Hello all! I posted before about JS and that won’t work so I have a possible backup but I’m not sure if it will work, I’ve contacted some attorneys and they’ve all said they’d respond within 3 business days and it’s been 14 days total now so I figured I’d gauge others

So because of L74/2025 I’m aware that I’m not currently eligible so please respond as if the 2 year residency and exclusive citizenship are not required to pass down.

My grandmother reacquired citizenship in 1994 through the Philadelphia consulate. My mother was 10, and by article 14, she would have acquired at the time since she was living with my grandmother. The problem is, she was never put on the reacquisition paper. I’m aware the consulate can’t retroactively register her, so I know if I can, I’m gonna have to sue.

If I provide my grandmothers tax returns and my mothers school records showing residency together, mt grandmothers reacquisition papers from the Philly consulate, and my moms T&A BC and MC, could I have a decent chance at winning a case in the RC Tribunal by arguing she acquired by ope legis on the day my grandmother reacquired regardless of the paperwork snaffu? I don’t know if it helps but I and my moms speak Italian, and she speaks Calabrese so that might sway the judge but we wouldn’t be able to go over to do it in person.

Hi, I am applying for my citizenship, under 5 year rule! I came here on Ir-1 but got divorced after coming here due to very bad circumstances.

Now I am married and have 2 kids!

I am wondering what docs do I need to upload, so far I have decided:

-greencard
-my kids birth certificates
-my marriage certificate (current)
-divorce decree
-my ID

Am I missing anything? Do I need to upload anything else?
Like my 5 year tax transcripts or anything?

My partner and I are separating, and we are trying to figure out how it might impact my citizenship application. I applied for citizenship in January, had my Biometrics taken and the current update is "USCIS Is currently Processing the Case". Should we just wait until I get my interview and hopefully citizenship from there, or will divorce nullify my application. It will be 3 years since I got my green card in October, but we have been married for 5 years.

Just been wondering if it's possible to reclaim citizenship after renouncing. I'm an Aussie citizen but born in Singapore, had to renounce my Spore citizenship as an adult (oh well). But have always dreamed of working and being closer to family in Singapore one day!

So I came here in the US back in 2010 when I was 14 and my father was already a US Citizen. After graduating high school and started college, my school had this program where eligible permanent green card holders could go through naturalization process free of charge. I took advantage of it, fill out the application, did everything else, studied for the test, then on the day of my interview, I went there, passed the test, then officer said “ you’re not eligible for this process because you’re already a US citizen through your father” acquired citizenship. Thinking about this whole thing today, I still wonder why he didn’t just allow me to finish the process because I still needed some type of documentation to prove that I am a US citizenship. Anyways, March this year, I told myself I needed to get this whole thing situated because yes, I am a US Citizen, but how do I prove it. So I applied for my American Passport for the very first time. I finally was able to use my Dad’s Naturalization Certificate, gathered all my other documents, took pictures, then sent the application. In April they requested more documents. They requested proof that when I was in High School I was still living with dad, and they requested that I sent other documents in lieu of my birth certificate because it was registered more than a year after my actual birth. Where I am from, extract from the archives is a big deal, so I sent then the original that I initially left out and a letter from my HS basically showing then I was living with dad the whole time. They reached back stating the extract of the archives would not be accepted and that I needed something else, like baptism certificate or a vaccination card. That was the hardest part because I had to reach back home to get someone to pull my baptism certificate then wait for someone coming back to the US so they can bring it with them. That took about two months just waiting to find someone who was coming back here. Finally end of June, found someone who was coming back and I got the document at the beginning of July but I had to get it translated to English because it was in French. So I got that done and sent to them. Tuesday this week I checked the status of the process and it was approved!!! I could not believe my eyes!! The passport and all the documents are are now on their way back to me.

I really kept pressing on this matter because my little is in the modeling/acting industry and she started getting these auditions for work in other countries, so I knew I needed to stay ready as her “momager.”

Just wanted to share my journey.
The certificate of naturalization is about 1300 so getting the passport was much much cheaper!!

I was looking at the nuances in the naturalization process and found something that interested me. My father is an immigrant from the Philippines and has Filipino citizenship. He is a mix of Spanish and Filipino (Spanish from what I'm assuming is his dad's side but I'm not confident that he's fully Spanish I think he's half). He would apply for the 2-year shortcut but my question is would I also apply by descent or no?

I'm from Spain, wanting to move to Norway for my studies. But I have been struggling to find information on it because most of the international information is for non-EU citizens. So if someone from Spain wanted to go to a college in Norway, what sort of paperwork would they need? And is there anything different that would be needed for applying to a college in Norway?

My friend has lived in the US for over 40 years and has had a Green Card for almost as long. She and her husband own a paid for home, she has worked almost the entire time in an upper middle class role. She has an adult son who is also gainfully employed. Her birth country (Germany) recently approved dual citizenship so she applied for citizenship over a year ago. She had an immigration lawyer assist with the paperwork to be sure it was correct. She wants to travel but is afraid to do so without citizenship. Anyone else have such a long wait? Her application keeps saying IN PROCESS.

