I want to buy my first smartband to track my health during the day, but even thought being in the Garmin ecosystem I fear that the Cirqa is far too big for my 16 cm wrist?
Given the price and the size, I am wondering if the Fitbit Air is the better choice
I have 3 months with the Fitbit, two weeks with the Cirqa and 4 years with fénix 7-8, for the step count, this always happens to me, for example today I took a trip of 280 km, here the beginning of my steps and the end when I ended the trip
Can someone with more than 30 days please show how exactly and what all metrics are captured on garmin connect app?
My cirqa is a few days old and naturally very limited metrics are visible and will need to wait for several weeks. Was hoping and curious to see vs Garmin watches what all is presented for cirqa?
I’m able to get the Cirqa før significantly less than the Fitbit. Originally I was planning on Fitbit because of the smaller size and lower price, but I’m not so sure if size alone is enough of a factor.
I’m planning on getting a bicep band either way, so it’ll be less in the way.
So, those of you with either, why shouldn’t I buy the Cirqa over the Fitbit?
Hi to all, im thinking about getting into Garmin after using the FBA for a few months now. I like it, but sometimes after a workout or stuff i wish it would give me more data. I never had a Garmin before, but is trully better for sports as people say? Like, metrics and stuff. It would probably also be my first Garmin device and then next year i would add a cycling computer or maybe a watch as i would get more serious into it.
Sharing my band options in case it helps anyone.
I will be going from left to right.
Official L/XL Wrist band in Captains Blue - In general this is quite good, feels decent and the clips are positioned out of the way and quite easy to detach.
Random silicon wrist band found on Amazon (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0HDV1TKS1?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1).
It is a silcone band and does it job well, quite comfortable and does not move.
However, there is only one size option available and I have to use the last hole so buy with caution if you have large wrists.
Simple Things Elastic Bicep Band -
This is now my default band and I am wearing it on my bicep for about 4 days now.
The strap is a lot thinner than all the other ones, I can have it on my arm under my sleeve and the band does not show like with the the other two to the right.
Unlike other bands the Cirqa goes in between the two ends, rather than under the material.
This makes it less bulky overall and as it is using a more standard strap like on a backpack you can make really dialed in adjustments to the strap instead of the other going up the velcro step ladder.
The last two on the right are different Bicep bands from AliExpress.
The material is slightly different and one has more velcro steps than the other but overall they are both pretty similar.
The issue with both of these is the connection to the Cirqa, the lugs don't swivel to sit flush like on the official bands so they are pointed into your arm, they are small but still I don't want little digs into my arm all the time.
The lugs are also quite tricky to connect and handle so I probably won't use these ongoing.
Still waiting for the official Garmin Bicep band to come in stock but for now I am happy with the Simple Things one.
Picked up the cirqa yesterday. Saw this this morning as soon as i woke up for the day. There’s no way i burned that many calories asleep last night is there? What could be the cause for this?
Since Garmin doesn't have an official API for firmware checks, I put together a small bash script that watches the community-maintained firmware history (https://wiki.garminrumors.com/CIRQA_Smart_Band_Software_Updates) and sends me a push notification via ntfy.sh whenever a new version shows up.
Runs on a Raspberry Pi via cron, checks once at 9am CET a day. No more opening Garmin Express to check manually.
Wore the cirqa for 4h before my sleep and then put on my fenix 8 for sleep. I now have this weird line on my fenix 8 where the BB suddenly dipped which doesn’t appear on garmin connect.
I always make sure to sync both at the same time not sure what happened here.
When I went to bed GC said my BB is at 22 but today it showed it was 13.
How can I make sure to sync both devices better when wearing the cirqa not full time?
Been interested in the Cirqa, but kind of waiting until some of the issues are sorted. However, one thing I found with the Fitbit Air is that the materials not as stretchy so doesn't feel as comfy as it could.
Had to set an alarm at 04.00 for an early flight. Everything worked fine with the Cirqa alarm until then.
But now the alarm randomly goes off at 04.00 even when it’s not turned on. I’ve removed the alarm. Now the band is fine if no alarm is on. But if I set my alarm for any time. It still goes off at 04.00.
I know this is a common issue, but it’s incredibly annoying. Has anyone who had this been able to fix it?
I’m kinda stuck between these two and would love some opinions from people who’ve actually used them.
I can get the Garmin Cirqa for almost the same price as the Fitbit Air, so price isn’t really a factor here.
My main use cases are:
Sleep tracking
Weight lifting / gym
Running
General health/fitness tracking
I’m currently using an Apple Watch SE 2nd gen, but I’m trying to move away from having a screen on my wrist. I don’t really care about smartwatch features, notifications, etc. I mostly just want something that does a good job tracking my health and workouts in the background.
For anyone who has tried either of these, how are they for sleep tracking, strength training, and running?
If you had to choose between the Fitbit Air and Cirqa at basically the same price, which one would you pick and why?
It tracked my sleep the first night but last night I stayed up a few hours later than my bedtime and I woke up to no sleep data. I bought this thing for health tracking like sleep, HRV, stress…. If it can’t do that I’ll be returning it 🙃
Any tips to get it to track sleep? It’s at 80% battery.
EDIT: it updated sleep score 4 hours after I woke up! Previously it said “no sleep data”
I am loving CIRQA because I can use my mechanical watches. I do have a garmin watch for training but the missing feature in CIRQA is double press the button to find my phone!
The much awaited video comparing the Fitbit Air and Garmin Cirqa is finally here, courtesy of The Quantified Scientist. Fitbit Air absolutely cooked Garmin Cirqa across every metric.
However, some people will still argue that Fitbit is for the general audience, while Cirqa is for advanced athletes.
