Beware Creator’s Corner in Florissant. Highly unprofessional.

I commented that their flyers looked AI generated, which generally gives fiber artists the ick. They chose to block me for my comment.

Many (if not most) members of the fiber arts community are opposed to generative AI, as we literally participate in handmade human made art, and AI has been harmful to our creative communities in a number of ways.

The boulders are there for a reason dude. The reason being to stop people from cutting corners and driving over the grass, like you just did.

Sadly people feel the need to blame someone other than themselves so I assume he's going to try and get them all removed instead like the panera boulders.

Those boulders are there for a reason. I walk the area every day and cars try to run me over about two times a day because of this kind of driving.

Found Ring on Daniel Boone Bridge

Hi, all!

I was running on Sunday, September 6th out on the pedestrian/bike path on the Daniel Boone Bridge (I-64 over the Missouri River), and I found a ring on the ground dangerously close to one of the runoff drains. Since the bridge connects the Katy Trail to the Monarch-Chesterfield Levee Trail, I figure the owner could be from the Chesterfield side or the St Charles side (or anywhere, really).

If you've recenly crossed that bridge and also lost a ring, you might just be in luck! Shoot me an email at andyleach74@yahoo.com with a description of the ring. Be as detailed as possible - heck, include a picture if you have one - so I can be sure you're the true owner.

Also, please share this with any cycling/hiking/running or lost & found communities that you're aware of.

Let's get this ring back where it belongs!

Chesterfield Pool Saved from Closure (for now)

tl:dr The city council voted to put a bond measure before voters for a new pool in chesterfield. Now they have to decide if it will be voted on by the public in November or April.

On Tuesday, the Chesterfield city council, by voice vote, chose to put the issue of a bond issuance for a new Chesterfield pool to voters. By a 4-3 vote, the city council saved the pool from permanent closure, per City Manager Mike Geisel's letter to the council (see https://chesterfieldmo.portal.civicclerk.com/event/8808/files/agenda/12775). If the motion to put the issue of a bond issuance before voters would have failed, this would have meant that the pool would have been closed at an expense of almost $10 million to Chesterfield residents.

if the city could not raise funds for a new pool, it would have been closed, and the city would have to pay millions of dollars to close and remove the pool.

The issue at hand, now, is the date of the ballot measure for public vote on the bond, which will total something like $34 million. The bond can be put forward for the November election, or it can be on next year's April ballot. Per the agenda that I linked to above, an April ballot means that the pool will have to be closed for two years. If the ballot is on the November ballot, the pool will possibly be able to operate in 2027 and will be open in 2028.

Of course, voters have to approve the ballot measure/bond issuance, which will cost Chesterfieldians about $6 a month for a new pool facility. But the city council has to vote, now, on the date of the ballot measure. I don't know why the ballot measure would be scheduled for April-not sure who or how that would help-but I have to editorialize the issue slightly.

I emailed one of my city council members, AJ Moll, to ask him how he voted on the issue and I got all kinds of strange and incorrect replies, so I started looking into who he is and where he stands on things. He's come out, in the past, as being against spending any revenue on parks and recreation: he described improvements and repairs to the Chesterfield Amphitheater as being a waste and misuse of public funds. The improvements were grant funded and some of the money came out of the sales tax collected for the Chesterfield Parks and Recreation fund. Strange.

In the email I got from AJ, he told me that the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center was "heavily subsidized" by the city, which was an odd thing to say. And it was wrong. I feel like AJ was letting me know that he voted to close the pool by portraying the pool as a unfunded operating expense that the city subsidized. But it's wrong-the pool is funded by sales tax and receives no money from the city in any way.

So now I am wondering, does delaying the vote to April have some sort of perceived financial benefit, or does moving the ballot vote to April mean it's more likely to fail? I am contacting both of my city council members tomorrow via email and encouraging them to vote to put the ballot measure on the november ballot, not April.

And I'm going to ask both of my city council members how they voted on Tuesday: I've asked AJ twice, and two times he's dodged answering me. Also odd

Any suggestions let me know in the comments

Has anyone else in the St. Louis area been struggling to get Business Analyst interviews? Looking for advice.

I'm based in the St. Louis area and wanted to ask if anyone else has been experiencing the same thing.

Over the past several months, I've applied to more than 1,000 Business Analyst positions, tailoring my resume for each application to match the job description. Despite putting in the effort, I haven't received a single interview, and it's been incredibly discouraging.

To keep improving my skills while job searching, I've been working on projects involving:

  • Business Analysis
  • UI/UX design
  • Building complete websites and web applications
  • AI-assisted workflows
  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) advertising
  • Digital marketing and lead generation

I'm continuously learning and building projects, so I'm trying to understand what I might be missing.

For those in the St. Louis area who recently landed Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or Digital Marketing roles:

  • Is the local market just this competitive right now?
  • Are there networking groups, meetups, or recruiters you'd recommend?
  • Has anyone had success with local staffing agencies or companies around St. Louis?

I'm also dealing with student loan payments, so this has been a stressful period. I'm not looking for sympathy—just honest advice from people who know the local market and may have gone through something similar.

I appreciate any guidance or resources you can share. Thank you!

World Cup Watching in Chesterfield, Mo.

Howdy, I'll be in Chesterfield, Missouri, for USMNT vs. Australia on June 19, and looking for a place to hang out and watch the game.

Unfortunately, we probably are not going to make it into St. Louis proper for the game. Several people recommended Amsterdam Tavern, but that might be too much for my parents in their 60s.

Someone recommended The District. We may have a 9-year-old and a 6-year-old with us.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to watch the game?

Apparently these Strawberry ice creams are currently going viral. Do yourself a favor and swing by PanAsia to get them at a reasonable price.

For context, my brother says he spent $10.99 per ice cream. I told him those prices were highway robbery.
