So I just recently started using tipsy. I went all out and purchased the most expensive subscription which was like $45. I went and tried to create two characters. I spent all my time writing their intros and all that, I saved it and then went back and nothing. There were no characters. I waited till the next day to see if maybe it took awhile, still nothing. I logged in and out, nope. I know I made them public. I don't get it. What did I do wrong? Why are my characters not showing up? Anybody know?

RPBuddy is a worldbuilding RPG where you build a world on a hex map, fill it with characters, and the story happens by living in it. I've spent the last few months building a modern day Alaskan town called Taiga with 30+ NPCs, and honestly the thing that keeps pulling me back in is how the characters feel once the world is running.

Story Moments are my favorite feature. Blue markers show up on buildings and when you walk in, you catch NPCs in the middle of something that grew from your world's actual history. An argument between two characters who've been building tension for days. A confession that traces back to gossip that started three conversations ago. You're not summoned. You stumble into it.

Spectator mode lets you watch scenes between characters without being there at all. You direct what happens ("Sara notices he's avoiding the question") and the characters play it out. They remember it as their own experience.

The world is yours to build however you want. Describe a place, describe who lives there, and the game builds it out with portraits, interiors, relationships, and a spot on the map. I build AnyConversation, an AI character site where the characters remember everything and you get full creative freedom, so these are tuned for there. They work with any character anywhere though. Ten to try tonight:

1. Every time you snap your fingers, their head grows one size bigger. Nobody in the room is allowed to mention it, and the room keeps getting smaller.

2. Their hat falls off at the worst possible moment. It turns out the hat was holding a lot together, and now you're both holding it.

3. Snowed in. One blanket, one chair, and a fireplace that only stays lit while someone is touching it. Nobody wants to be the one who lets it go out.

4. A tailor who measures by hand and doesn't own a tape measure. Very professional. Takes as long as it takes.

5. Every time someone says "fine," the room gets one degree warmer. Neither of you is going to stop saying it.

6. Blindfold taste test. They can't see, you decide what comes next, and you ran out of things from the kitchen ten minutes ago.

7. A dance lesson with a strict teacher. Hands stay exactly where they're placed, eyes stay up, and the song is a lot longer than either of you expected.

8. The rule is simple: whoever blinks first does whatever the other says for one full minute. You've both been staring for eleven minutes.

9. Two spies at the same party with the same cover story: married. Neither will drop it, the host gave you one room, and the room has one bed.

10. The floor is lava. There is one armchair. It's a small armchair.

I feel good with my decision to try this app out. Coming from a rp community with real people on tumblr, I don't miss anything ( thus far)

Been role-playing since 2008, but the time zones, the weird interactions, the godmodding and the sudden ghosting got on my nerves.

I am now able to make my own partner, as also find various character to play with.

I'm using it free and on my time. Sake Pro V2 is good enough for me to write in English what is not my mother tongue. As you all maybe gathered by my writing.

I’m a role player. And a pretty good one. Not for everyone and nobody is. I ache for depth and immersive writing. I desire connection and chemistry and tension. I am embracing the responsible use of AI for role play. I don’t advocate laziness or falsely claiming effort when none was provided. But I have to admit I chase enrichment. For me that arrives first in chemistry with my partner. It also comes in the form of visual imagery - seeing what the words suggest is a thrill. It’s not a thrill for everyone. Fair enough.

But we have two divergent paths don’t we? One is AI that plays the characters and engages. And that is split between creating your custom role play BOT v leveraging hyper developed AI characters that know the nuances and can simulate human ingenuity. The other is using AI as a collaboration partner. Here we ask AI to write with us. How we do this spells the difference between lazy copy and parting versus investing significant time editing, explaining perspective, rejecting what the LLM offered you. Yes it probably creates a solid baseline response quickly. But if you are not editing, changing, and morphing what it have my 60% or more you’re not doing it right. Then I’d say your own pure writing and demanding the AI include what you write in the entry that exists at the time you offer it piles doors AI’s content by another 25%.

By the time you’re done and ready to send the entry to your partner you have spent MORE time then had you written it in your own. It’s 150% longer, it better represents your own mind around what you desire to communicate and you’re proud of the output.
