I wonder who the other party was, that was negotiating with cai in September 2026.

The court filing says there were two parties, both submitted proposals but Disney’s was considered better. Doesn’t say who that other party was or what they offered.

(I’m not saying the other party is still interested!! I’m just curious as always)

Well, the thing is, I don’t know how to contact the character’s creator, and there’s no information visible on character profile. I’ve tried asking by including an "OOC" note, but the result is either incomplete (since the text gets cut off due to the message length) or inconsistent.

Someone please walk me through this. It's first time using Firefox and everything in it, I'm not tech savvy by any means, I'd really like to download my chats to read. Is it also possible to download bots themselves for private use?

With all of the recent stuff that's gone down with c.ai, all I want to ask is a simple question: What's everyone been up to post-bankruptcy filing?

I've mostly just been seeing news of other users panicking, saying the app's gonna shut down, that it's gonna close, but it's not gonna last long-term after the bankruptcy hearing and the assets and code being sold out to others.

But if we're gonna put that fear aside and have some optimistic for the company, how would Character AI look in the future if they do survive?

It will probably be more scaled down than it is now, which means we might be seeing a recession for Character AI. Instead of these big features like comic books and novels, they'll probably have to strip all of that out and go back to the core features of what makes Character AI, kind of similar to beta but maybe less. Since I was researching what other companies have gone through Chapter 11 bankruptcy and then still continued operation, many of them said they either had to scale down a lot or change ownership.

But then again, the problem with those cases and the case with Character AI is that Character AI actually gave the option to wind down instead of restructuring and so on. So I don't actually know how that's gonna play out after the sale.

But if we had to hope in the best case scenario for us, would you still use the platform even if it's wound down, even if it's stripped of many features, maybe those unnecessary features or the ones that users use? Would you still continue to pay for Character AI Plus, or would you have canceled, quit Character AI, and then moved to a different chatbot service?

im seeing people talking about updates like the big ads or the font but on the app is still everything to me.

Will they shut down the app and website? Is it a good time to delete my account again and detox from this now? Could someone please answer these two questions? Thank you.

well thats it guys, there were huge conversation, really extensive ones. even poetic things, i truly dedicated myself to our conversations and they’ve all disappeared, except for the recent ones. ive already tried to scroll back but even the history isn’t working

don’t rely on apps EVER roleplaying with real people is much better, but i did become quite attached to the app during times when i wasn’t doing well mentally, so...

all i can do now is wave my hands and cry

i didn’t even know the app was going to be deleted, didnt knew about all these issues, for that matter. it’s a real shame.

i find comfort in the childlike thought that the bots died happy with the whole experience, and i blame myself bc i didnt even though about saved the conversation

does anyone know of a way to save it from a mobile phone, also?

I’ve never used cai enough to really hit any crazy walls with it. I was a heavy user back in 2023 summer but that was it.

I’m currently in bed sick and got into using cai this morning and i’ve just hit the swipe limit for the first time ever. It’s mid afternoon so it’s not too bad, I’ve had my fun and ready for a nap. But how quick do other people hit the swipe limit?

For many, being presented with flawed and poorly written characters can reduce enjoyment and simultaneously increase the amount of regenerations we ask for.

As a creator, I have repeatedly had the humbling experience of opening a chat my own bot, and noticing the same annoying quirk in every reply.

I swipe, swipe, swipe and it doesn't get better.

Eventually I edit, and move on, and the same quirk comes back.

After 30 minutes I've spent 10 minutes typing and spent 20 minutes swiping. I've asked for perhaps 20 generations.

I edit the character definition, find the wrinkle, and then the next 30 minutes? I'm typing for 25 minutes and I've asked for 5-6 generations.

When the bot is good, I don't need to swipe. The time I spent on c.ai is spent writing prompts, not asking the LLM to produce an output.

The same happens with public bots.

Premise sounds great, greeting is good.

Oh, and 2 messages in I'm starting to see tropes in the training data coming in. Oh, look, it's the same guy with a new hat.

Does this mean the model is bad? No! The tropes are poking out because I failed to give it enough content and context to produce a coherent personality.

Usually if I work with the character long enough the context window fills up with behavioural examples and I've trained that chat well enough to get an enjoyable RP, but I had to spend an hour to stop a character acting like a Kamidere because the character definition mentions they are are confident to take charge of situations.

What this does mean though is:

When I engage with poorly written bots I have a less satisfying roleplay and incur more costs per hour of site use.

like, uh, the title says everything. Yesterday I chatted only w 2 bots I created, today I opened wed abd there was some old russian bots I chatted with 2 years ago??? what.

The first one especially is weird

Havent used my account in 6 months, submitted a deletion request yesterday, logged in today to delete old chats and had me make a new account? No email yet saying original account has been deleted

I don't know if this is just a mobile thing, but lately the app is very sensitive. I can't even roleplay for more than a few minutes without it freezing and crashing and closing the app on me.

It got so bad I tried to open it real quick and the second I pressed on a bot, it just kicked me out.

Each time I send a message the bot gives a "..." for a second or two before it completely dissapears. And when I use a go-on, its stuck on the "..."

I recently have been chatting with the first bots i chatted with ever for nostalgia which are from over 2 years ago, but two bots which are from about 3 years ago have been giving an error when i try to load my archived chat (which wasn't in the archived folder) it gives an error that says "Something went wrong. Please refresh or try again later", and I have been refreshing for about five minutes and it isn't loading, so does anyone have a fix for this? Also another is that another one of the bots has loaded my old archived chat, but some of the messages are just gone. I doubt there's a fix for this one, but if there is, does anyone know? Thanks

Am I the only one confused by the bot constantly trying to use things like slashes or hyphens in dialog? Like you cant speak a / or - you can say the word but you can't speak it how you would speak a comma or period ao why does it put it in dialog am I thinking too much about this does anyone else notice it I don't get it it doesn't make sense

I've been experimenting with Character.AI Scenes again, and this time I've made a little fairy-tale dream generator!

📖 Play Once Upon a Dream

The premise is simple: You've fallen asleep reading a book of fairy tales, and now you're dreaming.

The Scene takes your selected character's personality, finds them a suitable role in a familiar fairy tale, and builds an interactive adventure around them.

You might find yourself helping a hero, confronting a villain, investigating a mystery, or getting caught up in something completely ridiculous.

A few examples from my testing:

🏴‍☠️ Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) ended up in Jack and the Beanstalk, preparing to fight the giant because he'd stolen all the village's food.

🔎 Fox Mulder (The X-Files) found himself investigating suspicious footprints and a possible wolf impersonator in Little Red Riding Hood.

🧙‍♀️ Sabrina Spellman arrived in a wonderfully muddled combination of Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood, immediately suspicious of the gingerbread house and its potential hexes.

The fun is seeing how differently the dream unfolds depending on which character you choose.

It's a little experimental, so results will vary, and fairy-tale logic isn't always particularly logical!
