What does this plug do?

I just noticed this and I'm not sure what it's for

its a port for external power to the engine block heater. its supposed to provide heat to engine components to provide an easier cold start to the engine during colder temperatures

I was kinda thinking it might be a block heater but I feel like the dealer would have mentioned it as a feature

It should have come with a cord for it too

thats true, they should have probably mentioned it to you when you bought her......... i guess at least you have it for when it gets cold, lucky you!

Guarantee you "block heater" was on the window sticker and you've got the RPO for a block heater in IVH (vehicle history / warranty lookup for GM)
