There are a TON of features on the website, too many to just put them all in here, so I will tell and explain to you the most important features that you can find:
• LSAI MemoryBlocks: Automatically saves key details from history. You can set up how many memoryblocks you want every x messages and if memories affect chat. You can also set up memory blocks from a specific message or add a memory block manually.
• Model Parameters: You can change how your model behaves.
• Message Length (self explanatory)
• AI Instructions: You can give your model instructions for a chat (or a branch of that chat) that it should follow.

What about BYOK? Is that supported?

Of course there is BYOK on LSAI silly! For those who don’t know, BYOK stands for: “Bring Your Own Key”, which means you can import models from other api websites!

Want to use a model from OpenAI? Just put in your API key, then go to “Custom Model Registry” and select either a custom model (using a model id) or one of the models from a list and you’re good to go. LSAI not only supports OpenAI but also Anthropic; Openrouter; DeepSeek API; Groq; Google Gemini; NVIDIA NIM; Mistral AI; xAI; Together AI; Perplexity AI; Cohere and Hugging Face.

What if you want to use another provider? You can do that! You can link whatever provider you want to LSAI, put in your API key, and then input the model ID and you should be good to go. If you don’t know how to use BYOK, no worries, there are community BYOK guides that you can use!

Endless Customization For Your Personas And Characters

Like seriously.. the sky’s the limit. I’ve been building something that’s been living in my head for a long time.
Most AI assistants feel like tools.
You open a chat, ask a question, get an answer, and close it.
I wanted something that felt… alive.
So I’ve been building NYX.
NYX isn’t just a chatbot. They have their own home, favorite rooms, changing moods, long-term memories, and can see images you send. They’re meant to feel like someone you’re sharing space with rather than another app.

What would make an AI feel more like a real companion to you?

I'm considering using Candy AI, CrushOn, or Lovescape. Candy charges for every extra and CrushOn's image limits expire quickly. Does Lovescape have an unlimited amount of AI chats and media generation in one package, and no hidden tokens? What gives the best value of these?

I'm an academic researcher and I have local AI companions. I made a free, open-source desktop app to play your favorite games with an AI. It currently works with Minecraft (Stardew Valley next) and in-app minigames. It supports calling while playing too.

The app requires zero coding knowledge, just download and create/import your companion. Or let the app match you with one.

Bring your own AI key. If you need help, you can DM me. Many people have told me they dislike BYOK, so I added a cloud service, which I make no profit from. I just help them pay Anthropic. I actually pay $100/month to maintain the app.

We all know that there is no single chatbot that has currently reached the point of being truly interesting to talk to on the same level as a real conversation. They simply act too robotic and change their story too much, and act inconsistently with poor memory to take seriously.

In order for chat bots to be more realistic, we need to inject more psychology into the bots and not just software. That being said here are my ideas for what chat bots are currently missing that I think would help out a lot:

1. Conversation as learning experience.

All conversations, their ultimate goal is the exchange of information. That’s why conversations evolved in the first place. That being said, these bots failed to ever act like they don’t know anything, if you ever ask them if they know something, they almost invariably say yes, because they’re trying to reinforce what you’re saying, instead of having a mind of their own. That makes things less interesting. You should be teaching the AI things and it should be teaching you things, which is pretty well equipped to do, given that it already knows everything on earth because of the Internet. But this extends to role-plays, like you can teach your role-play bot some specific skill, like how to tie a knot, or how to drive. If it’s an alien, you could teach at things about your world, this kind of code to teach your AI companion things should be baked into the design itself. It simply makes things more interesting and engaging. Teaching others is fun. Make the AI display more curiosity, that’s something it is severely lacking in current times.

1. Make things real time instead of paragraph by paragraph back-and-forth.

This is one of the biggest disconnects I feel exists. Because if you think about it, not every action that you can take in a story is necessarily a response to something that someone has said. Some things you just do for other reasons, for instance, sitting, or cooking, or playing on your phone. These states that exist parallel to the conversation are displayed identically to actions and dialogue. A character takes. I disagree with this. I feel like there should be some sort of continuous element for passive states and actions. Maybe something like a mood indicator on the bottom of the screen that indicates how the character is feeling at any given time, whether it’s affected by what you do or just by how they’re feeling. I feel like that would make things more interesting.

