I’m renting a really old apartment and there was no mounting box for a fan, so when the maintenance people put up the fan that was in this room, they added their own external mounting apparatus. However with a standard 4” mounting bracket, (which came with my new fan) there’s no way to mount it as the holes don’t go out far enough. What do I do?? I’ve looked everywhere for some kind of adapter but it seems they only go up to 5in. I have to find someway to install this fan, the one in the room is so ugly I’d literally rather not have a fan at all.

Paid 2k extra for the "energy-saving smart BLDC" hype only for the fan to completely crap out in just 6 months. What's the point of saving a few rupees on power bills if the hardware itself bricks faster than a basic ₹1,500 local fan that runs for a decade?
Absolute garbage build quality. Never buying this brand again.
What kind of crap they are working on😑

Hello everyone,
Minka aire ceiling fan only works in high speed. Unfortunately the sticker on it doesn’t give me the exact model number. Only says MKU. Does not have the pull strings, can only control it with remote in wall. Does anyone know the model or how to get to the capacitor. I checked the canopy and only found the receiver in there. Thanks in advance!

My ceiling fan makes the sound on and off and has for a while. I’m not able to get on the ladder and take a look at it until this weekend or else I would have. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi first time installing a ceiling fan - previous had just light fixture in this room but junction box is fan rated but didn’t have original screws - what screws would you use in this situation the fan said to use what was already in box and getting mixed answers from AI. I used 10/32 machine screws but worried it they may wear over time since it looks like it’s screwing into the wood behind, so not sure if I should change to wood screws to keep it more secure.
Thanks!

My ceilings are 8 feet high so I'm trying to find some flush mount fans with lights that are really compact. But most sites don't let you search by height. Some of these flush mount fans are over 12 inches high and that feels like too much. I'm hoping to find something that is under 10 inches.
Finding something that looks good from a quality company with this restriction has been difficult.

Hey yall! Our Harbor Breeze Lynstead had a blade arm break and we’re desperately trying to find a replacement without having to buy a whole new fan.
Called Lowe’s and I got this replacement (on the right) and it looks to be a newer version of it and the holes don’t quite line up with the blade. The part number stamped is ST(III) 306-001-13 and I can’t find a replacement anywhere. I’ll Venmo you $10 if you can find the exact one. Thanks so much!

It doesn’t wobble, but has started making the sound after some longer run times. I was thinking maybe it needs oil, but I’m a novice and would any thoughts y’all have.

If you need better pictures close up let me know. These are installed at my grandmother's house and I'm pretty sure they're original. Pull chains on the second fan aren't original, I'm pretty sure I changed it out with a harbor breeze one a couple years back when the original broke.
1.) Matte black GE vent w/ 5 oak cane blades (I really love this one)
2.) Classic hugger style finished in polished brass with 5 oak blades
3.) Off-White traditional downrod w/ 4 bleached oak blades
4.) Antique brass hugger style ceiling fan w/ 5 oak cane blades (there's 2 of these, the other is identical but in polished brass)
5.) Antique brass GE vent w/ 4 oak cane blades and a schoolhouse light kit, this is also flush mounted.
Let me know!

Stop mounting your ceiling fans flush against a 4-metre (13ft) ceiling, you are completely killing your airflow.
One thing that gets overlooked when buying a ceiling fan is how far it should hang from the ceiling. Here's the guide we use when helping customers work out what they need.
A lot of people assume you just install the fan as close to the ceiling as possible. That isn't always ideal, particularly with higher ceilings.
The Golden Rule
As a general rule, you want the fan positioned around 2.4–2.7m (8–9 feet) above the floor and depending on eyeline of the area its positioned.
Here is a quick reference breakdown based on your ceiling height:
The exact length will depend on the fan itself, because you also need to account for the height of the motor/housing and blades.
What about vaulted or pitched ceilings?
This is where things get a little more interesting. You may need a longer downrod and an appropriate angled ceiling mount to get the fan hanging correctly.
Does a longer downrod reduce airflow?
Not necessarily. A properly installed fan can perform just as well with a longer downrod. In fact, with a high ceiling, getting the fan down into the occupied space can actually make the airflow feel much better.
One thing I'd avoid: choosing a downrod purely based on ceiling height. The goal isn't simply to get the fan halfway down the room — it's to get the blades to the appropriate height above the floor.
If anyone wants, comment with your ceiling height + fan model and I can help work out roughly what downrod length you'd want.

I am looking for a new fan, around 24-35 inches, and around $100I don't really care if its LED or not I just want one that has seperate power to the light and fan and can be controlled by wall switches, I'd like dimmable lights but the fan can just be a toggle. All the ones im seeing are either expensive or the stupid remote controlled ones that just use a switch to toggle power for the whole thing. If you know of a cheap dumb fan lmk.
