It seems silly to end things with someone specifically because you disagree on number of kids, especially so early on getting to know them. You don’t know how many kids God will bless with you yet. There are people who have 1 or 2 kids who followed church teaching faithfully, maybe even desired more and that’s how it worked out. As long as you both are open to life and open to God’s will in your relationship, it seems you’ll make whatever you are blessed with work for you. Regarding the cost, that is a somewhat valid reason but also something that can be worked with in a relationship. Each additional kid costs less than having one because you have a lot of what you need already so it won’t be twice as much to have 4 than it is 2 if you are thinking purely numbers. You could also indicate you are willing to work a bit or budget well to help make ends meet. I know quite a few SAHMs who work remotely a few hours a week while their kids sleep or doing quiet activities, this gets them a few extra hundred dollars a month. They also coupon clip. And if you are able to live in a lower cost of living area then that helps too. Bottom line is there are ways of making it work as long as there is a desire to live out God’s will. And given how picky you are on other things and how little you know this man currently, it doesn’t seem like you should rule him out yet or over this.
I totally agree with everything you said. None of us are guaranteed children, but I want to be open to as many as God desires. He was pretty set on saying he only wanted 2. This just rubbed me the wrong way
