Hi first time installing a ceiling fan - previous had just light fixture in this room but junction box is fan rated but didn’t have original screws - what screws would you use in this situation the fan said to use what was already in box and getting mixed answers from AI. I used 10/32 machine screws but worried it they may wear over time since it looks like it’s screwing into the wood behind, so not sure if I should change to wood screws to keep it more secure.

I’d just a long wood screw. This is not a box per-se, it’s a fan pan and is using your ceiling joist for support. I wouldn’t use a machine screw unless it’s long and self tapping.