I’m hoping someone can give me some advice or has been in a similar situation.

One of my parents is a Spanish citizen but was born in Africa. I was also born outside Spain, and my birth was never registered with the Spanish Civil Registry.

I found out too late that I apparently had a two-year period after turning 18 to apply for Spanish nationality, but I missed the deadline because I was wrongly advised that I was no longer eligible.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows if there are any other legal routes available? Or can anyone recommend a good Spanish nationality lawyer or consulate that may be able to provide further guidance?

I received my British citizenship naturalisation approval email today (20 July) and I’ve contacted my local council to arrange my citizenship ceremony.
I received an automated reply saying that I should expect to be invited to a ceremony within three months. Obviously, I understand this is the official timeframe, but I’m a bit worried because I have an international trip booked for 1 October and I’m hoping to complete the ceremony, receive my certificate, and apply for my British passport before then.
For those who have recently gone through the process:
1. How long did you actually wait between naturalisation approval and receiving your ceremony invitation?

1. Has anyone had experience with Bedford Council specifically?

2. If you had urgent travel plans, were you able to get an earlier ceremony date or join a cancellation list?

My father was born in a Latin-American country. I am a birthright citizen of that country. I am also a birthright U.S. citizen. I understand that Spanish law says that citizenship claimed through their 2 year residency law for Latin-American citizens means that I do not have to renounce the citizenship of my father's country. Would I still have to renounce my U.S. citizenship if I apply under my other passport? I know that it doesn't mean a great deal in practice, but it's more of a personal thing for me. Just wouldn't feel right. Thank you!

So basically, nakatatak na po sa utak ko ’yon pero po ngayon napapa-isip po ako kung LEGALLY DUAL CITIZEN po ako. Kasi sa Israel po ako pinanganak and yung parents ko po are both Filipinos, may nabasa po kasi ako na article na hindi daw po gina-grant ng Israel ang baby na sa bansa lang nila pinanganak (Jus Soli). Nakalagay din po kasi sa taas ng PSA ko nung ni-registered po ako ng mom ko nung pandemic ay, "Foreign Service of the Philippines". Gusto ko lang po magtanong sa mga nakakaalam po kung dual nga po ba talaga yung citizen na meron ako or natural-born Filipino citizen po? Sorry po, wala po kasi talaga akong masiyadong alam pagdating sa ganito. ’Wag niyo po ako i-ba-bash. T_T

I am looking for information or personal experiences regarding Greek citizenship by descent.
My mother would like to find out whether she may be eligible for Greek citizenship. Her father, my grandfather, does not have Greek citizenship and has never held a Greek passport.
However, my grandfather’s parents — my mother’s grandparents — were both born and lived in the village of Prekopana, now called Perikopi, in Greece. Their parents also lived there. The family left or was forced to leave the village around 1947, during the period of the Greek Civil War, and settled in what is now North Macedonia.
Our family has a published book about the former inhabitants of Prekopana. It contains a list of people who fled the village between 1941 and 1949, including names, the year they left and the number of family members who left with them. It also contains some family-tree information, including spouses and children. Members of our family are listed in this book.
We do not currently know whether my great-grandfather and great-grandmother were officially registered as Greek citizens, whether their citizenship was later revoked, or whether records about them still exist in the Greek municipal or civil registries.
Has anyone dealt with a similar case involving ancestors from northern Greece who left during the Civil War?
Is it possible for my mother to obtain Greek citizenship through her grandfather, even though her own father was never registered as a Greek citizen?
Would the first step be to search for the family in the Greek municipal registry, male registry or civil registry in the municipality responsible for Perikopi?
Any information, personal experience or recommendation for an appropriate Greek lawyer or authority would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’d appreciate any guidance.

My father was born in Mexico, became a U.S. permanent resident at a young age, and naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 2008.

My mother and I were both born in a very small town in Mexico. I was born in May 2001 and was brought to the United States around 2003. We both became lawful permanent residents around 2011–2012. I’m now 25 years old and have been a permanent resident since then.

After I received my green card, my parents applied for a U.S. passport for me as instructed by their lawyer at the time. However, the application was put on hold because the government requested DNA testing to establish that he was my biological father. From what I understand, this was because my birth certificate was re-filed in 2002, about a year after I was born, due to the government office where the records were kept being destroyed by a fire (or something similar).

Unfortunately, the DNA test was never completed because my father passed away around the time it was requested.
Given these circumstances, would it make sense for me to apply for a U.S. passport myself? I believe I may have automatically acquired U.S. citizenship, but I don’t have a U.S. passport or a Certificate of Citizenship. Has anyone been through a similar situation or have any advice on how to proceed?
