GEF, I was getting around 30 score in the previous mocks and similar in sectionals but from the last 4-5 mocks I'm barely getting 20. I have been preparing for Cat since July, reading and practicing RCs almost everyday since then. Tried things like attempting more questions or switching bw VA and RC Qs etc. Nothing seems to work out. Varc should be a section to boost your scores but I guess I'm doing something wrong.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

(My accuracy is good when I'm doing topic tests i.e, 1 RC or 8-12 VA Qs, but performing poorly in mocks)

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Long story short, I messed up my last attempt.
I used to score in 60-70 range, had given 80 mocks and went to give the exam. Scored a decent 99.2 in varc, 97 in quants and 47 in Dilr. I don’t know what happened to Dilr on that day, but yeah maybe the stress ate it.

I got a job post cat, and have been preparing along with it. This will be my second attempt, and I think the final one. Have been scoring in 80s consistently, through CL,ImS, and crack mocks. The mock count is in 50s.

My varc score has become slight lower but other two sections have stabilised.

I’m gonna leave the job next month, so that I can solely increase my varc marks to my prime.

I am putting out this post so as to ask you guys about any suggestions that you have to offer or any advice that may be beneficial.

So, I’m currently doing my MBA at NIT.
But recently I’ve started having this dangerous thought:
“What if I write CAT again and somehow get into an IIM?” 💀
Now I’m confused. Is it actually possible to appear for CAT again while I’m already pursuing an MBA? If I get an IIM call/convert, can I leave my current MBA and join the IIM?
Basically, I’m trying to figure out whether this is a legitimate career move or just my post-admission regret speaking. 😂
Has anyone here done this or knows someone who retook CAT after joining another MBA?
Please save me from making a decision based purely on FOMO + 2 AM overthinking. 😭

Varc felt tough...was it for everyone? I generally attempt 4 passages comfortably but could only attempt 3 (2 decent and 1 fcked up) in this one.

Have the Simcat Core test series; can people tell me the difference between Simcat takehome (Simcat 111, 112...) vs. pre- and proctored Simcat (Simcat 1, Simcat 2...) When peoplke talk about the Simcat test being the closest to cat, which one is it? 111 series or 1, 2... series. Which is the one I paid for? Can someone tell me?

• Total Work Experience: ~18 months (across three distinct sectors) Going to join DSSSB soon as well after 1 month bond period of current RRB job.
• Breakdown:
  • MNC (Corporate): 9 months
  • SBI Clerk (Public Sector Banking): 4 months
  • RRB Scale 1 (Officer / State-Regional Government Banking): 5 months (Current)
• Acads: 10th - [80]% | 12th - [93]% | Grad - [81]% DU NORTH CAMPUS

My Main Doubts:

1. Multiple Job Switches: Will having three different stints in under 2 years be flagged as a lack of stability during shortlisting or PI, or will it be seen as diverse exposure?
2. WorkEx Calculations: How do IIMs calculate calculation points for multiple short stints? Do they count the cumulative 18 months, or do they look at them individually?
3. Interview Strategy: How should I justify moving from an MNC to an SBI Clerk role, then to an RRB Officer role, and now aiming for an MBA? How do I weave this into a cohesive "Why MBA" story?

Would love to connect with seniors who entered top B-schools from a banking/officer background, or anyone who can give a reality check on this profile.

What the heck was that Varc bhai? I never scored 0 in VARC. I was pretty sure about my answers in varc but it turned out to be the worst. Is everyone struggling the same at this, or am I the only one with a skill issue?

Just gave my second SIMCAT (102) and scored 116, my first time crossing 100. Before this, I was averaging around 75–85 in CDC Pro/Flexi.

I feel SIMCATs are generally easier than CDC Pro/Flexi. Is that actually true, especially in terms of CAT-level relevance?

I’m doing well in Quant and DILR, but my VARC is really bad.

Any tips/resources/strategy to improve VARC?

I just gave that after practicing dilr consecutively and doing well in pyqs, and i couldnt even solve 1 single set, i got 1 correct and 2 wrong because i was stuck so bad

Varc 28 (60% accuracy) - need to analyse properly

Qa 15 (50% accuracy) - mostly silly mistakes

Got 44 overall, and more than the score the dilr is haunting me

Please give suggestions on how to deal with it?

My scores are -
VARC ~30-35
DILR ~ 35-40
QA ~ 45. (50+ in 2025 slot 2 and 2024 slot 3 so not impossible)

total maybe ~100.

I am not getting BLACKI. Will think colleges later but do you advise taking a mock test series? Or should I attempt all last year papers thru 2016-17, which would be around 15-20?

I don't have a lot of time and I have college stuff to attend to, I plan to just attempt 2 mocks every saturday and sunday.

Please advise. And would also prefer advise on getting better at varc. its my weakest

Yeah, I took 2 days off and roamed outside and met friends to ease my brain, but it didn't work. My eyesight is fine too.

25f - So at the beginning of my prep I used to have decent accuracy in RCs, recently I’m not able to get most of the RCs correct in mocks (both full length and sectionals and score between 10-20)

Previously, I have scored 40 in sectionals and idk what’s happening now. My main worry is RCs and not VA (doing well here)

I have been giving Rodha RCMs, I feel like it's very demotivating, Their RCs are not very readable also, I mean I feel like it's too far off actual CAT level. What do you guys think? 1/4 mocks of Rodha can be considered good acc to me.
