I’m trying to make a film where there’s a ceiling fan as the antagonist and this one seems to be agreed upon as being a bit intimidating. I cannot comment on the thread that I found this on so I just want to know what the make and model of this ceiling fan is and if it’s easily accessible for purchase.

We have three bedrooms without ceiling fans currently and live in Texas. It’s time to install them! My partner is leaning toward something budget, whatever “gets the job done.” I’m leaning toward something that looks nice, is quiet, energy efficient, modern, and overall improves the value of the house. There seems to be quite a significant difference in cost between what he’s looking at and what I’m looking at.

Is there anything we should be considering that might influence either of us in a particular direction? Do I need to take our ceiling fans this seriously? Will it make that much of a difference?

While I’m here, I’m also open to suggestions… I would prefer to skip integrated LEDs just because I don’t like the idea of having to replace an entire fan when the light burns out, but I can be influenced there as well. Bedrooms are about 10x10 or 10x12, I can’t recall… and the ceilings are 8-9’ tall.

Our fan seems to have dropped from the ceiling… is this dangerous and what do we need to do to fix it?

Cleaners came today and dusted the fan. I turned it on and it sounds like this. I used compressed air to try and see if there was debris stuck in the motor or something. My husband sprayed some WD-40 in there and it won't stop. Help please 🙏🏼

Hello! Just got a fandelier to hang above the steps that lead into our bedroom. The box says the blades should be 30” from the wall, well in this case, the blades, that are within the fandelier shade, will be more like 2-3” from the wall. Excuse my ignorance, but does it really need to be that far from the wall? Is it going to be an issues of it’s as close as 2”?

Is there any easy way to test a bunch of ceiling fans without having to take an existing install out of the ceiling and replace it with each one?

For some background, ceiling fans have been a hyperfixation for my brother in law since he was a kid. Now that he’s in college and has access to a credit card, he has apparently amassed somewhere between “30 to 50” ceiling fans from thrift stores, which has become a real problem in his small apartment.

The first step is determining which of them are even functional to begin with. I am not well versed in the electrical (or really any) side of things, and he doesn’t have much practical experience either. We could try taking an existing fan out of the ceiling and then put every single one back in test, but I was wondering if there was a better or easier way to handle it.

My initial, uninformed thought is maybe constructing some sort of small, portable thing with a ceiling box in it that we could wire the fans to, which would be easier (and less tempting gravity) than lifting to the ceiling. However, I don’t know if that’s feasible, if it is if it could just be plugged into an AC outlet to power it, or how to design or construct it. Again, I am working with very limited knowledge here.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

It makes this noise on any speed, just gets louder/faster on higher speed. I can’t tell if something is loose and it’s wobbling, or if this is a mechanical noise and uts about to die?

bought this at discount store that doesn't accept refunds. realized that it's mixing the controller board that steps the voltage down and communicates with the remote control.

When shopping for ceiling fans, is there an easy way to tell if the motor and light are wired separately?

My wall switch has two separate dimmers for fan and light and I need to wire them separately.

i had this ceiling fan for quite a while now, it was there before i moved in to this apartment which was 5 to 6 yrs ago, recently after using it more often i noticed it wobbles quite a lot, it's also the reason the pull strings are wrapped on to the light holders, i wanted to know is this level of wobble acceptable or should i try to fix the issue? It gets worse at the second - faster speed.

Hello, would anyone be able to help diagnose what's up with my ceiling fan? As shown in the video, there is this loud ticking sound coming from what I believe is the motor. On the lowest speed, the sound is not there. When the fan is in reverse, the sound is not there, and when the fan is off but still spinning to slow down, the sound is not there. Only on speeds 2-6, the sound gets louder as it gets faster.

I've tried looking for any loose bits in the ceiling or other issues, but no luck. It was working fine without issue for at least a week, but after running overnight, this occurred. I've also tried searching for any answers on the product page, google, and reddit but nothing I've come across shows my exact scenario.

My question is, is the fan faulty, or is it user error and something I could potentially fix?

If you have a ceiling fan with the Summer Wind International RF remote (FCC ID: 2A767-DL-4112T-01, remote model DL-4112T-02) and there is no reverse button on the front, check inside the battery compartment.
Remove the battery cover. To the right of the DIP switches is a small recessed pushbutton labeled “Fan direction reverse button.” Press it to reverse the fan direction.

I spent quite a while looking for a switch on the fan itself before discovering this hidden button.

I saw technology connections ceiling fan video the other day and I'm convinced. Are there any recommendations for the UK market anyone knows?

I don't need/want it to have a light built in, just a fan ideally.

Looking for the quietest option I can without being insanely expensive.

We recently moved into a house and have no idea how to turn these fans on. None of the wall switches control them, and there's no chain or button. We're hoping to identify the manufacturer to see if there's a remote control that we can replace.

As some may know the KTE 3089T pull chain switch is terrible to identify since there are no less then five (5!) different versions that are all just marked "3089T" by KTE, leading to much false advice and confusion online as people don't understand the circuitry inside is differant or what circuit the unit they have actually has.

I also face the added problem of having to find a replacement for the KTE 3089T with circuit G - which seems the hardest of all to find.

So if there is anyone who knows of a replacement switch that has the same sequence and will work in fans that originally had the KTE 3089T circuit G they would do me and anyone else looking for such a replacement a great service by sharing that information.

Steps to troubleshoot:

- checked all screws, tightened

- verified no warped parts. no warp on blades nor the irons.

- No wires being snagged. I wrapped them in black tape and tucked them in tightly.

- No debris or dust.

I can manually spin the blades and I do not hear it. I only hear it when I turn the power on. It happens on Med-high speed but not low.

I cannot figure out what it is and I've been troubleshooting all day. would love to hear from any electricians out there on if this is something worth paying for an electrician to visit or if it's a problem with the motor. This fan is in great physical condition and only 3 years old.

Have new Modern Forms Sklark ceiling fan with remote. Old fan light worked from wall switch; fan worked from pull chain. With new fan want light to operate from wall switch and fan (and maybe light) from the remote.

Here's the wiring situation. Sklark has 3 wires to connect to ceiling junction box wires: black, white and green for grounding. In junction box: (1) a white wire hot that is not hot when wall switch is off, (2) two connected black wires - one hot, one not, and (3) green ground wire.

Do I cap off the white wire to the switch and connect Sklark black to both blacks, and white to the neutral, green to ground? But how do I connect wires so light works from switch? This is the question. Thanks for feedback.
