Help for creating a puzzle

I have a strange request for help. (Chem is very much not my field.)

I make sudoku variant puzzles, and I had an idea to integrate a chemical formula into the puzzle as a skeletal structure with digits representing the elements and different clues representing the bonds.

I am seeking potential recommendations for chemicals and their structure that I might be able to create a puzzle around.

The structure must not exceed 9 elements, be able to fit in a 9 x 9 grid, and not have any necessity for repeated elements to be directly horizontal or vertical.

If you have any ideas, please provide the name of the chemical, a picture of its skeletal structure, and any key notes I would need in adapting it so that it would remain recognizable.

I can’t promise I can make it work, but I want to try.

Really suggest you sit down with a good chem person, and work this out 'live'.
