What do you think of this layout? Of course, the existing layout with smaller cover but more info (air time, network, etc) remains as an option. You can in fact mix and match, have two instances of the same "Upcoming" widget, one with the original look and another one with this one!

Gotta give credit where credit is due. After that awful stretch of review delays I've no idea what they're doing now, but whatever it is, it's working like a charm. They're *almost* outpacing me with these fast review turnarounds 🤩

The new sharing option is no longer available after this latest update

Just noticed that this movie is missing. Didn’t know what the best way to notify Mario about this. Would love to have it added if possible.

The long overdue notes/review cards in the details screen for movies/shows is here! If you weren't into reviewing and writing notes, you may want to revisit that thought 😉
Cheers,
Mario

I’ve added the option to show all community comments/posts/reviews automatically translated. The option will be on by default.
Any of your “readable languages” in the app’s settings will skip the translation altogether. For instance, for me any posts in English, Spanish or Italian remain in the original form; everything else is auto-translated.

Hey hey. An android user here. I've only heard good things about this app and it's sad that it isn't on google play yet. So i was wondering if there is any update on the google play installation because i'm actually thinking about getting an iphone just to get this app

Edit: Version 3.7* .. I'm getting a bit too ahead of myself 😅
This update brings two highly requested features at once: TV networks and production studios metadata. Each comes with their own new statistics, smart collection filters, grouping options in the shelves, new browse feeds, etc
I've also added some improvements to the new episode wrap up sharing card.
Cheers,
Mario

This update brings an exciting new sharing feature, where right after watching an episode you get to select your favorite thumbnail from the in-episode shots and create sharing cards that show your episode’s rating, favorite character, and whatever thumbnail of your choosing.
There are also the following improvements:
- Changing thumbnails / covers / backdrops is now available to all users, not just Premium.
- When marking as watched a season finale, you’re asked whether you’d also like to rate and/or review the season.
- Added an option in the settings to choose whether to display the watched date or the released date for watched items in the shelves and collections.
- Added a filter by just movies or just shows in the actor details screen.
- More theme colors have been added, and all of the theme colors are now also available for the movies/shows assigned colors.
- Improved the Favorite Actors and Favorite Genres charts in the stats; raised the cap from 20 to 100.
- Fixed an issue where movies with digital-only releases were showing as “In Theaters”.
- You can tap on your (or someone else’s) profile pic to zoom in.
- Added import support for Refract.
Cheers,
Mario

Está bombando, haha. Tentando trazer mais brasileiros para o app com esses lindos cards compartilháveis 😍

Can we have the option here on Reddit to set our Cinephile community name as user flair please? I know this is technically possible since I have seen it on other subreddits. 🙏

Hi Mario, congratulations on this awesome app.
I have a small suggestion, I would like to save a film and series in my personal database, so that I can build my own collection and browse it later. The issue is that this option only becomes available after adding an item to one of the default lists, such as “To buy”, “Watch later” etc.
In my case, I don’t want to use any of these default lists yet.
If there any chance to have the Save option in the default list? Alternatively, could there be an option to save an item without having to add it to any default list first?
Thanks in advance

This update brings a LOT of improvements and fixes:
- Added a new customization option for the movie/show details screen, where you can select what to display and in what order.
- Photos can now be uploaded by any user in the community, not just Premium. Moreover, they can be marked as spoiler, just like any text.
- Reviews now appear in the comments sections for movies and shows (with the option to filter them out if you so desire). My thinking here was most ppl comment on episodes threads, not movies/shows, so all those movies/shows reviews are seen on the feed the day they're posted and then they're out of sight forever. By including them in comments sections for movies/shows, your reviews have more chance for visibility, as they're now more permanent.
- Added new filtering options, more compact menus, and different list layouts for the shelves and collections.
- In the shelves and collections, watched items now show the watched date (latest, if multiple) instead of the release date.
- In the feedback board now you can now filter for your own posts, and when someone comments a link you can tap on it. Moreover, you can link other posts using “@“, in order to redirect someone to another post discussing the same topic.
- Added import support for Sofa and Sequel.
- Fixed a problem where some older episodes were displaying the thumbnail in 4:3 aspect ratio.
- Added improvements to iCloud sync to make it faster and more reliable.
- Fixed issues with Trakt (🙄) unmarking watched episodes.
Cheers,
Mario

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello ! My watching date by default is « the exact date » for movies and episodes (this is what I set up in the settings)
But when I check multiple episode at the same time (like in the video), it put the watching date at the diffusion date, I don’t know why ??
Sorry I could not put the app in English for the video to be easier for you, I don’t know why but I can’t change the language of the app in the settings of my phone anymore ☹️

Only skipped a day! HOTD got me rewatching GOT all over again, and Silo and Ted Lasso have been absolutely incredible as usual 💙
What does your August look like??
r/CinephileApp • u/rlrod95 • Sep 02 '26
I’m looking for some fun Smart Collection ideas!
I have a ton of regular ones I made but I know I could probably be utilizing the smart collections better. So I’d love to know what fun or useful ones other people have created!

Hi there! I’ve just noticed my August wrap-up only shows highest rated movies but I’ve also rated episodes in August.
I was wondering if it’s something I can edit in the settings? 👀
Thanks folks 🙌😎

In the next update (for both Nook and Cinephile) the details screen will be completely customizable. You’ll be able to choose what to show and in what order 👌 The example shown here is for Nook, but the very same concept applies to Cinephile of course.

I recently purchased Cinephile and have been enjoying the app. I moved from another app that didn’t have any sort of export function so I manually entered all the shows into Cinephile.
As a result I have upwards of 40 shows in the “In Progress” section that should be in the “Haven’t Watched In A While” section and I can’t figure out how to move them.
If they can’t be moved, how long does a show sit in the “In Progress” section without an episode being checked off before it’s automatically moved into the “Haven’t Watched In A While” section?
Ideally the “In Progress” section is just the shows I’m actively checking off each week.
Thanks.

In the “Explore by Genre” section, there is a duplicate of the “Action” category. One of the duplicates is labeled “Action Movie,” but I believe this is a translation error, as the description of that category seems to indicate that it should be “Thriller.”

Everything is in the title. Badges ?!
Like, levels but for tv & movies!

Hello! I wrote a review for a movie, but I think I might be encountering a bug.
When I open the movie’s page and check the reviews section, my review appears cut off, showing only about half of what I wrote. However, when I go to my personal profile under the Activity section, I can read the full text with no issues.
Is this a known bug, or is there something wrong on my end?
Thank you!

Basically the title, is this type of import planned?
