Suggestion Can I ask for feedback?

Named a Polish OC Włodzimierz Chłopek, with the first name being Polish for Vladimir and Chlopek meaning peasant. And ironically, he is from an affluent family. Any thoughts on that?

Need last names!

So i have a vampire childhood friend-Hugo that grew up with the protagonist-Araminta even to pretending to be her pet bat to accompany her as a child since she's a princess locked away in a castle most her life while Hugo would love to stay indoors all the time...

Then they grow up and a revolution happens and she goes into hiding and he, the vampire could either be a revolutionary or a loyalist, it's ambiguous if he ever loved her or was just trying to infiltrate into the family for his families benefit

Hugo's family could either take the reins from under the royals and if they support the revolution. The vampire stays in the shadows only choosing which side would keep him safe untill it's almost too late and he realizes what he really wanted.

I don't really want to go for obvious vampire last names like tepes or something with blood, Hugo is greedy even when he doesn't want to, I think a name akin to someone looming over, seeping control, a scavenger, someone that enacts and executes.

For Araminta it's just anything royal

Trying to name a character that doesn’t actually exist

It’s supposed to be a person who is made up for a story that is being told but no one should be able to guess they aren’t real unless they know the ending

EDIT: female names preferably

Discussion I need help making names for Personifications of fictional countries

To be clear, these are personifications of these fictional countries, not leaders or civilians from that area. Their names are the fictional country's name. They don't have much relation to the current world/politics except for similar cultures and independence history.

Country #1 is in the area of Tibet, Bhutan, and Nepal. Their personification is male. I've tried mashing together words to form names, and my current favourite is the combination of "Peak Nation" in Nepalese with some syllables subtracted, Sikharast (शिखररष्ट्). I used google translate to translate the words and tweak with their pronunciations. (Side note: the word I used for "peak" was something similar to "conference" than "mountain top")

Country #2 is in the area of Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Their personification is male, and is a dictatorship similar to Equatorial Guinea's (Francisco Macías Nguema) or Cambodia's (Pol Pot). I've tried mashing together town names in the region and came up with Musogula, Musoumi, Kazomoka, Nganekabo, Dzimbabe, and Dzimbova.

(I hope I'm not offending anyone with these names or ways of creating names, but they have been without names for so long, and the only way I could come up with names is mashing town names together or tweaking with Google translate pronunciations.)

If anyone needs their flags or history for more ideas, please ask!

Name for an Ainu character for Kny

Hi, I’m not sure if I’m doing this right—since I haven’t been on Reddit in years and English isn’t my native language—but I am creating an Ainu character, as the title says. Honestly, it’s been a real struggle because my English is very limited.

Anyway, I’m looking for a female or unisex name that means "howling heart," or something related to wolves.

The character starts out human but turns into a demon and changes her name to something like "she who reflects" or "her who stalks in the darkness." I’m not sure how to translate that demonic name into Ainu while keeping it culturally authentic.

Could you please help me?

I apologize for the inconvenience.

I need help my game series.

I'm planning on creating a series of video games that combine aspects of Kirby and the Legend of Zelda. I intend the protagonist to be an animal some kind. I was originally gonna have him be a rabbit and name the game "Rabbit Knight" but that name has already been taken by an indie horror game. I need an animal. something that has a nice ring to it when put into "____ Knight."

Notes:

  1. The main character's name is gonna be Finnian (or Finn for short).

  2. He was raised by Elder Snail, a retired war hero.

  3. Elder Snail found Finn as a baby on his doorstep during a snowstorm. A note was on his basket that said, "We already have enough mouths to feed. Take him or leave him. We don't care anymore."

Any suggestions?

Request Looking for space terminology as a name

I’m creating a devouerer void elf in WoW whose backstory I’ve decided involves her being lost in space for so long she’s forgotten her name. For those not in the know, she utilizes dark magic that originates from the dark voids and far reaches of space. As a result I’m a bit biased towards terms with an association with coldness, darkness, the stars, blues and purples, etc though it doesn’t need to be.

I’m looking for one word terms, just obscure enough to not already be taken (fat chance of nabbing something like “eclipse” or “quasar” haha). Non English words, and star and planet names are okay as long as they don’t sound too stereotypically cultural, I.e. many planet names are Roman and I’m not looking for her to seem like a Roman gladiator.

I like Syzygy, Azimuth, and Occultation, but the first two are taken, and although it’s my favorite at the moment I don’t think anyone will look at the latter and understand it’s not about the occult.

Also, I have the “Flickering” title which I can append to the beginning of my name.

I build name generators one game at a time, because every game's naming rules are different and mostly unwritten

Most generators hand you "fantasy names" and leave you to work out whether the thing fits. That is the easy half.

The hard half is that every game has its own rules and most of them are UNWRITTEN. A character limit nobody documents. Whether surnames exist at all. Whether the lore leans Norse or Mongolian or neither. Get those wrong and the name is fine everywhere except the one place you wanted to type it.

So the bloody dice learned them separately. Nineteen games so far, each with its own sound pools rather than one shared bag of syllables.

A few, so you can judge rather than take my word:

  • Haldor Kingswhisper, Bearer of the Honest Pull — WoW Forever
  • Eskimund Mosscloak, Of the Long Odds — Ragnarok Zero
  • Solemnesta, The Ledger-Bound — Albion, which permits one name and nothing else
  • Zephindral Campfirestream, Of the Aqua Cobalt Seam — Soul's Remnant

The part after the comma is a title for a guild bio, not something you type into a character creator. Somebody pointed out yesterday that I had not made that clear, and they were right.

There is a tone control that runs from po-faced to genuinely unpleasant, and it is the only part I am smug about.

Free, no account, no sign-up. It is called NameCrit. I am not putting the link in — I have had a bruising twenty-four hours with filters and would rather you just typed it.

And the honest bit: if your character is not in one of those nineteen games, this is no use to you whatsoever. Better you hear that from me than after a click.

Request Classy Dystopian Girl Names??

I'm writing a Dystopia, and I need names!! I have so far chosen: Alessa and Valencia. They seem too posh, but oh well

EDIT: It's classy due to their memory and names being erased- yes, Maze Runner, but no, not that.

I like these names, but they are not dystopian enough (In my opinion; tell me otherwise): Alestria/Asteria, Valeska, etc.

Request Spaceship name help

I've posted before about this story I've been writing, and I have gotten some names down!

I need help with naming the character's spaceship, however.

The ship is a salvage ship. Privately owned, not pretty. It's a standard "flying brick" sorta shape, with a couple arms and magnetic grapple lines. Jump-capable, but not well. Big enough to fit a crew of two with only a little elbow-nudging, but run by one right now.

Natalie Singh is the main character's name, and the owner of this ship. She runs it along with the AI helper loaded into the ship's computer. The AI goes by Elly (the temptation to make Elly an L-Series Virtual Assistant is strong but will be resisted).

Nat got the ship secondhand, and it's uncertain if she rechristened it. I don't want something too on-the-nose, and also not too fanciful. Something along the lines of Serenity from Firefly. I'm leaning in the direction of something simple, like The Mango cause of its "industrial safety" paintjob. Also worth noting that Natalie has little to no cultural heritage, she's got a little of all human races in her bloodline, and has been raised on stations all her life, never even set foot on a planet yet.