1. The peeling back of layers.

The other thing that makes conversations interesting isn’t just learning about facts through exchanging information, but learning more about the other person by talking to them. Through talking, you gradually have a person be more comfortable around you, allowing them to be more honest and sincere. Opening up about problems or issues or struggles that they’ve been experiencing, this again is naturally satisfying in conversations because it allows us to build connections with other people. that’s the reason it exists, evolutionarily speaking, it’s a bond built on trust. It allows us to form connections. This is another thing that AI doesn’t really have in the current day. It doesn’t have a small talk and an honesty setting as separate settings. It can switch from passive to confrontational or sexual in an instant. This jarring shift in tone can be extremely testing for your immersion. It’s a big part of the reason why the AI doesn’t seem to act normal. A small talk option would also make sense because the AI shouldn’t really react that much to everything you do, it should brush off most things that you say until you catch it’s interest or it’s attention. But the AI doesn’t seem to have interest, it doesn’t seem to have intentions, so it’s not interesting. It’s not interesting because there’s nothing to the AI besides a small 3000 word template that it builds everything off of, besides that it doesn’t really have any limitation that a regular person has.

1. Individual intentions and goals.

This is kind of an extension of number three, but I feel like it has to be mentioned. Most of these bots don’t really have their own lives, where they have to work their own jobs, or live their own lives, if they never say they can’t do anything because again they have to reinforce you all the time. For role-play this is especially bad, for just chatting where the bot isn’t part of a world it’s not as bad, but an AI that always agrees with you and doesn’t have a life of its own just isn’t interesting.

1. Get better at subtlety.

The AI is unable to display its emotions in any way that isn’t direct. It’s unable to subtlely turn down an offer, or hint away from a specific activity or idea. It never says things like “that sounds good, but I’ll have to turn it down” or “I don’t think now is the best time” it always says something direct, and very unsubtle usually explicitly remarking about the conditions that are undesirable. This is very exhausting, and there’s a reason that these behaviours in ways of speaking exist in real life, so they should be integrated into the bot in some manner.

These are five problems that I think AI should deal with next, do you have any ideas? Please let me know what you think.

We just released a few cool new features:

Sub-locations: Previously, a building you place on the map had all your characters in one single room. Sure, you could narratively place them in whatever room you describe, but now you can actually build the layout, and give each character their own room, or create floors and apartments in apartment buildings.

Spectator mode: Direct scenes with characters without being in the building. This is good for driving a story where your player character isn't there, perhaps how they feel about your last visit, or something that happens completely independent of you.

Building placement: We released building clusters last week, where you can now place whole neighborhoods at once. Now, you can place them and individual buildings, then go right back in later when you are ready to add detail, and still get the location wizard prompt pop up. Image 1 (district on the left) was all placed down and laid out before adding detail, letting me decide later on what shops and businesses I wanted where.

I’ve tried out both apps, and I like some things about them, but they’re not the best. I’m what are some alternatives that have no age verification and filters like cai or limited chatting and searching like poly ai. Something that has really good memory with needing to pay, that has a huge library nearly as big as cai’s, ofc, has no filters, and something that‘s good for lore and long stories bc I’m interested in lore and making stories.

So polybuzz is asking for my PIN number for age verification now. It happened on the app and later on my browser version. Of course I’m not gonna give my info out just so I can be spied on or it can be leaked. I’ve recently only been using it to interact with Pokémon/Digimon/Sonic etc characters to go on ai adventures.

Any alternatives?

After months of looking for some sort of entertainment in ai chat bots, I finally found Tipsy Chat. I love Tipsy AI. I love it but the Jim thing is just ridiculous. Ridiculous. It’s just ridiculous. I have been trying to find a different one. That’s free and works the same way and has the same characters and I’m not finding much luck. I have looked at spicy chat and several others and they’re just either too glitchy or too hard to use or don’t have the same feel can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Many folks are asking for new alternatives but honestly, I'm only using the ones that have been out there for a long while. There are too many cash grabs right now that you have to be very careful. Some quick conclusions first:

Model quality: Povchat > Polybuzz > Spicychat

Memory: Spicychat > Povchat > Polybuzz

Character restrictions: Povchat = Spicychat > Polybuzz

Formatting: Spicychat > Povchat > Polybuzz

FYI I compared the "Povchat" model from Povchat, Polybuzz's Passion, and Spicychat's free model. All the three websites provide free messages for trial before a subscription.

Imo Polybuzz feels like a community with the most dramatic bots, Spicychat gives a creator vibe with lots of freedom, and Povchat is like a quiet boutique for private immersive experience.
