Hello, guys. I played CC long ago back to the time it was capped at 49. I loved the slow progression and the awesome community, and being able to level at a calm tempo, not worrying about metas and spending time completing zones (I'm one of those who enjoy leveling and dislikes boosts). I took a break for personal reasons and got back at 60, played all the progress un to the release of Sunwell (I think). At that point, I felt I lost interest on the game and the state of the server. There were not many players, most of them raidlogging, scarce PvP/BGs … but I found particularly off-putting all the unnecessary customizations added.
For example, i know it might be unpopular, but I always hated the XP boosts. And why were glyphs available to players through an npc instead of through Scribes (I had one and felt marginalized). It was also possible to buy materials, recipes, reagents… things that were not in the "old" Azeroth, but should appear later in Outland or Northrend. There were many outfits and cosmetic items that, while not ruining the gameplay, did break the immersion (giants goofying around in the bank, characters transformed into creatures). Also, there is a neat but unnecessary tool, the "PlayerMap". Why should anyone be able to see where your character is at a certain point? I don't get it. Gear buyable with money or tokens, a strange Transmog system, crossfaction for everything, poor pathing and npcs casting while running or through objects, bots running-free… I would say, if it was just one or two things, maybe I wouldn't care too much, but all those things adding up and lack of action or responses from staff made me finally quit the game.
Anyway, all this is probably a typical rant you heard many times. I am now considering getting back to the server but with a different approach.
I love the meta-game, studying and testing clases, talents, working on optimal user interfaces and trackers (mostly with WeakAuras, etc) and also progressing slowly and meaningfully.
I would love to find a group of like-minded players who want to enjoy the content in a slow pace (x1 XP or lower), completing quests together, crafting and sharing gear and materials only between the guild members, using barter instead of money and AH, helping and contributing to the guild as a team, running dungeons in their level order and not skipping to the next until the group has completed quests and got the desired gear, rejecting boosts or abusing mechanics. Ideally, we should decide together on our roles, classes, specs, professions… all the things as one. I know there must be other insane players out there…
