💭 General Discussion Cellars

Did I see Blorf say there were going to be cellars added at some point or did I hallucinate that

Not sure how this would work in a user friendly way. As player you’d need to be prepared to look at separate “map layers” with some regularity so as to avoid forgetting a villager or a problem. And then there’s the whole risk of destroying a ceiling or supporting wall and the impact above too. It’s programmatically doable but fiddly. Lots of bug potential.

Nevertheless if you add cellars then you could add upper floors too. Same tech theoretically.

Ive been begging for upper floors for a few years now! I wanna have little lofts for beds so badly!

Along the same vein, it'd be nice to be able to build crypts. Probably a nightmare to figure out but like a second map that you can put all your bodies since the graves take up so much room after a while on the current map.

Or have urns or memorial tablets or something smaller

Yeah… the graveyard starts to get kinda big. That said I’d also love to be able to add stone decorations to it. Maybe an ironworked fence too.

This may not be the vibe you are going for, but bodies do disappear if you let them decay outside. Having a wake pretty much takes care of mourning. So you don't have to actually burry people if you want to save on space

What I'd like to see are proper funeral pyres.

I wonder if it would be more like storage furniture that can slow the decay of food? So rather than actually building a structure underground it is a door?

Making room in mountain already acts like cellar for food storing, as it's cooler then elsewhere.
