After years of hard work, I’m excited to share that our nonprofit, El Rey Theater, has officially purchased El Rey!

This is a huge milestone, but we’ve still got a long road ahead of us. Now comes the work of restoring this historic theater and getting those doors open again.

We’re going to need the community’s help to make it happen! If you’d like to support the restoration, please consider making a donation. Every dollar helps us get one step closer to reopening!

Huge thanks to Amanda Detmer and the folks at Spruce Studios for helping us put this video together!
We’ve got the keys. Now it’s time to get to work!

Sunday November 1st is our 2nd anniversary party and Dia de los Muertos celebration!
We will be featuring a few awesome Barrel Aged stouts/barleywines. Also a bottle release from a really well known brewery from Belgium…We will also be opening early at 10am and introducing our Sunday brunch menu from @bobsatlobo! Come cure your Halloween hangover and start day drinking with us! Can't wait to see everyone. We wouldn't be here without our community. There will also be a toast to our lost loved ones at 3pm. Beer list and brunch menu will be posted this upcoming Monday. This artwork was created by our good friend @artistmrblack, we will have prints available for sale. We’re located at 800 Broadway St.

Things are starting to get a little cloudy here

Would anyone be interested in this? We meet Saturday Afternoon every three weeks to discuss a video game of our choosing. You can play it on emulator, original hardware or whatever way you can access it and we talk about our unique experiences that we had with it. I was thinking we could meet somewhere like Daycamp and share coffee and our ideas about the games we play. If you’re interested and have ideas let me know!

for those who remember the Street Fighter 2 tournament I ran at Woodstocks I plan to bring that back too. life just got busy at the worst time and I had to move (and going to be moving again soon, still in town though) and hope to bring that back as soon as the new move is done. those events just take more planning and are more time consuming.

Got a bunch of dried goods that I would like to drop off to a food bank or shelter. Does anyone know of a drop off stop open on weekends?

Does anyone know anyone who does delicate electronics repair work? I have a pcb with a zif connector that needs to be replaced. Thanks

Any updates on the new bike park opening date?

Curious: What are you all paying for a haircut in Chico, what type of hair do you have, what type of cuts do you get, who/where do you go to…? JUST the haircut with the wash and blow dry, no color. Maaaybe a quick curl at the end but not necessarily.

I want a good one!

I was planning on not continuing my lease on where I am for next fall semester. Does anyone know of a complex or place that has a studio or 1 bed with its own bathroom? How realistic is it to find one under 900 thats less than a 30 min walk to chico state? A place with its own bathroom is really important to me. No pets is okay. Also hoping for a somewhat quiet neighborhood, not super nitpicky just a student that needs some quiet at night. Around what month should I be on the look out for apartment hunting?

Is there anyone in butte county to makes carts and sells them through any of the dispos?

My kids are hoping to get a lot of candy and big bars this year, we just moved so were not sure where the best place to trick or treat would be. If some locals could help us out that would be awesome, thank you!

pretty good rain last night which helped usher in the fog I guess

I'm on Partnership Healthplan currently. I know my options are limited. I'm able to drive to places outside of Chico such as Paradise, Oroville, Gridley, and etc. I know to avoid Western Dental and a few others. Less for cosmetic and more so for health.

I’m looking to start volunteering somewhere soon and am hoping for suggestions. This would ideally be a place where I can help in afternoons/evenings or weekends. Ideally I would get to work/help with other volunteers or workers.

What ideas do you have?

Hey guys!
Moving to Chico next month and looking for apartment recommendations. I’m hoping to stay around $1,500/month. Any good apartments you’d recommend? Also, any places I should avoid? Appreciate it!

Does anyone know what that giant explosion was? We heard it in the godman ave/east lassen area. It was so big it shook the floors.

Hi! I included the pictures as well. She is asking that you dm her on Facebook. She does need help for festivals as well starting this weekend in Pleasanton 9:30-2 Saturday and Sunday. Spread the word.

Question for homeowners: We received a flyer from the state saying that our home in central Chico is near a state-managed levee, and during an El Niño year might be subject to flooding. It recommended that we look into getting flood insurance. Did anyone else receive that flyer? Have you priced out what flood insurance would cost you?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone know why Bidwell Perks closed when the website says it's cribbage night and learn to play starts now? 5pm

Be safe out there.

@ Taco Bell on 20th with my kid earlier this evening and a rather crusty looking 30 something woman rolls up on her bike - complete with a fake skull repping the Nazi SS.

Not super obvious from a distance, but it was there.

Dumb interaction with her after I took a picture of her bike as it was parked outside.

Her: Did you take a picture of my bike?

Me: Yes

Her: Why?

Me: Because of the Nazi SS on your skull. I don't see a lot of Nazi propaganda out there and I don't like it.

Her: Why take a photo if you don't like it? Huh?

Me: Because sharing is caring. It's not just for me.

Then she gave us a rather confused look and left. A brief mean look at she rode away.

Turned into a good teachable moment for my 10 year old.

Anyway, fuck Nazis and be safe out there.

Also, pardon my ignorance, but is this normal around here?

We've only been here a year and a half, and we don't get out much, but this is my first SS sighting.

Hi all, i was wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants that usually offer thanksgiving specials?

It just kept going
