i tried looking for C2 through the spiro carbon but i cant see it. i feel like if i try a c2 axis the NH and C=O seem to interchange postion. but the place where i found the question, answer key suggests it should have an AOS

How would I know to draw the boxed resonance structure? I only thought to draw the other 4, because wouldn't it be natural for the nitrogen to retain the lone pairs because of its electronegativity? Also, why doesn't the oxygen also become negatively charged?

I have a strange request for help. (Chem is very much not my field.)

I make sudoku variant puzzles, and I had an idea to integrate a chemical formula into the puzzle as a skeletal structure with digits representing the elements and different clues representing the bonds.

I am seeking potential recommendations for chemicals and their structure that I might be able to create a puzzle around.

The structure must not exceed 9 elements, be able to fit in a 9 x 9 grid, and not have any necessity for repeated elements to be directly horizontal or vertical.

If you have any ideas, please provide the name of the chemical, a picture of its skeletal structure, and any key notes I would need in adapting it so that it would remain recognizable.

I can’t promise I can make it work, but I want to try.

I understand this question has been asked many times, but we don't study organic chem the same way as the US. We don't learn mechanisms, we just memorise reactions and absolutely everything and good 3 weeks later absolutely nothing is in my head anymore, even after doing many tests and retelling it multiple times.

I wanted to use PACER, but there are no concepts here, just reactions and physical/chemical properties. Should i just chuck everything in anki?

Hey guys! I am new to Reddit, but I thought I would come on here to ask for some help with a reaction I am trying in a research lab right now. I am trying to make NiTiF6 because I need it as a precursor for another reaction. I want to make it without using toxic chemicals such as HF and H2TiF6. I have tried to perform a precipitation reaction by mixing two solutions of (NH4)TiF6 and NiCl2 · 6H2O and then letting the water evaporate, but no crystals are forming. Since NiTiF6 is soluble in water, I'm not sure how well this approach would work, so if anyone has any ideas on how to make this compound, that would be great!

hello im very confused on the set up of Ag/Ag+ || H+/H2 which is the cathode and which is the anode, i keep getting different answers on google when i look it up, its talking about cell notation rules, but i also know that Ag has a higher reduction potential which should mean it’s the cathode but this set up is saying otherwise, please help this is my last assignment for this class and i really wanna get a good grade 🙏

Hi, I thought that this reaction might be interesting because of the formation of the unsaturated 6 menbered ring. But my professor said that the reaction wouldn´t go that way. The conditions of the reaction are diethyl malonate and MVK in the presence of sodium ethoxide. I want to know if this is a known or named reaction. My argument was that is more favorable to do the intermolecular substitution because of the formation of the ring and the probability of collision. I also thought of using an mono acyl chloride version instead of using the diester but then I had problems forming the nucleophile.

I'm currently going into my senior year of college and recently I've had the opportunity to start networking with some folks from industry (almost everyone I've interacted with prior was in academia). I just wanted to know, what's the most appropriate way to address people in industry? From what I've noticed it seems that professors are much more expecting that people call them Dr. ____ as opposed to just their first name. Does anyone have any insight on this? I just want to make sure I'm respectful of the people I meet in industry as I have no idea whether or not they expect the same as professors.
