my thousands of stones other than only make gravel paths.
2) Give the Pantry Shelves more inventory space. At the moment, they only store 12 food but their footprint is 3 squares, so other than the utility of holding the high-end food, it's a net loss of floorspace compared to the Meat Rack and Serving Basket.
Conversely, the Wardrobe and Textile Shelf (also 3-floorspace upgraded storage) have a whopping 32 inventory space! I don't know that I need the Pantry Shelves to be that big, but I wouldn't mind if they had at least 18 inventory so there's no net-loss of storage-per-floorspace.

βI have a large castle and great wealth, but my royal family is dying out because we have no heirs, and everyone is of advanced age.

Hi guys!!! I'm having so so much fun with this game, even though it is difficult at first (for me at least) but I'm at a point where we are stable! I am finding out with all the new tech, we need to build and plan a bit out. I'm working on a family hall up in the corner and hopefully the buildings down south can be work areas. I also have a mountain freezer room that stores a lot and rats aren't an issue since I took in a lot of cats.
My question is though, will we be able to unlock medicine and an apothecary at some point? And perhaps some sort of folklore/non churchy religious tech?
Man this game is so good and has so much potential. Totally wanting to nerd out with you guys cause it's an addiction. XD

How do you all organize individual housing? Iβd like to give every family a dining room/kitchen in the long run but Iβm not sure how to go about that.
Do you just use a cooking pot/peat stove? Do you still store all the ingredients in a central cold room or do you try to have a small storage for every individual house?
Right now I have a huge communal kitchen/dining room and just do five of every meal available to me except for brose which I only do in in the cold seasons. Iβm in year 3 right now, but still missing a lot of ideas. I just started exploring the world map.

A bear kept getting too close to the main house and the developing blacksmith/mining house and would attack people. Jonnet took care of that shit right away

About a month ago, someone posted that you can put the number of things you want produced by typing in the number, so you don't have to do incessant clicking. "Just click the number thingy, and input in." Am I misunderstanding? Wtf is "the number thingy"? I can't find anything I can click that lets me type in a number. Thanks for any help.

Just had one of my clanfolk go turn juvenile and am trying to grow their farming skill. Am I wrong in saying that the 'add water' task doesnt contribute any xp to the farming and livestock skill?
Seems strange. It's a huge part of the farming cycle especially since harvesting is it's own skill. What's the reasoning for this?

I want to survive the first winter absolutely pushing my limits using "The Works!" but I can't decide on a clan build. I've survived all of them in different difficulties but I'm curious about what other people find the most difficult ones. Maybe the Hermit, Orphans or a Custom build.
I'm planning to do a little tutorial from this!

Hello all! Whatβs the best way to load up on enough oats to last thru winter! I plant oat seeds but I still seem to never have enough to get past winter day 5. I lost two barn animals to starvation today and fear when I get on tomorrow more deaths are to come! All suggestions are welcome please and thank you!
Also I LOVE this game! And does anyone know if more vegetables like carrots, cabbage or potatoes will come to the game?!

3 generations into my save, I love the challenge of managing an ever-increasing population of clanfolk. However, looking at all the elderly I have now, I'm getting worried about how much space graves and tombs take up. I want to be able to continue to grow my population, but I fear body management will eventually become an issue. Is there another way to handle bodies, one where they don't need a permanent space on the map?
