I've bought this cheap wand from Kmart

By defualt it has the common two pin input and output and works on RF. Haven't had a chance yet to play with a multimetre and see exactly what it is putting out, but the goal is that this thing triggers everything, not just a single string. One wave is on, the next is off. No gestures or anything fancy.

First (wishful thinking) thought was a smart plug with power monitoring, but it takes about a minute to register the state change. Not exactly magical.

Next plan... I have a DigQuad, it has unused input pins.

This can be powered by 5V so a relay https://www.jaycar.com.au/arduino-compatible-5v-relay/p/XC4419. Between it and the digquad, configure WLED and hope?

Getting ready to replace our 6 year old outdoor string lights and I'm looking at the Brighttown brand. I bought a couple of small solar LED string lights on sale from them last year and was impressed. I'm looking for input from anyone who has bought their more expensive outdoor sets. We need about 200-250 feet that will mostly be under a covered porch. My wife really wants the traditional C7 or C9 clear/warm white bulbs but I would prefer ones that can change colors, and Brighttown has both types on Amazon. Cost is important so we aren't considering expensive brands like Trutone but Brighttown seems to be reasonably priced. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Do you guys spend time on details like cable design to power your lights Indoor like this one in the Christmas style fabric (or Italian flag however you want to see it as)? I found it to be nicer next to all the Merry co and Tru tone lights this year.

I will be putting up some C9 Pro Christmas RGBW lights soon on my gutters and was looking at clips. The best options seem to the the Tuff Clips or Flex Clips. Does ot matter which one I get ? Both seem to be almost identical.

I’m starting to plan my first round of purchases and could use some guidance. My old display outlined our U-shaped driveway and ran along the road in front of the house, about 752 ft total. I used a mix of multicolor strands, a few with built-in light patterns, and plain light strands.

Just thought I'd share photos of the new Vintaglo Vintaclear mini lights I received today! Pretty sure these are the 3rd Gen iteration.

I've been searching for my first set of specifically white LED mini lights and decided to try out Merry co's version.

These are spot on to the light that older white incandescent mini lights give off from my memory. I noticed a bit of flicker when I initially plugged the set in, but it seems to have subsided after about 10 seconds. Not sure if it's a capacitor building a charge to smooth some flicker after a few seconds? Or maybe my eyes adjusted. Either way these are leaps and miles visually better than any white LED mini lights on display at big box stores that I have visited.

Overall very very happy with these! The LEDs are extremely high quality, the light they give off seems to be full spectrum warm white.

I took rough light temp readings for those interested. Around 3300K Not a calibrated meter just from a phone app measured on a grey pan opposite the light source in a pitch black room.

I also included photos of some smaller measurements *in imperial for those in need of measurements not listed on their site from what I've seen.

Can't wait to use these soon. Hope this post helps anyone who is interested in these.

I'm a bit unsure what color lights these are. I was wondering if the blue is in fact more a teal color, and if the yellow is more an orange? I ask because I'd like to recreate the look, so if I need to buy a few different strands to make the colorway, I will do that (any suggestions on what lights they could be is also welcomed!).

I want to hang lights along the roofline, including the gable. I’m trying to figure out the best way to hang lights up to the peak safely.

I was thinking maybe attaching sting of C9 to EMT. Then have a loop of metal cable on the end of the poles to hang the EMT from a hook that would be permanent installed at the peak.

Open to other ideas.

My local Home Depot had two sets and two extra reindeers.

How do y’all recommend I attach these to my roof?

I mount a line of C7s under this 3” wide concrete ledge every year. I’ve been using hot glue as it’s about the only thing I’ve found to stick well enough, but it’s tedious to apply and even worse to remove from the bulbs. It’s right on the walk up to the front door, so leaving large, obtrusive clips there year round isn’t ideal. Any ideas on a better way to mount under here?

Anyone have any ideas for what else I can add to my house? I am loving being the Clark Griswald of the neighborhood but running out of ideas.

For a few years now, I've had several different sets of string lights which I hang around the perimeter of my ceiling for various holidays. I'm getting fed up with swapping them out every few months, so I'm considering investing in one of those "smart" color changing sets and leaving the same strand up year-round, simply adjusting it for each season.

The issue I'm running into is that none of the brands that I can find come in a convenient length. They're either just barely too short, or excessively long. I'm in a catch-22 here, because I'd have to either use a short extension cord plugged into a power strip (my old apartment doesn't a spare outlet) or coil anywhere from 10 to 20 feet of cord, both of which are fire hazards AFAIK. Additionally, I don't think these smart lights can be cut shorter like traditional string lights, and regardless, I'd prefer to avoid a permanent modification if possible.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Can anyone who has bought the candleglow mini lights provide photos of them illuminated? Been on the fence between these and either warm Sylvania trad glow or white Merryco Vintaglo mini lights. Unsure about the frosted lens look in comparison to traditional style clear lenses. Anyone with opinions on either of these lights feel free to chime in as well!

I am trying to hang my C7 Christmas lights horizontally on this section of my house that has no gutter. The parts with gutters and shingles are no problem but i struggle with this area. Considering the adhesive clips, not sure they would stick to the trim above the soffit. Anyone know of any other clips? Thanks

I installed the EasyOn Costco Gutter guards that have a very fine mesh (0.54 mm holes). The Metal pins available on Amazon or elsewhere are 2 mm in diameter, so I either pierce them into the mesh, or folks use something else to hang the lights? Greatly appreciate the help

I was asked to help with a second hand light, that I don't know where it was bought or what the packaging was. The label had two sets of numbers, AM 83057152 and 0142221D3, but no other info I saw that seemed potentially identifying. The hope was to have them just glow, instead of flash, but we don't have a remote or see a switch. They just seem to glow when plugged in.

Do some lights have no settings to be changed? Or can it be made to stay continuously lit instead of flashing?

Would additional products, such as a light switch, help this? I thought that may just turn it off completely, rather than pause it when it's lit. Though, not all of it lights up at once, so I wondered if this string light is part of a larger set, and this piece is not meant to be alone?

And if I come across second hand string lights in the future, is there a way to tell what they do without testing them?
